Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Monday
Burbank, Lancaster and Santa Clarita are finalists for the "Most Business-Friendly City" award by the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corp. All 88 Los Angeles County cities are considered for the best business category, which is based on a city's priority on economic development, reasonable tax rates and the availability of economic incentives. Other cities up for the award are El Segundo and Long Beach. The winner will be named Oct. 5.
Speaking of which, LA City Councilwoman Wendy Greuel and Long Beach Mayor Bob Foster will appear on Patt Morrison's KPCC radio program, Monday at 2:00 p.m. to discuss whether or not LA is business friendly.
Andre Winston Lewis has been named by Mayor Villaraigosa director of the office of international trade and development for the city of Los Angeles. Lewis previously held posts in the Department of State under President Clinton.
County Supervisor Mike Antonovich, will host children from the Farnsworth County Park Summer Program in Altadena Monday as they experience “a real earthquake” in the “Shakey Quakey” Schoolhouse Van earthquake simulator.
Is Newport Beach really like it is on "The OC?" Mayor Don Webb shares the struggles the Orange County community is facing in the latest "Full Disclosure" video blog.
It's nowhere near the size of the one in New York, but Here in Van Nuys reveals the secret of Van Nuys' own Little Italy, part of a larger community around the Van Nuys Civic Center that seems to be under a rebirth.
9:30AM - BPW: Board of Public Works
10:00AM - COUNCIL: Public Safety Committee Meeting
1:00PM - COUNCIL: Budget & Finance Committee Meeting, CANCELED
1:30PM - LAWA: Board of Airport Commissioners

NO MORE TERMS
Wendy Greuel would like four more years' eligibility as councilwoman for Sherman Oaks. The voters in her district would be better served by voting her out of office. Greuel brings big-time developers, big-time projects along with big-time congestion and traffic into Sherman Oaks. The unwanted Best Buy project, the Barone's development purchased by developers from Dubai of the United Arab Emirates for $1 billion, and another blunder soon to come, known as the Water Gardens development. All of this, while apartment to condominium conversions and mansionizing go unabated in Sherman Oaks...But these are her special interests, not the residents of Sherman Oaks, where, by the way, she does not live. Don't be fooled by Wendy Greuel.

LACK OF RESPECT
Our elected officials of late have shown their contempt for the people they represent from the trash collection fee to even not allowing the people they represent to speak. Then to show their utter lack of respect for those who speak on issues of interest in Los Angeles, they let a former councilwoman, Jackie Goldberg, speak as long as she wanted on a totally unrelated topic.
To add insult to injury, they now tell us that they are so stupid that they cannot learn to do their jobs in less than three terms so we should give them an extra term, and more pay. I don't think so. What can we do as voters to hold these people accountable for their actions? Voting them out every four years is not enough. We need to be able to fire them before their terms are up.

Boy I must have missed this on cause I just got an e-mail on it.
latimes.com. This is about a lawsuit with Disney Hall. Didn't those clowns Supervisors like Molina donate $1 mil of our tax dollars to Disney Hall? Yes YES
Steve Getzug, a spokesman for Walt Disney Concert Hall Inc., said Friday that it will meet its $13.3-million share with about $2 million left over from the $274-million construction budget, plus $11 million from "a number of supporters of the Music Center and Disney Hall" who want to be anonymous. Getzug said he didn't know whether the money was raised specifically to pay the settlement. As a result of the settlement, he said, the price tag for Disney Hall now jumps to about $284 million.

This is the most corrupt regime in the history of LA. It's really too late for change, but we need to vote out ALL of them except for Antonovich, who has publicly blamed all the problems on the illegals.
He should be governor, mayor, and everything else.

Never in the history of LA have I seen such negative stories on this city council and the politicans in all the newspapers. Rarely do the newspapers agree but in the past few weeks they have all agreed that the ethics reform ballot measure that includes term limit extensions is a sham. They all have written negative opinion pieces on the city council. Can anyone remember when the politics of our city was this bad? Usually its one politican at a time but all the council is rare.

I know, this makes me reminisce fondly about the good ol' days of pay to play Hahn

Again, that was one person (Hahn). The talk of the city is from those in the know that its agreed we've never seen this type of bad publicity on all the city council members for weeks at a time. How much worse can it get?????
Garcetti is the one most people are disappointed in. He really showed his true corrupt colors last week. Bad bad move Eric.

I remember the last time City Council was this bad. It was before the younger Garcetti, Greuel, Hahn, Weiss crowd took over. Believe it or not, it is a tiny bit better now. Nobody was as bad as Ferraro, Hernandez, Bernson, Goldberg, Galanter, Miscikowski and gang. I get creeped out just remembering them.
I think that Greuel has pretty much ruined her excellent reputation. Please don't whine about "having to do certain things" when you are on the other side. Bullshit. Developer money rules.
This entire story should make everyone forget their negative thoughts about Jim Hahn. So he didn't smile so big. What's the big deal? How different are the two? Be honest.
I disagree with the poster about Antonovich. It's time for a nursing home for him. He's starting to live a Reagan-like existence. Cuckoo Cuckoo.
