Finally! The day is here. Of course, it is probably just the beginning of the end, as a run-off will most likely take place, but we'll get to see just where your favorite pols stand in the only poll that actually matters. Here's your open thread until updates arrive throughout the day.Downtown Central City East blog notes that another downtown blogger has endorsed Pacheco.
LA Observed noted that we shouldn't keep our eyes peeled for a Times exit poll, as they won't be running one.

No, that would be the Pacheco spin you've been hearing. Nick's the one who stole City funds by having them funneled into a non-profit who then "donated" the amount to his campaign.

Obama is the last in a long line of national Democrats to endorse Ferrer, including former President Bill Clinton, Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts, former Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina, Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean and the Rev. Jesse Jackson.
Ferrer did not win the endorsement of Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, the first Latino mayor of that city in more than 130 years. Villaraigosa's spokeswoman, Janelle Erickson, confirmed yesterday that he's remaining neutral.
Earlier this year, Villaraigosa attended a fund-raiser for Ferrer in Los Angeles. But the event became a public relations disaster for Ferrer, when his aides told the Daily News that Villaraigosa "organized" the fund-raiser and the mayor's aides said that was untrue.

I was speaking to some seniors in El Sereno this morning. They cracked me up.
One said, "Have you noticed when election time comes around, the potholes are suddenly filled by city workers on a Sunday?"
Another said, "I asked my neighborhood council members to
call the council office. They promised to call a department to clean up trash dumped by idiots and it never happened."
Bottom line: nothing meaningful will change no matter who wins.
Don't be jaded! Things are going to change regardless of who wins.
If Nick wins, the District gets more asphalt, better infrastructure, and some Antonio initiatives figure to have more opposition in Council.
If Jose wins, Antonio gets a ferocious loyalist on City Council, and a chance to put through a lot more of his initiatives Citywide, which could help the district too, if more abstractly.
We endorsed Nick---we think the District needs more asphalt than abstraction at this time---but there are up and downsides to both. But one thing is sure: regardless of who wins, things won't stay the same. Not for the District, and not even for Los Angeles.

Things changed in CD14 when Villaraigosa ousted Pacheco two years ago, and it wasn't JUST less asphalt.
A much more complex change took place. CD14 suddenly had a part-time, detached, uninformed, sequestered, and absentee CM with a political agenda where the needs of the district showed up somewhere around No. # 80. He also filled his staff with out-of-towners who took forever to train, and THEIR #1 agenda item as "make the boss look good" (for his mayoral run), regardless.
Huizar says he'll hire local staffers, but after all this does anyone REALLY believe that if AV hands him this win, he's THEN going to fire ANY of what's left of AV's pet Sacramento transplants in favor of his own selections? PUH-LEAZE.
It will be AV-staff, the sequel "The one's too clueless to take to the Mayor's Office."
And, MOST of Huizar's mailings address citywide issues (AV's agenda now), or things he has MORE control of NOW at LAUSD, like education, than he would ever has a CM.
BAIT and switch, at the very best. This is how AV gets ONE MORE deputy mayor (Huizar) without it affecting HIS offices payroll. Lets call it what it is.

Um, if my DATES and the news stories are correct, this conman was either incarccerated, or on the lam in Arizona and/or Mexico the entire time Pacheco was in office 1999-2003.
So, wich out-of-state correctional facility did this "last meeting" supposedly take place in? Was Pacheco doing one of AV's frequent flyer road-trips? (NAH, it's just another conman's lie).

Who is replacing Jose on the School Board? I'm not saying Jose is going to win. In fact, he will lose because he has not done a single thing for the students of the District that would motivate anyone to give him a promotion. Once he loses, he will then decide to leave the Board because you can't live on $24,000 a year when you have a wife and two kids.

You know sounds to me that if he was it is that old addage , improvise , adapt and overcome.
The thing is I live in Central City East and lot of the people on the streets are felons . They have a hard time getting work , so they resort to crime . In Los Angeles it is hard to make a living on a very low wage.
I know that is not an excuse for peoples past behavior.
But I think that this does need to be heard. There are many who have not been convicted of embezzlement. I think for JOhn Rito getting a high paying position with his background and having that sort of record , would make it difficult to get a high paying position.
Nevertheless , I may be changing my mind about the sociopath label I placed on him.
But I do have a problem with him getting a job as a psychiatrist in Los Ageles County . That is not right period . It is dangerous to do things like that you can cause harm to others.

3-4 of them looked like Huizar was running for SCHOOL BOARD again... with all the references to NEW SCHOOLS and EDUCATION (except for the final tag line), which said "for city council." I'll bet tons of people (who don't have kids) threw them out thinking it was one of the races they don't bother to vote for, unless they do.
