City And County To Regulate What You Eat

I predicted this one, too, as soon as i heard that New York City banned transfats; the City and County of Los Angeles, having solved all other problems, are now considering getting into the regulation of foods. In particular, they believe that they, not you, should decide what you eat.

No word whether they plan tol appoint Richard Simmons as the Fat Czar.

I don't think even Chairman Mao or Stalin ever went that far. Death camps, sure, but did they ever decide what you should eat?

Here's the story, so you can read it and start packing for your move to a new city, where they don't elect crazy people to public office: http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-fat24jan24,1,4432364,full.story?coll=la-headlines-california .

So what's the scenario if Measure R isn't found unconstitutional? Alarcon serves this half term and another full term?

Just remember that because something is trans fat free doesn't mean it doesn't have lots of saturated fat..which is just as bad as Trans Fat. Don't let 'em fool you into eating more out of their hands!

It's not WHAT you eat, it's HOW MUCH. The French, for example, eat cheeses galore, bread -- whatever they want -- but they don't eat too much of it.

This joint City-County weight loss program is a great opportunity for our elected politicians to show they can be real leaders. Now as I understand it, leaders lead.

So let’s have a public weigh in on the public access channel. All Members of the city council and board of supervisors will appear in latex so we can get a good look at their sculptured bodies.

Next, we can have the County Medical Examiner conduct a physical so we can determine their body mass and see where they score on the national average.

As a City of the Future we should challenge Chicago and its politicians to a weight loss physical fitness competition. The loser withdraws their bit for the 2016 Olympics.

To get things started lets have a contest that all can participate in.

Quess the weight of your local politican. Councilmember, Supervisor, Chief of Police, etc.

So let the games begin, do you want the Olympics in LA or don't you?

Then given the councils solution for most problems, lets rate each politican A_B_C_D.---

Maybe they can start by watching how much Gloria Molina eats. What a pitiful example she is for Latinos. She should have taken that Jenny Craig offer way back in the early 90's.

The old, dead Republican mayor has dropped about 75 pounds without government intervention.

I am willing to counsel Gloria.

You're right Walter about the French. They eat a lot of cheese and crap but they eat small portions and have little heart issues. But they also eat a lot of grains, veggies, fruit and wine. And I have never been to Paris but I suspect they do a lot of walking and other activity we don't do here.

Finally to go with what Coach Witt says fat free items can also have a lot of sugar and salt that the manufacturers add to make up for the lost taste of taking out the fat.

Why can't we just let people make these decisions for themselves?

If Gloria Molina was to lay down on the ground, she would become a topographical feature (THINK AYERS ROCK IN AUSTRALIA)

Sam, you're right about the walking. Here, we drive everywhere. There, you walk everywhere. Maybe that's the solution to mass transit and health: no more cars; you just have to live within walking distance of work.

And congrats on the 75 pounds. That's terrific.
