This is the city: Los Angeles, California. I work here. I'm an ex-mayor. Los Angeles is a magnet for people from all over the world. Some of them run for public office. Inevitably some of them stray from the golden rule and rule for those that have the gold. That's when I go to work. My name is Yorty. I'm a dead pol.

MARCOS AGUILAR'S HOME IN ALHAMBRA
TAXPAYERS PAY FOR DINNERS
WE EAT
tlaxcalli to scoop up deer, rabbits, ducks and geese meats, cacao beans,
We play games and call each other Nahuatl names. My name is NECAHUAL (im the slow one), Minnie is called COATL (she's sneaky), Marcos calls himself ICHTACA (maybe bcuz he keeps so many secrets.
We play game called "SOCIETY"
WE divide into 3 groups
divided into 3 classes- slaves, commoners, and nobility( Marcos always picks nobility).
Marcos puts me in slave group. Slaves:The children of poor parents could be sold, usually for only a certain time period. Slaves could buy back their freedom.
My friends were Commoners: Commoners:
The most numerous social group was known as the macehualtin; these people were engaged in agriculture and the common trades. Although they worked the land in family units and were allowed to kept their produce, the land itself was collectively owned by the inhabitants of the neighborhood or calpulli.
Marcos was nobility: Nobility:
The nobilities were the people who were nobles by birth, priests, and those who earned their rank.
We place ourselves in livingroom and go to WAR!

Lucques, since the food (French-California) and wine list are amazing and they've got a nice patio for outdoors evening meals. It can be coin, though.
In 'n' Out for the under $7 meal.

P.S. "Jar" is the name of a restaurant. I don't actually eat out of jars. Not anymore. Not as far as you know.

I love the atmopshere at Tantra in Silver Lake (is it still open?) ... great food, too. For an apple martini it's Lola's all the way.

The clearly best quality resturant in the LA area is actually in Santa Monica.
Capo, on Ocean Avenue is the best ambiance, the best service, and above all, the best food in the LA basin.
Bruce Marder, while he can be a pain in the ass, is a superb chef, and although he owns several other restaurants (The Brentwood; Broadway Deli; Rebecca's) he mostly cooks there as an avocation, even bringing stuff from his home garden.
His wine list is also first class.
But, be warned, it is really pricey. Really, really pricey.

Rebecca's is gone. . .

South Pasadena, Pasadena, Santa Monica???
SHEESH, what part of "in Los Angeles" don't you people get. It don't say NEAR L.A. or in GREATER L.A.
It says "LOS ANGELES". . .
Next you'll be saying the best restaurant in L.A. is the "Los Angeles Benihana's OF ANAHEIM"
BUY ANGELENO
LOS ANGELES, LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT!
(And, of course we all remember Mayor AV's favorite restaurant IN LOS ANGELES (it's Kate M's in BEVERLY F-in HILLS!)
No wonder we had to raise trash fees. . . ALL those L.A. entertainment dollars going to surrounding communities, which (if not for the existence of the REAL L.A. in their midst), would just be tank, parochial, midwest-like two-horse towns where the most interesting thing going on was Friday night Bingo at the Moose Lodge.

How about Ptomaine Tommy's on Alvarado?
Best chili burgers in town; always a great crowd, no matter what the time or day or night.
Get the chili fries for extra heartburn.
You are not a man until you've had a couple of the burgers, an order of chili fries, all with raw onions, and then tried to bang your old lady.
