Sister City experiment in civility - No moderation

We have decided to end message moderation at Mayor Sam.

Let us see if the Animal wignuts can keep their paws off their keyboards long enough to allow this blog to return to what it should be, a free flow of ideas and legitimate debate.

Please try to play nice kids.

On a side note, feel free to read todays Column by Rick Orlov in the Daily News where he reports on Richard Alarcon's move to the City Council. Just remember that we here at the Sister City broke this story last week.

Blog away dum dums.

What does it take to get ANYTHING done in this city by citizens? We're not rich. we don't have lunch with AV or his pals. Our city council doesn't pay attention to us when we speak before them. Why doesn't the city just cut to the chase and tell us how much we need to pay them to get a neighborhood project completed. We won't call that a bribe or a payoff. We'll be realistic and call it the price of living in L.A. We'll have to calculate how much the powerbrokers pay the city to get their projects funded or approved. We can't always come up with the big bucks, but we could sell stuff on e-bay. I wonder what a "Rocky and Bullwinkle animation cel signed by Jay Ward would bring at auction?

Good scoop CJ! But if Alarcon screws over Cindy and betrays the voters of the 39th AD he should be barred from public office.

Before I saw Nygren, I had paid a visit to Parke Skelton, Schiff's general consultant, in his cluttered office a block north of Hollywood and Vine. In keeping with his routine, Skelton greeted me by complaining that I was wasting his time. It was the week of the Democratic convention, and he had a stack of messages from news organizations like The Boston Globe and The Providence Journal-Bulletin. "Don't their cities have their own politics?" he asked. The good-natured grousing was intended to make a point: to Skelton and Schiff, press from outside the district was of little value at this late date, when the D.C. campaign was going well and the national donor network was established. Such coverage, like the convention itself, was a distraction.

That kind of discipline is a hallmark of the Schiff campaign. Skelton, who creates the "persuasion mail," produces the television commercials, spins the press and buys the television time, is earning a flat fee of $100,000 for 16 months' work on the race, one of several he is handling. He does not take commissions. "If I tell a candidate that our tracking shows he needs to take another mortgage on his house to pay for a direct mail," Skelton said, "I don't want him thinking, 'Parke's getting 15 percent of my mortgage."'

El Sereno office of CD14:

"We're very busy now; we don't have time to do that!"

Staffing in all CD14 field offices are at their lowest levels ever. Recent switches and moves have field staffing down by 40 percent, from previous level. Most changes have involved bringing in new, firing incompetent, and keeping inexperienced people - back to square one for Eastside communities.

Mayor to address LAFD hazing
Mayor Villaraigosa wants to say something about the City Council's $2.7 million settlement with firefighter and hazing victim Tennie Pierce and has summoned the media at 4 pm. Talk radio shows have been hammering the settlement, and Villaraigosa ally Jack Weiss, since photos turned up showing Pierce willingly — even happily, based on the look on his face — participating in several hazing pranks at LAFD stations

Parke :
Yes, I am the "real" Parke Skelton, although my Dad, my great uncle who died in the 1918 flu epidemic and my cousin who owns a very nice restaurant in Hartwell GA might disagree. (The name runs in the family like a genetic disorder) And as for Antonio, he is doing what is best for the City. And damn well if I say so myself.

City Ethics Panel OKs Fines for Villaraigosa
Los Angeles Times
December 10, 2003
Author: Patrick McGreevy;

The Los Angeles Ethics Commission approved $5,100 in fines Tuesday against City Councilman Antonio Villaraigosa for campaign finance law violations...

################################

No person, business or community organization ever accused by Villaraigosa and his handlers was ever fined, indicted or reprimanded in any way shape or form. It's Parke Skelton's way of doing campaigns, "I'm right, everybody else is wrong, especially if they're Mexican and opposed to my star client, Tony!"

November 20, 2006 3:54 PM

Anonymous Anonymous said:

And that's just it, that's all Tony ever did, or will do - get a dog park in his district, and right down the street from Parke Skelton's home. Tony has a district with some of the densest neighborhoods and our children literally have nowhere to play. So what is Tony's priority, a dog park! Forget about those kids in Boyle Heights, my priority is my consultant's dogs - and that's why Tony doesn't have any real community support in the 14th, he treats dogs better than his constituents.

Hacopian, Shallman, Griego, Taylor and Skelton. The subpoenas are on the way. Are you ready? You better have your stories straight, especially you Parke.

Sample deposition questions:

How many labor campaigns have you done Parke?
Do you have your tax records on the income received from these campaigns?
Do you have your employee records?
Will your employees be able to corraborate this testimony?
What role does Steve Barkan have in your operations?
During the 2003 campaign, did you ever meet with Tom Newberry?
Your ex-wife Allison Morgan, according to you, is one of the most prolific political fundraisers in the State, how much money has she raised from unions?
Did you or someone for your team ever tell a former candidate for county assessor that "you don't do white guys, just minorities women and gays?

Be careful how you answer Parke, other people are already talking.

PARRA, ALVIN CANDIDACY IS FAKE.

Hertzberg's candidacy was fake. Agreements were made prior to election for contracts
Shallman made deal with Bob, AV, Skelton.

What they didn't know is Bob did better than anticipated and had to be toned down

Mayor Sam,

Thank you for stopping the blocking of the posts. This is great news. I would rather delete half of them than only read the boring ones because people did quit posting here.

I agree about the animal nuts though. They ruined this blog for us like they try to ruin every affair where the mayor is with their stupid, silly picketing. I've seen 4 or 5 of them at the last three events I've attended where the mayor was in the past six months. Whoever they are, make them stay away!

Grateful blogger
