L.A. Times Post-Election Analysis of Measure H

"Measure H polled more than 62% yes votes, but it needed a two-thirds majority to pass."

That was it. Hope you didn't blink, or you would miss it. A $2 million advertising campaign, endorsements from the L.A. Times and, sadly, even the Daily News, and that's all they have to say? The journalistic equivalent on a national scale would be devoting one sentence to, say, the Republicans losing control of Congress.

This is your open thread for Thursday.

Blog on.

Century Housing upset over Prop H FAILURE.

Solution: Hire Latinos, Asians and other minorities to their Board Staff. Have you visited their staff page? 80% anglo and they serve over 95% minorities.

Walter,
How can the public put on ballot for Governor term extension, from 2 to 3 terms?

The terminator should be allowed to run for an additional term in 2010.

Zooma Bee-otch, you have a reprieve, you got until after Kwanzu (or Chaka-Khan?) to file all the petitions for A. Pad's seat on city council. You can get a holiday gig ringing the bell for Salvation Armani, and collect signatures to get on the ballot, all at the same time.

That's an extra 2 hours, or so, of total public comment rambling and babbling over the next 4-5 weeks before the CA's office stifles you for electioneering (and you disappear from public view for 3+ months).

BUT, X-mas comes EARLY for the rest of us!

Q: Why did H fail?
A: The voters didn't want to take through the shorts with "Preparation H"

I believe it was the Daily News that mentioned the idea of a regrouping and recraftng by the Prop H proponents and potentially putting it on the ballot again in the Spring. I think some of us who are opposed should be in the room when these discussions occur. If it ends up on the ballot again without suitable changes, I think we (the anti-H people) must launch a real campaign.
