Cruisin' Van Nuys Boulevard, Circa 1979
This is going to make Valley Doll cry. I mentioned on the Sunland-Tujunga post the old days of cruisin' on Van Nuys Boulevard. For those of you who were not there, this is what it was like. And they even made a movie about it. Here's the trailer complete with a pre-Disney John Leader doing the voice over.

And how did the traffic in the fourth cut all of a sudden change to driving on the left side of the road? Van Nuys, London?

it's official, Mayor Sam ... we're "old ass".
Did you notice the portion of the car race was on the 210 before they opened it up west of the 118 onramp ... you know, where they used to film "CHIPS" a million years ago. Another fave film about the Valley around that same time: "Foxes" with Jodie Foster, Scott Baio and Cherie Currie (from the Runaways ... "I'm your ... ch..ch..cherry bomb!). I LOVED THAT FILM!

That was everything I thought it would be and more. They should find a way to get release that movie at the Egyptian Theater or something. The city's cultural affairs department or art department or whatever should sponsor for it!

Wonder if they'll be a spanish-language remake of the film?

"This is what it was like"?!
My god, Mayor, you are far freaking dumber than I thought.
This was a sleezy, low-budget flick by Crown International, you moron. If it resembled reality at any level whatsoever, it was a freakish coincidence.
You not only don't understand reality. You don't understand movies: Crown International was the low-budget caca king in its day.
If that's how you remember your childhood, you're beyond stupid.
Dumbass.

Is slamming Mayor Sam your only avocation?
Maybe you should try discussing some issues.
