WOW: LA TIMES article on Richard Alatorre (and blogged about here on Mayor Sam's blog) really has people talking. On the realest, dough! People in Greig Smith's district are upset because Alatorre is lobbying for Las Lomas (that somehow fell into Alarcon's district) -- and the traffic and infrastructure problems don't stop at district boundaries. Plus, in CD 14 they heard Alatorre is lobbying for a Charter school in a Boyle Heights park. And we've read about Alatorre on this blog regarding his non-profit and affordable housing strategies that he "consults" Mayor Villaraigosa on. And this guy isn't registered as a lobbyist. So pirate, or not...the community is NOT happy with Richard Alatorre's involvement in the community as an unregistered lobbyist. And when I say "lobbyist", I'm using the term loosely.

MORE TO COME: See thread below on this blog -- including link to LA TIMES article.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: The State Treasurer would like to remind you that you can have the inside track on Bond investing for things like infrastructure that will make the City great in 30 years. (Try not to laugh...this guy is serious...)

From BuyCaliforniaBonds.com

Welcome. Thank you for visiting Buy California Bonds.

California bonds finance investments in our schools, roads, housing, parks, levees and other crucial infrastructure projects. They also finance research and development of stem cell therapies that could produce cures for diseases which ravage lives and families.

As Treasurer, I am responsible for managing all of the State’s bond sales. I want to make it easy for individuals to make these investments – and pay the same price as large, institutional investors. This website will show you how to buy infrastructure and stem cell bonds, as well as shorter-term bonds that help the State maintain its cash flow.

The bulk of these bonds will help finance infrastructure projects. California voters have approved the issuance of more than $65 billion of bonds to improve and build new schools, roads, housing, parks and levees. Over the next few years, the State will be selling these bonds to raise the money to build these projects. By investing in these bonds, you will help turn the projects you approved at the polls into reality – adding to our quality of life and the vibrancy of our economy.

ZD feels the City and State is doing a FANTASTIC JOB with the money -- and are a sound financial investment. (If you need a huge tax write-off.)

If the Ethics Commission doesn't do something about Alatorre, they are bigger pussies than ZD.

And that is really saying something.

The Ethics Commission is not going to do anything. The lone Commissioner, Bill Boyarsky, who has the fortitude to bring an action against Alatorre will not have any support from his colleagues. Let’s wait and see.
