Open Thread for Tuesday

Our old friend Jon Regardie, at the LA Downtown News has a tongue-in-cheek piece, writing as Mayor Villaraigosa analyzing his plans to takeover the LAUSD and his related Sacramento lobbying trip last week.
There was a lot of talk last week about my trip to Sacramento. Believe me, Los Angeles, you city of the 21st century you, that this journey was not undertaken to scope out the real estate market four years from now. And it was not, as some of the trolls in the media reported, to salvage my proposal to run our school district. I rescue, I do not need rescuing
The article follows in the line of several others Regardie has penned including "My First 116 Days."

The emerging CW seems to be that Antonio "badly miscalculated." That could be true, but I don't think we can know whether or not that's true just yet. In the general haze, to the public Sacto looks obstructionist to Antonio's reform efforts.

That's a key point because before last week it looked like Antonio was losing to the less powerful. Now he looks like a true reformer again in the eyes of the people. The reality is that the deal isn't breathtaking, it's more about perception than about reality.

Hell No Joseph...."a true reformer in the eyes of the people."

Who have you been talking to? You should hear Antonio getting slammed at meetings for being a dictator and power hungry midget all in it for himself. even the people who supported the idea before he left to Sacramento have changed their minds because the bill is too confusing and will cause more problems.

Gotta love Jon Regardie for having the guts to write these fun pieces. I hope he continues. Usually when these writers get noticed they go off to bigger and better and we get stuck with kiss ass morons sucking up to Antonio.
