Friday Thread
Thought experiment: Think of the LEAST important issue about which an L.A. City Council Member and the MTA could reasonably spend their time -- for which we pay -- arguing.
Buses vs. subways? Bus-only lanes?
Not even close. Councilman Parks and the MTA are fighting over what color to assign to a subway line. Seriously.
Put it in the "you couldn't make this up" file. Read all about it: http://www.dailynews.com/news/ci_4228426.
Oh, and it's supposedly going to cost $640 million to build. How many houses in, and one-way bus tickets to Livonia -- the "affordable housing" capital of the world -- could you buy with that?
Speaking of the MTA, is looking for 300 new drivers. "Applicants don't need a high school diploma but must have a good driving record and no serious criminal background." A frivolous criminal background is fine. Here's that story: http://www.dailynews.com/news/ci_4227887.
Mayor Sam is on a mission, or he'd tell you "Blog away, Dum Dum's."

Sorry, Walter -- the DWP is on my mind. Two days in a row there have been stories about lack of maintenance on the part of the DWP and no one seems to be getting excited about this. What about those notices to conserve? What about those notices that the cost of water is increasing AGAIN? Deaton claims all is good if the customers "abide by the rules of conservation" in this desert community. Wendy Greuel's office (Tujunga) and Greig Smith's office (Northridge) are "handling" the issue. See for yourself:

Neighbors complain for months, but DWP line still leaks
BY DANA BARTHOLOMEW, Staff Writer
LA Daily News
TUJUNGA - For the past four months, a steady stream of water has coursed past homes, scarred driveways, fed algae and filled septic tanks - all courtesy of the city Department of Water and Power.
"It is such a nuisance," said Jean Rising, 76, who has lived with her husband in a small clapboard house for 42 years. "Try to weed in it. Try to get to the mailbox. Your feet are in water.
The water began burbling sometime before Easter when a pipeline ruptured near the water meter of a house [. . . .]
Councilwoman Wendy Greuel intervened and asked the DWP to plug its Tujunga water leak.
"This is not acceptable," said Greuel, who has worked to fix other street water seepage in her district. "We had been led to believe it had been repaired, or would have been repaired quickly.
"And when it was not, we called and asked for immediate action."
Oh, Wendy -- I think "immediate" was around April -- and here it is nearly September.
Then there's Northridge:
Valley water main bursts
Homes flooded in Northridge
BY SUSAN ABRAM, Staff Writer
LA Daily News
NORTHRIDGE - The DWP found itself under fire again Thursday from San Fernando Valley residents after a troublesome water main burst, flooding their neighborhood and damaging several homes.
A geyser of water blew off a manhole cover near Roscoe and Reseda boulevards about 10 p.m. Wednesday, several hours after residents called to complain about running water.
"We first got a call late in the afternoon at 4 p.m. that there was a leak," said Carol Tucker, spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. "A crew went out to investigate and determined that it would need more repairs, so they stabilized and cordoned it off, figuring that it would hold.
"Unfortunately later that evening the lines broke, so there was more water."
And the official DWP comment is -- [ta-dah!] "It appears as though it's been in the queue," said Terry Schneider of the DWP, "that there were other jobs that were important in fixing."
Oh, thank you -- so kind of you to trouble yourself with this slight inconvenience.
DWP customers to City Council and DWP: Sit down, shut up and hold on!

P.S. Walter, I take the train! Don't know or care what color it is. It gets me to work and home, though.

Oops! Maybe it wasn't in Smith's CD12 but in that good-ole-fundraising-fool Cardenas' CD6. I would apologize to Smith but he will pull something soon and deserve a scorn of two or three. Just watch!

what I want to know is does Bitter Bernie have a fruity side to him? All my gay friends whom I adore are masters of interior design, great advice on clothes and colors. Bernie should be doing something about getting all those gang bangers who live in his district some jobs. Or how about simply getting them a market to shop at. We all know they burned down their own community and there's nothing but open space in Bernie's area.

The Bernie Parks/Aqua line was printed by the LATimes over 3 months ago....Come on Walter...you're slipping (even more than usual).

LAUSD takeover bill stalls
SACRAMENTO - Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's school-takeover legislation hit a wall of resistance Thursday and supporters called off a Senate vote as they scrambled to muster support.

Anyone notice the great piece on Smith this morning? Local section of the D.N.

7:44am You moron. Yes it was reported awhile ago but today's paper is stating the results of the MTA vote that happened at yesterday's meeting. Don't be so quick to judge.

Hey, Mitch (9:15 am): Oh, yeah -- we saw it. What else, dude? Go back to sleep -- for our sake.

Not Mitch...sorry to burst your bubble. And nope...I don't work for Smith either. I just like laughing at all you NIMBYs on MS that love the losers (Alger/Cindy).

MEMO TO THE "LA ANTONIA TIMES"
Did you scribes not see the story out of Sacramento pretaining to POLLORAIGOSA's bill not having the votes in the State Senate ? Once again "THE GREEN SHEET" reports the facts and and the wantabee "OLD GREY LADY" of the west ignors news that is negative to POLLORAIGOSA.

The way the Aqua/Rose line is sputtering along, one would think Bitter Barney (oops, typo! S/b Bernie) should be convinced to call it the "dotted" line...

Unbelievable the LA Slimes once again show their bias reporting for Antonio. Everyone else reporting the Senate stalling the bill but not the kiss ass puff piece idiots who make up garbage for LA Slimes. They are so obvious its frightening. BOYCOTT BOYCOTT BOYCOTT BOYCOTT BOYCOTT LA SLIMES PAPER

MEMO TO "LA ANTONIA TIMES" PART TWO
Please remember to mop up the drool on the floor as you report the settlement between the "KENNEDY REPUBLICAN" and the late night hostess in England. Your blantant hit piece cause you thousands of readers. Further, you solidied your reputation as a shrill for the "DEMOELITISTS" in this state. Upon review I did find bury on Page B9 mention of the stall education bill. youdid of great job hiding the negative MAV news.

Who is Cindy?

Cindy Montanez...ran against Padilla for State Senate...got her ass reamed. Alger and the rest of the MS crew were trying to get in her panties (not a hard feat from what I've heard).
Anonymous said:
Cindy was a MECHISTA with Marcos Aguilar at UCLA. She took part in protest and hunger strike for the Chicano Studies Program

She also dropped out of UCLA and despite having a degree...is not a college graduate. It must have been REALLY hard for a latina to get into UCLA when she went. *rolls eyes*

Get some sleep.
I'm not Mitch either, but living in CD 12, I do know that Roscoe and Reseda is right in the middle of Smith's district and has nothing whatsoever to do with Cardenas.
Anonymous said:
And why would anybody come here bashing Cindy Montanez? Unless..... it is someone who wants to run for CD 7 and is scared of her so they start bashing her now?
Hmm.. Felipe? Is that you? Try not to be so transparent.
Anonymous said:

Yes...because bashing people on this blog really translates into the real world. All of that Alger and Cindy support from this blog made them win in the real world.
Idiot.
(And I am a resident of CD 5...because I got $)
