Why is LA Times Reports Laughing It Up With Garcetti During A Quorum (Where Councilmembers & Public Are Speaking?)
They already say the LA Times is nothing more than a propoganda mouthpiece (and mere press release vehicle) for Mayor Antonio Villagrossa. But it's kinda rude (at best) for the President of Los Angeles City Council to be laughing it up with LA Times reporter Steve Hymon DURING a City Council meeting when Councilmembers and The Public are addressing important City issues. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME. (Ask Councilmember Zine who had to repeat himself three times to get Eric's attention during another Garcetti/Hymon Coffee Clatch during Zine's and The Public's discussion of an important agenda item. (I'll try and pull the City TV 35 video on that one, too.)
Common guys. At least keep it off camera if you wanna be rude and ignore other Councilmembers and The Public like we already know you do. (See story on Judge's admonishment of City Council for not listening, then having it blow-up in their faces.)

Zuma Dork,
Stop being such a crybaby. If you don't like it and think you can do a better job, then maybe you're right so try becoming a real reporter yourself, get a press pass and go back there too. Sheesh. The press isn't perfect but they has a job to do and they don't have to be restricted from talking to electeds just because loudmouth gadflies like you can't get anyone to pay attention enough to do more than laugh at your sophomoric ranting. There are better ways to make a difference, and you need to find them...

This says a lot more about the structure of LA government than it does about either Garcetti or Hymon. Why should the 15 people charged with running a city of 4 million waste their time with the minutiae that people bring to public comment. Whether you think the CC is competent or not, wouldn't you prefer that the expend their efforts on more pressing matters?
There should be an altnerative forum -- a civic version of small claims court -- that can allow people to go on the record and get proper responses without bothering the city council. It's a fine system for a small town, but not for a major city.

Well, 1:46 PM, what a brilliant idea, but even better we could just appoint a King and beg for an audience when we have a problem.
If we were too much of a pain in the ass, he could just have us put on the rack or hung from the highest gargoyle.

For the record, like I said in the post (if you bothered to actually read it) this has been happening DURING Councilmember and presenter speaking time as well, during important discussion of City matters.
