Wasn't he suppose to come to LA and get Reggie?

Can't say this is a shock... we all knew it was bound to happen but sad nonetheless.

I should not criticize the late Mr. Irwin so soon after his passing, but... as 10:53 hinted, looking away from a wild animal (at the camera) making sudden gestures and yelling is definitely not making safety rule #1.
He clearly loved his work and was very successful, so what do I know?

As sad as it is this has to be one of the most forseeable deaths in recent memory.

The irony is that it was a stingray, an animal that almost never attacks, that got him.

How long do you think it will take for the film of the attack and death to be sold?

Don't act as if you didn't think of it!

He may have lived on the edge, but Steve Irwin educated a whole generation of kids and their parents about the animals of this earth. He taught us about their beauty, their intelligence, and their wild, dangerous nature. My nieces and nephews all love watching his shows, as do I. He made learning a fun experience for all ages. He will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

Mr. Irwin's untimely death is sad as he leaves a family behind and he was beloved for his entertaining bigger-than-life persona.
But, and this is a big but, he teased the animals he was purportedly "conserving"
for his info-tainment business and he demonstrated unprofessional and extremely unsafe techniques for animal handling. He taunted the animals provoking them into defensively striking back at him, which was manifestly unsafe for his own well-being, as has become tragically obvious.

It's a tragedy that Steve Erwin died. But last night on NBC News, his death was the lead, and the lesser news was the death of 40 Iraqis killed by the insurgents.

Although we have never met Steve Irwin, we have always enjoyed watching Steve’s brilliant TV documentaries, his death really left us with great sadness and numbness. It’s very hard to comprehend that somebody as famous as Princess Diana should go prematurely. Our heart felt sympathy and condolences go to his immediate family and the people of Australia. May his legend live on.
