Public Comment for Wednesday
There's another school out there that is seeking to teach and preserve an ancient culture that lost its homeland and is fighting to keep its language, arts and tradition alive.
Unlike the shady victocrats at Academia Semillas de Pueblo, the operators of the Assyrian American Christian School are not asking the taxpayers to fund this. They are operating a private school that has big ambitions.
Public schools should focus on the basics of reading, 'riting and 'rithmetic - the base skills that will teach children how to learn further and survive in the world.
Culture, values, language and religion should be taught in the home and in private institutions like this.

LA Slimes once again kissing butt to ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) Antonio. He hasn't done shit yet they write this opinion piece.
latimes.com..Arnold and Antonio's elevated politics...The governor and mayor have set a new standard of leadership in California.
THIS GUY I'M SURE DOESN'T LIVE IN LA.
AND KUDOS TO ROCKY. He's not just talking like ADD put going into action on LAUSD. He's going after assets of gang bangers like cars and homes, the truants, making kids wear uniforms. He should go after landlords who rent to these gang banger families. A lot of apt. complexes now have in their rules if you gang bang you're OUT.

Apples and oranges, MS, or maybe that's sour apples.
Your new example is a CHRISTIAN, religious school -- not a public charter school, which anyone can attend and which answers to the government.
Keep trying to find some hook to hang your patently obvious Eurocentric xenophobia on. That one's not only a bad example, but a hypocritical one, considering your party affiliation.
Why, because the GOP has been trying for YEARS (no, make that DECADES), to GET the taxpayers to PAY for their private religious schools. Once it was repeated ballot measures and initiatives aimed at creating "tax exemptions" for people who put their kids in private and religious schools (shifting the greater burden for educating the masses to everyone else, including people who didn't even have kids).
Now its vouchers, which would do the same thing -- subsidize religious, ethnic, and cultural education, at taxpayer expense.
You don't agree with that EITHER?
Then tell the bulk of your party that they're spoiling your arguments.
Or switch parties.

You say "Eurocentric" -- which isn't really even a word -- as if it's a bad thing. Western Civilization is far superior to anything else that's ever been around. Not all cultures are created equal. Look around the world, look at other continents, look at history, and you'll see the rest of the world, through history, has been and remains pretty much a disaster by comparison. In the categories that matter, Western Civilization is superior to the others. Get over it.

Your attitude makes the point, Wacko. But you can't help it for wearing those blinders. You were only taught there was one culture or any importance on the planet.
One size fits all, so "get over it"? You're forgiven; you know not what you do.
Also interesting that you pick out one word, and ignore the actual argument. Does the use of that term change the fact that comparing the 2 schools in question is totally bogus? That most right-of-centers have been trying to fund their private, religious culture forever with public funds, and in public places, unapologetically. Because, after all, this is a "christian" nation, right?
If I removed the word (or non-word?) "Eurocentric" would that help get you over the speed-bump that retards your understanding?
Okay. Consider it erased. Xenophobic makes that small part of the point well enough. Hypocritical is good, too.
This is why the trainer lawyer teaches English for a living, yes?
Arguing the exact meaning of words ("depends on what the meaning of 'is' is?") is far easier that trying to understand the core concepts, or refute them.
I'm over it. Thanks for the advice.

Red Spot good post. What has ADD Antonio done? When is he giving his State of the City? Guess when Matt Szabo thinks of some lies he can say. Antonio hasn't done a damn thing in this city but has the record for the most photo ops from any single person in the history of LA. ICE should hit garment district......
Immigration Sweep Yields 761 Arrests..AP)Federal officials said Tuesday they arrested more than 750 illegal immigrants over the past week in the Los Angeles metropolitan area in what they described as one of the biggest such sweeps in U.S. history....The weeklong series of raids in the five-county region targeted illegal immigrants who had previously been deported for crimes or had ignored final deportation orders....The raids netted 338 illegal immigrants who were arrested at their homes and apartments and 423 who were identified in area jails since Jan. 17. Those already jailed will be transferred to federal custody when they finish serving their state sentences, said Virginia Kice, spokeswoman for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.....Of the 761 people arrested, more than 450 have already been deported, Kice said....The raids were a major push within Operation Return to Sender...Immigration officials have also identified 3,000 inmates in state and local jails who will be deported....The operation targets those illegal immigrants who go into hiding after skipping their deportation proceedings and criminals who have re-entered the United States after being previously deported for crimes committed in this country...
Officials estimate 600,000 illegal immigrants who have ignored deportation orders are still at large, Kice said.
