Interstate 5 Update
Here are some updates on the closing of Interstate 5 due to a massive truck crash inside a truck route tunnel on the southbound truck tunnel Friday.
Southbound lanes should be re-opened before 6:00 a.m. Monday, however due to the tunnel closure truck traffic will have to join vehicular traffic making the usual mess even worse. Northbound lanes with the exception of two truck lanes that have been opened to all traffic will remain closed for at least another 24 hours.

Metrolink officials have added additional trains and added cars to existing trains for service between the Antelope and Santa Clarita valleys and Los Angeles. For more information click here.
For alternate routes through the traffic click here.
Current traffic conditions can be found here.
Channel 4 takes a look at the "fragility" of Interstate 5 through the Newhall Pass, as its really the only way in and out of LA to Northern California and beyond. Twice in the last 30 years the highway was significantly damaged during earthquakes.
Perhaps its time to bite the bullet and build an additional outlet. Big task I know.
