A hurried dispatch from the ranking United States naval officer in Pearl Harbor, Commander in Chief Pacific, to all major navy commands and fleet units provided the first official word of the attack at the ill-prepared Pearl Harbor base. It said simply: AIR RAID ON PEARL HARBOR X THIS IS NOT DRILL.
The following day President Franklin Roosevelt, addressing a joint session of Congress, called December 7 "a date which will live in infamy." Declaring war against Japan, Congress ushered the United States into World War II and forced a nation, already close to war, to abandon isolationism. Within days, Japan's allies, Germany and Italy, declared war on the United States, and the country began a rapid transition to a war-time economy in building up armaments in support of military campaigns in the Pacific, North Africa, and Europe.

Daily News.."Ask the Mayor" radio show, Villaraigosa said he believes the city cannot afford to pay more to the 8,000-member EAA...
"We are facing a $248 million deficit in this upcoming budget," ...."It would be irresponsible of me to offer more to this group of employees than we are paying other civilian units.
AV really is an idiot. He blames Hahn for the DWP contract but didn't have the guts or balls to say a word during mayoral campaign and hid during the DWP controversey at city council. DUHHHHH!!!! We're in a deficit yet you told council it was ok to give 17% to DWP cause they gave you campaign donations.

Just to show everyone what a complete moron Rosendahl is residents in Venice area were evicted yesterday. These are the same residents that waited 3 HOURS IN COUNCIL ON FRIDAY and that loser Rosendahl just sat there and said nothing. He takes the time to be out in the media with racists like Tony Mohammed for Tookie Williams but the hell with his own constituents. HE NEEDS TO GET HIS PRIORITIES STRAIGHT.

They're not mutually exclusive.
The life of a man about to be executed is pretty damn serious and you can't wait until AFTER he's been executed to save him.
There was nothing the City Council could do to stop those court ordered evictions. And it's not as if this issue hasn't been fought for over 6 or 7 years now.

Somehow the life of a man who started the Crips doesn't seem so damn serious to me. Not in the least bit. I'm cold as ice when looking at the gang graffiti that covers the city.
I don't buy his sorry ass story about life in the 'hood back in the 70's and the innocence of the gangs back then. From that innocence look at what has sprung.
I look at what he has created and believe he gets a secret thrill from it.
Moron. If he were reformed, he would apologize. He won't. Let him die.

If the Harry Reid/Nancy Pelosi/Chuck Shumer types were in Congress in 1941 they would have immediatly said how FDR "lied" to the country in his famous speech. They would have asked what we did wrong that the Japanese got so mad they dropped bombs on Pearl Harbor. Then they would have called on the some international organization and subordinate the US military to that authority. Good thing the Democratic party knew how to wage war back then. How things have changed.

12:02 - are you suggesting that the war response in Iraq was related to the World Trade Center bombing just as the a-bomb attack on Nakasaki and Hiroshima was related to Pearl Harbor?
If so, you are a complete moron. It is most evident to everyone that the two were unrelated and that so-called evidence linking them never existed.
Democrats who question the President's cause for sending American troops into Iraq will likely prevent another stupid preemptive action like this in the future.
