LAPD Class Action Lawsuit Re Overtime

If I heard the Channel 4 late news report correctly, an LAPD officer filed a class action for $100,000 in overtime for himself, and multiplied many times over for his fellow officers.

Here's the legal theory: they were required to be "on-call," after clocking out, but were not compensated for same. Therefore, the argument goes, they should get overtime.

On the one hand, if you're not working, why should you get paid? On the other hand, if you have to be "on call," that's going to cut into beer time seriously, and perhaps prevent you from taking that flight to Vegas.

Stay tuned.

And in the meantime, HOW ABOUT HIRING MORE POLICE so no one has to be "on call?!"

I have to give credit to Rocky for coming out strongs against the gang violence and doing more then our midget mayor.

WASHINGTON - Los Angeles City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo barnstormed Capitol Hill on Tuesday in the first hours of a three-day lobbying trip aimed at shoring up support for federal gang legislation.

In meetings this week with House members and California Sens. Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein, Delgadillo said he hopes to build more federal support for addressing L.A.'s gang violence

Perhaps, but I'd prefer he was here enforcing our existing laws, instead of campaigning in Sacramento and D.C. for the enactment of additional laws.

The City Attorney can and should be instituting code enforcement actions all over this city. Instead, he's doing what career politicians always do: campaigning for the next office.

Walter, Rocky has done more about going after the gangs then our midget mayor ever has. Remember he's the ACLU's baby boy. Rocky is hitting gang members where they hurt, he's brought out strong laws going after where they live, cars, material things they get from drug sales, gang injunctions, establishments. Now if only clowncil and mayor stop giving the gang bangers money to pretend they're actually concerned with the issue this city would be safer.
