Bernie Parks is the bomb. He attends every SCAG meeting, reads every f-ing nine inch thich document and keeps those liberal f*cks from wasting too much money.

I would NEVER vote for him for mayor, but some people have their niche --- Bernie Parks for Council President.

bkBitter Bernie needs to move on. HE was the joke of Bratton's roasting and continues to be mad he wasn't reappointed Chief.

Once again wrong
Re the guest column by Bernard C. Parks, "Police union tries sticking us up again" (Their Opinions), and the front-page article "Your grandfather's LAPD" (both on March 20):
Bernard Parks, in his column regarding the police union, is once again wrong in his calculation of how many days Los Angeles Police Department officers actually work, and he knows the correct number since he was chief when the flexible work schedule was adopted. Officers on the three-day work schedule work 13 days a deployment period, and there are 13 deployment periods a year. This adds up to 169 days, nowhere near the "about 100 days a year" he says they work.

Parks also heads the City Council's Budget and Finance Committee. Could his poor math for calculating how many days an employee works contribute to why the city as a whole can't keep track of its finances?

Driving his hatred
Re "Police union tries sticking us up again" (Their Opinions, March 20): It is more than obvious that the 3/12 workweek battle that Councilman Parks lost is still driving his hatred for the Police Protective League, which fought for it. If any other nonminority author had called the protective union a "group of middle-aged men who all look alike and think alike," Parks would be first in line to call that author a racist.

Further, he tries to incorrectly convince the public that financial disclosure will prevent any further Rampart scandals. There was no scandal. Three officers were found guilty of wrongdoing. Three out of almost 9,000. What organization in the world doesn't have one knucklehead in every 3,000 productive, loyal and positive employees?? While we are talking about it, who was the police chief during that episode, anyway? That's right, Parks.
