Election Results Update
As of 11:39, we have the votes of 95,775 of the eligible 1.7 million registered voters -- a whopping 5.6%. Who says democracy is dead?! (Let's hope this is just because the returns are slow to come in.... Yeah, let's go with that.)
Alarcon's got a new job. Huizar's keeping his. Measures L and M passing with big margin.
LAUSD
District 1 - Villaraigosa's puppet loses
District 3 - Pugliese, with 16%, forces a run-off between status quo and mayoral puppet. Good for you, Louis!
District 7 - Run-off between Kleiner and Vladovic. (Who the heck are they?)

Villaraigosa sucks so bad. I'm hating him right now.
I'm praying for damage beyond repair to his reputation. I wish every one of his candidates would lose.
Why won't he just go handle the city? What is motiviating his behavior? Remember when he was the city darling and everybody loved him? Now he is letting the city crash and burn, taken over by Riordan employees.
And the fucking retards who vote for Measure L get what they deserve.

And at 11 p.m. on the Simpsons, Homer knocks himself out stepping on a rake, and wakes up believing he's a candidate for city council.
A laugh riot is enjoyed by all. Except Homer.

Villaraigosa is a career politician. He is always running for the next office. He gets away with it because L.A. suffers from "press release journalism." Here at Mayor Sam, though, we go beyond the photo-ops, to explain the actual public policy issues -- and the related corruption.

NO SCHOOL BOARD TAKEOVER !!!

Er, um, plus he wins his elections, Wacko.
That still stings, don't it?

So will we now see Rodriguez at LAUSD events, new school construction meetings, enrolling her preschoolers at their neighborhood school, mugging at photo ops with Villaraigosa, and suddenly pretending to care about the kids in the Northeast Valley, as she starts her campaign for Korenstein's seat?
Is having a uterus enough to get the job? Oh wait, Tamar couldn't convince a majority in that district that it was enough either.

District 7 also may be heading for runoff. Escondon is pulling 20%. No takeover tonight.

He didn't win the mayor's race the first time he ran, and he had a MASSIVE budget. And were it not for yours truly, you'd be writing about Mayor Hertzberg tonight. Sting? I got 38 votes per $100 spent, versus 3 votes for Villaraigosa et al. Sting this!

It will be very interesting to see who Louis puts his support behind in the runoff--if he can hold his nose and even make that choice.

Could someone please state Villaraigosa's chosen school board members?
District 1 - not LaMotte, but I don't know the other
District 3 - trashy tamar with the stupid name
District 7 - not Escandon
That's all I've been able to pick up.
Can anyone help?

Just came from Galpin Ford where the Community College candidates are gathered, Looks like Roy Burns is forcing Georgia Mercer into a run off,Good for you Roy!
Stopped by Knights of Columbus in Van Nuys and hats off to Jamie and Candy, they have demonstrated you do not have to be a councilman to help your community.
Well Richard, congrats on getting to complete your final two years on the council. Too bad it will only be two as Hernandez and Hayes signed the agreement with Judical Watch yesterday to fund the challenge against Prop R.
See you in court on the 11th of April. Oh, what is the date you are resigning from the Assembly?
I believe it is after the court date. Question, when Prop R is set aside are you going to keep the council seat or will you let it go to do six years in the Assembly?

If Louis were to do the right thing FOR THE DISTRICT, he would stay away from the mayor's pick.
That's the truth and he knows it. He did his best and he forced a runoff. Good for him, but if he's in the know, and he appears to be, he will back Jon who will become the winner.
Parents and UTLA will be out in full force. Lots of people I know voted for Louis who would never vote for Tamar, but are angry at Jon over some school site that they wanted to be a hospital.

Unbelievable low turnout. Too many unopposed city councilman and that is a problem that should be addressed. Like maybe clean money.

"District 7 - Run-off between Kleiner and Vladovic. (Who the heck are they?)"
Vladovic = Villaraigosa puppet
Walter Moore said:
Louis Pugliese: King-Maker!
How about this: the candidates in the run-off debate one another, and Louis serves as moderator.

Jesus will most likely put his support behind Kleiner.

11:27 -- Thank you.
In District 1, Williams was V's puppet.
In District 3, Galatzan is V's puppet.

What's the threshold for a runoff?
Red Spot in CD 14 said:
Walter
LAUSD numbers can be looked at this way.
District 1, 66% voted against mayor
District 3, 55% voted against mayor
District 7, 55% voted against mayor
Only District 5 didn't have the sense to vote for Kayser. Plus you watch Aguilar plot a more independent course.

The turnout isn't exactly rocket science.
No big challenges against incumbents, low turnout.
Off-year (no Mayor/Gov. race concurrent), down even more.

OH, yeah, you were the REAL winner Wacko.
Tell it to the board of directors of your one-man "tink-thank" tonight after the lights are out.
Any nobody's home.

Nobody said it was rocket science, just unbelievably low and pathetic.
It is the unopposed city council candidates that I find unbearable.

The best thing about tonight so far is Alarcon! I knew that would be the case and I'm ecstatic. Outside of the Measure R fiasco, someone had to be the first one to take advantage of it and I'm glad it was him. After being ignored by Padilla for so long, we will finally be served by a good councilman. He won't be so quick to take off because of the excellent pay and pension, so he'll make a great councilman. I think CD 7 will be surprised and pleased.
I don't know what Monica was thinking. Oh right, wasn't she a Riordan employee? Hence the chamber endorsement, although who the heck listens to the chamber??

I can't believe it
Homer won
RECOUNT!

Is this really what we've become?

Louis P. is a class act. It was great to meet you this evening. You are the winner of the "Mayor Sam" most respected politician of the 2007 primary award.
Red Spot in CD 14 said:
"HUIZZY HUIZAR" the "MINI BIG" winner tonight with his election and Prop L passing. Now lets see Huizar establish his own idenity away from the shadow of "HIS POLLONESS", maybe the night's big loser.
Mayor Sam said:
Huizy has every right to now be his own man and call the shots.

Yes Antonio Watch, I do believe that quote you repeated is exactly what we've become. I must agree with that poster. We can't sit around and pretend that the inflated salaries of the city council are exactly what is in the forefront of the candidates
minds. We can dislike it, but we can't deny it.
How much more money will Antonio invest in these run offs? I'm not sure I want to know, but in the meantime all of the normal city business is being neglected. We're all losers.
