That's a propaganda piece from IBEW Local 18 which controls DWP. Get the story on the politics behind it. Big bucks are involved. Ratepayers are getting screwed royally.

The dwp has always been the princes of the city -- higher pay, better retirement, plenty of expensive perks. They overcharge the customers and every time there is the least bit of rain, my power is out for hours. Screw them.

They have some kind of training program for "youths at risk," which includes paying for their college tuition of they work for DWP.

Sounds like a worthy goal, but they should put that to a vote from the public, asking if that's how we/they want our funds/taxes to be used.

It shouldn't just be sneaked in.

6:41: I'm with you. I'm sick of all the blackouts, with every wind, every time it's cold, whatever. We need underground power lines, especially in the hills. These blackouts are not only inconvenient, but during the recent fires accompanied by heavy winds, they resulted in a total blackout which would have made it impossible for the firefighters to find homes, and they'd have had to put out fires by flashlight.

Fix these problems BEFORE rewarding the dept with all these perks.

6:59: shut up, you moron. How many times have you reposted this rant?

Corina was very quiet and dignified, said more by not saying too much -- at the young Latinas' lunch. She is clearly upset that he rejected her, and this sort of thing is always sad, but she can't make him love her. And who wants to force someone who doesn't love them, to stay with them?

She needs to move on, and a tell-all trash book won't help her or her kids.

When and how she chooses to move on is up to her. A tell-all book about her sleezy husband, the sleezy latino reporters, the sleezy latino and not-latino politicians she knows, would bring her lots of money. I say she should write a book.

I say she should run for mayor against her soon-to-be ex-husband.

DWP is extremely top heavy. There is a shortage of people that actually do work, however, they are very top heavy. There are many supervisors & managers and there is no clue to do they do except constantly attend meetings or go on junkets to attend utility conferences. I don't think they have any useful function. If you go into their offices, they are like museums. (family pictures, souvenirs from utility junkets, etc.) There is no sign of any kind of work. Most of these people are paid well over $100,000. And with regard to the DWP city attorney, they seem to be for display only. They are always hiring outside counsel for the least little litigation. Their main function seems to be make sure their office are the sized correctly according to their rank (assistant city attorney's office are bigger then deputy city attorney's)

When I first moved to LA about 20 years ago, there was a dwp scandal involving the muckymucks charging a $1000 lunch to the city for 4 supervisors and their wives. Not much has changed.

No, fix these problems without offering any perks for performing basic and overcharged services.

7:24 am: you don't give a d-m about Corina or her making money: you just want her to write the book so you can read the dirt. It's all about YOU.
