MESSAGE TO ALL CD 14 BLOGGERS

We at the "RED SPOT INSTITUTE" would like to dedicate our Thursday Posting to everything, and all things CD 14. If you have any CD 14 "CHISMO" . Feel free to give us a e-mail at redspotincd14@yahoo.com . It is our sincere wish to provide a medium for openness in CD 14.

Find out who was elected to the "ADELANTE REDEVELOPEMENT BOARD" ? We will post it. Someone at a council office gives you shabby service ? Let us know. HUIZZY cancels a community meeting on the future of the Southwest Museum ? The public should know.

You "cut and pasters" are always in need of new material. So help in the process, and lets keep "HUIZZY" feet to the fire.

Nahhh, the MS team just realized that without some kind of tempest in the eastside teapot, their batch of out-of-touch burb-bloggers can't even get arrested online.

No election in CD14 for FOUR YEARS?

This place will be a ghost town!

Congratulations on Mr. Huizars' ability to convince the fewest number of people in the CD14 community to support him. Congratulations on the support of the man who had the bigger machine; power, money, etc., but who is not necessarily the true endorsement of the CD 14 community as being 'the best man for the job". Too many people said "Anybody but Huizar" or "Why bother?" There were 32,000 people in CD14 who could have voted. Only 9,224 did. Not much of a mandate when less than 30% of the eligable voters showed up at the polls.

In one precint where there were 863 registerd voters; 58 voted. Another precint had 1068 registered voter; about 143 voted.
Obviously the other constituents chose not to vote at at all.

I'll keep the community in my prayers should the community need anything from Mr. Huizar in the next two years.

Bitter, bitter, bitter.

If there had been anyone better running, they would have won, or at least made a reasonable show! The opposition was crushed.

Now go crush your sour grapes and make enough bitter wine to drink yourself into a stupor. When you wake up, the district will be even better off than it was. Things improved in the last two years -- they'll improve more in the next four.

Huizar got MORE votes than any other incumbent who had any opposition on the ballot. THAT is a mandate in any election.

He got MORE votes than NEARLY every other incumbent councilmember who DIDN'T have anyone running against them.

That goes beyond mandate, to show that the opposition in CD14 was pathetic.

The closest thing Huizar had to an "opponent" was someone who raised enough money to send mailers out a half-dozen times, and he still got slaughtered. Most of his mailers accused Huizar of crimes, negligence, and being self-serving. NONE of them stuck, because the community leaders in the district knew better.

That's MORE of a mandate AGAINST the opposition's cheap than has occurred in 20 years.

If the voters had been concerned about having Huizar there for another for years, they WOULD have come out in record numbers to ditch his ass, as they did when they turned out Nick Pacheco.

Robert Greene on the Times Blog tells why Huizar steamrolled to victory, even without having to blow the caps on contributions as happened with the Huizar/Pacheco campaign in 2005:

"A look at the sign-in sheet at Huizar's victory bash at Salesian High School in Boyle Heights tells part of the story. In addition to name and phone number, there was a place for guests to fill in their affiliation, and most wrote in the names of labor unions, community groups, businesses or even other campaigns. Rare was the guest who could simply call himself a neighbor, or a community member. A city council election in a district of more than a quarter million people is won by coalitions of organizations, most of which can turn out voters and campaign workers for a candidate who will remember they were on the team and will pick up the phone in the coming months when they call . . .""

It's called "satisfaction" . . . otherwise, the incumbent walks.

Why all the negativity??? Everyone is moving forward on a more positive note and Mayor Sam guys are still obsessed with CD14. Isn't this a little discrimatory? Think the poster was right, if the CD14 crew doesn't come here what will the people have to read?

Positive posts,,, I voted for the man whom I thought was best candidate; the rest of 6,783 members in CD14 believed what Mr. Huizad said.... I can read, everything he sent out was "spin"; not truth. See ya in two years,

To Anonymous Writer of "Bitter, Bitter"...

Mike Romero why don't you just say who you are? Your writing id's you very well to us SMART PEOPLE OF CD 14.

You really do not have a clue do you.

Sure Alvin lost, but 30% voted for him, alot more that he ever expected to get by Huizar's own statements, and you know the next time in 2 years when Jose will say that his NEIGHBORS convince him to run for Fabian Nunez's Assembly Seat that he just has to agree with them, Alvin may just win, but it hard to do when the Political Machine and MONEY, MONEY, and more MONEY is against you.

But the winner aside is not Jose, and I think you will have to agree that the winner was US - - Think about it -- Did issues did raised?? Did positive changes occur??? Did Jose come out to the community and talk to people???? Did Jose take action on items of concern???

Really, if Alvin Parra has not stepped up and put a thorn in Jose's foot, do you think all of the above would have happen on Jose's own in the short of amount time it did???

At the El Sereno Candidate Forum 4 Questions that were put the Candidates that attended where ANNOUNCED THE NEXT WEEK BY Jose Huizar that he would do for the community - a Police Bicycle Patrol -- I wonder where he got the idea from???
A Police Center in El Sereno???
you can go to Huizar's Press announcements for the other things.

So yes Jose did win re-election, but the COMMUNITY WON - as action occurred by our rep - instead of a few general campaign fliers going out saying nothing at all as those that were done by Gloria Molina who had no opposition in her last election - No Action occur by her - as she had NO THORN for cause to occur.

So I think Alvin achieve a great thing, you may disagree on Alvin, but the things that Jose did can only be DUE TO ALVIN PARRA's CAMPAIGNING.

LA Times said Huizar "was made better because of Parra" Huizar "had a slow start...but a lot of potential". Huizar was not skilled with people skills as Mr Villarigosa, did not well working for the School Board, came as a carpetbagger, elected my Mr. Villaragosa. Parra said he didnt lie, but could prove everything he claimed that Huizar denied; his illegialy udated home in El Sereno,(unethical) in which he still lives,(untruthful) approved the expansion of the waste business in Boyle heights (caters to money movers) tried to blame Gloria Molina; (she was not happy when she spoke with him) so he changed his approach and had a rally, Huizar could never answer a straight question unless he had an aide with him who really knew what was going on in the area or just refused to answer at all. He couldnt make a mistake making a comment if he refused to comment at all.

Where did Parra do wrong, besides not having $349,000 in donations, 40 members on staff, plus his promises to pay or "fix things" for almost anyone who endorsed him? Parra didnt go wrong.. the community did.

The Huizar legacy continues. His newest addition to his rotating cabinet, Chief of Staff Ana Cubas, recently said she was looking forward to having Jose "all to herself" as she accompanies him to La Mesa Redonda Centroamericana in El Salvador.

Meanwhile, Henry Casas, who is always good for a laugh, was spotted in Sylmar driving a city car to his girlfriend's house. Glad our tax dollars are hard at work!
