As many of you noted this morning, David Zahniser has written an interesting piece on the intersection of a $3 billion Universal City development and the Mayor’s main squeeze.Others read this as more than an intersection; they see Villaraigosa holding support for the development hostage pending the outcome of an investigation that will determine Salinas’ future at Telemundo.
To me, that’s a stretch. I think Zahniser's point is, there are no rules governing a situation where a potential conflict of interest involves a girlfriend rather than a spouse.

Flap has testified in front of Grand Juries before and Mayor Villar will be there soon.
In the meantime, Telemundo, I bet is trying to work out a deal for Senorita Salinas. One that keeps the Mayor happy and their parent company in the development business.

I bet that Salinas won't be fired, not after AV has been publicly supporting her. She will probably just have a slightly different job in the company for a while, then she'll go back to reporting.

GOOD FOR LA TIMES FOR REPORTING THE ANGLE THAT I BLOGGED HERE AND DISCUSSED ON TWO DIFFERENT RADIO STATIONS ALREADY A COUPLE WEEKS AGO.
That Universal has the development project pending villar's approval, so they would prefer not to have to punish Mirthlas, because then that would "demonize" it and make it wrong. And I would think Universal is pissed at the mayor for creating this mess.
SO CONGRATULATIONS TO THE LA TIMES FOR ONCE AGAIN BEING WEEKS BEHIND THIS BLOG AND MY RADIO CALLS.
And you can spin that and criticize me for mentioning it. TOO BAD...Not impressed. If any idiot like Zuma Dogg can figure that out and call in on the radio weeks before...what's the big deal about the LAzy Times.
Mirthala won't be fired.
She will accept a settlement like a leave of absence (with some sort of compensation) until the smoke clears or AV divorce is final whichever occurs first.
She will then resume other duties other than cover the Mayor.
My best guess.
NBC will clean house at Telemundo. Salinas and a couple executives will go. Antonio would never be able to take revenge on on the development. His every move would be scrutinized.
And Zuma Dogg, if you weren't a raving, self-absorbed lunatic maybe somebody would notice when you actually pick up a nugget of news.
Mirthala won't be fired because this is how Antonio and Parke do business. Cross them and whatever you stand for or want will get railroaded. By making public statements supporting his little whore Antonio is threatening NBC Universal.
Right now NBC execs in New York are debating between journalistic integrity and a billion dollar development.
Antonio and Parke are vindictive littel punks who think that running any opposition into the ground is just the fruits of thier victories. Hopefully NBC won't cave in, thier is life after Mirthala and Antonio.

First of all since I said it on two radio stations and blogged it here, maybe someone DID pick it up (LA Times). If not, it took em a lot longer to figure it out.
Secondly, I DID give it a mention for the record because I felt it was worth mentioning as "commentary", but as y'all know since the issue is beat to death by every other knook and cranny of the media -- and because I feel there are more important issues than this conflict of interest, even if it is wrong. there is nothing actionable for the community to do on this. no public input...no committee meetings...
I know, I know...it might end up taking down the mayor, and that would be in the best interest of public safety.
So I DID mention it a couple weeks ago on the blog and radio for the record -- since people were not linking those two angles together...but it's not like i blasted it like LAUSD/vacany, tenant rights, special event fees, prop h boondoggle or other things people can actually do something about.

Corina lives and has always lived in the Mt. Washington house. She never took up residence at the Getty house, just ask her family or her neighbors. This is why everyone was saying this was a sham marriage. She played the part, under Parke's order, even though for all intents and purposes she and Antonio lived seperate lives. The house on Mt. Washington was placed under Corina's sole name way before Antonio ran for mayor.
Corina was willing to play the part so long as Antonio didn't publicly humiliate her. But when Mirthala went to the press, that was all she wrote. Antonio had already made Corina the poster child for a Chicana Pendeja, several years earlier. And no, Antonio will not marry that gold digging whore Mirthala - he's no longer even dating her contrary to his public statements. His "relationship" with her constitutes the occasional booty call. But since Antonio is known to go limp, she's also banging several other men.
Salinas looks badly no matter happens to her. Look at the mess both her and AV have created. However, no one is mentioning the pressure from people if Telemundo doesn't do anything to Salinas. Imus got canned because people started blasting the advertisers. If NBC shows they have no backbone or integrity you bet your ass people will go after advertisers and can put pressure on them. The hell with Antonio thinking he has that much power short little idiot.

The Legislature stepped into the power vacuum, slashing $336 million earmarked for Los Angeles and imperiling the long-promised Expo Line to the Westside.
The proposed state budget, now weeks past deadline, was approved by the state Assembly with the support of Villaraigosa’s ally and longtime friend Speaker Fabian Núñez of Los Angeles, and aims to take $1.3 billion in gas-tax revenue intended for transit to bail out the state’s general fund.
The loss is a clear setback for Villaraigosa, whose administration is hurtling forward in approving tens of thousands of new units of controversial, dense, high-rise housing in Los Angeles, to be serviced by a now-vanishing state transit budget.

This is typical Parke Skelton bullshit. Look at how they went after Delgadillo and look at what they did to Hahn and Pacheco. Hahn and Pacheco were made out to be the scumbags of the earth, thanks to Parke. It didn't matter if the information they put out was lies, so long as it got out. According to Luke Ford, it appears that Diana Rubio, the staffer to whom those emails with advance Univision questions were sent for Villar, may be gone from her position. Also, Univision is conducting an internal investigation to determine who sent out those emails to the bloggers.

If Villar is fleeing the scene with some excuse like the son, that is kind of a hint of what is to come... interesting they are all still playing the game together... don't make the announcement until sometime on Friday (probably not too early) so the next two days, government and station offices are closed and Villar is conveniently out of town

A decent thing to do? Boy have you got your head up deep into Antonio's ass! The decent thing to do would be to keep his family together. The decent thing to do wouil dbe to remain faithful to his kid's mother. The dcent thing to do, as Corina said, would be to honor his commitments.
Junior doesn't start college until September, we are in July - why take off now. Like the coward that he is he is using his kid as a shield.

Of course ... if this slug had a shred of "decency" he wouldn't choose THIS time to run off and hide and drag his kid into it as cover for himself. If he really wanted "quality time" with the kid, he'd do it when the kid was not a convenient "tool".
