Underdone and Overbuilt

I haven't contributed here in a while, but I still have a skeleton (Skelton?) key to the place, and I can't bear to see a day go by without a post, so Hello Kitty and Hello City.

Chronic charmer Antonio Villaraigosa was charmed himself today, it looks like. Did you read this story on the meeting between the Mayor and the Chief yet? Brewer said "The Mayor and I are joined at the hip." Antonio said the Chief was "the right guy at the right time."

Wouldn't it be great if the Times scribe asked actual questions on substantive issues---like whether or not the School Chief thinks the District is being overbuilt or not? Instead, we got the scoop for the hundredth time on how a newcomer often fumbles with the Mayor's last name, which is also a notorious westside guy's favorite anglo...er, angle.

Hey, and all you fourth floor wackos---I miss your anonymous comments. Grab a fake ID and go for it. Once more into the breach!

Isn't it a little early for the good Admiral to be making broad declarations on something as complex as the LAUSD building program? Give him a chance to actually start work (real work, not the publicity tour he's been on), take a look at the details of the program and get a sense of the realities.

Anything he says now would just be speculation.

I don't know, Mr. Members. If I've got school enrollment stats in pocket (declining) and I see all these half-built schools around town (expensive) while I'm driving around town looking for a cute little $900K townhouse to buy, and I see a former board member now on City Council with enough money in pocket to have run a winning campaign, I can draw some conclusions pretty quickly.

"HIS POLLONESS" was in "POLLORAIGOSA form yesterday at the "SUMMIT IN THE POLLO KOOP". The "LAUSD SEVEN" should be given credit for standing up to the mayor on his phony takeover in the name of the people. Teachers who I have talk to have express approval of the selection of Admiral David Brewer. This does not fare well for "PUFF DUFFY" and the other members of the "UTLA POTIBURO", as seen recently with "vote against AB 1381" by the rank and file.
In light of todays explosive article on the death of Miguel Contreras in the Weekly. I expect that "HIS POLLONESS" may have some tough days ahead(ie. SEIU 99 CORUPTION TRIAL).

The only "key" to Skelton is money; BIG bucks, dontcha know.

If an aging communist hippie is going to sell out, he's gotta go out LARGE and to the highest bidder. 6-figure SUV's and 7-figure homes don't grow on trees (they grow WHERE trees used to grow).

Hey Joe, you weren't making much sense at 9:57 a.m.

Let's try a little math problem: if the school district as a whole is operating at, say, 125% of capacity, but enrollment declines to, say, 110% of capacity, does that mean it's no longer overcrowded?

Corollary: Just because some Valley schools are undercrowded doesn't mean the inner city neighborhood schools are too.

Further: what the hell does the price of the Admiral's new home have to do with any of this?

Further further: what in heaven's name does Huizar's political fortunes have to do with any of it either?

Your imagination is working overtime but we can't say the same for your legitimate thought processes. How do you know what facts or fantasies the Admiral has in his pocket just yet? Perhaps the reason why he was hired and someone like you wasn't is the simple fact that he has the good sense not to mouth off before he knows what he's talking about and you, sir, don't!

I gotta agree with North Valley NC Members. It will be awhile before they are 'under-crowded'. You might see that might see that in a few instances her and there but the big picture is that there are not enough seats yet.

On the otherhand...STOP send them bond money. They are poor money managers and there's never enough because of it.

It's time to break up the district into a bakers dozen.
