Thank you Steve Hymon of LA Times. Great story on the council members wasting our time. He reports the facts.
Right now Antonio is at council in front of cameras during presentation. He needs to spend more time at his desk doing real work.
Joe Ramallo doesn't give a "concerned" quote without it going through 15 people in the Mayor's office such as Ablack and Blackman.
...I don't know what's worse -- being stuck at a City Council meeting while members bloviate in a seemingly endless fashion, or reading the drivel that bloggers think is somehow relevant.

I would have been more interested in it if this was done when Villaraigosa was a councilman, because that guy could run his mouth for days on end. And he's smiling for the cameras now, en route to the Governor's office.

NO ONE is voting for the school bond for LAUSD. Jose has built enough schools, and made enough campaign money. AV is only supporting it because he's running for governor, "because the people want him too" will be his line, and he needs their money now. It's never about the kids...people are moving out of LA, anyone who can afford it are putting their children in private schools.

Antonio is truly the classic "Clown of LA." How in the hell can he think voters want yet another bond measure when enrollment is down and there is a high dropout rate? Is he as dumb as he looks? On KCAL last night he said he will campaign yet again to help get this bond passed. Doesn't he ever do his damn job? I've never heard of a Mayor campaigning for a bond measure. Can he do this on our taxdollars and city time??
No to bond measure. Villaraigosa is an idiot for supporting this bond. Which one of his campaign contributors is he paying back with this bond?

NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH UPDATE.
Right now I have found over 84 neighborhood watches, i need to know how many were in the district before Tony Villar became a Councilmember. I am finding most of the Neighborhood watches by calling Hollenbeck and Northeast pretending to live in different neighborhoods, it's working. I don't want to call the Villaraistas mainly because i think they will feed me biased info. (Chief Faker - April 15, 2005)

On topic? Let's get real. There's all this talk about Council being powerful and the Mayor's office being weak, but most of the time you wouldn't know it by watching Council in "action." I mean, how boring does chamber have to be for there to be motions limiting puffery?
Garcetti is the Council's de facto CLA. He gets good reports from his staff and he penetrates issues beyond the executive summaries. A lot of Council is simply following his lead. But there should be two or three more Garcettis.
Remember Ernani Bernardi? That guy would throw his microphone down in disgust when people went on too long. He listened to everything and everything he didn't like made him angry. Wachs? Wachs was the 1 in every other 12-1 vote. We need more individual thinking like that. It would be nice to see some 12-2 and 13-1 votes.
Now Council, especially towards the end of a session, is like an echo chamber. Nobody's inside chamber for long anyway because security is so different these days. But there's not a lot of entertaining grandstanding because there's nobody to grandstand to. Get a real audience in chamber through the whole session and the eulogies will tighten up all by themselves.
I think these councilmembers are just looking for re-election instead of the importance of doing the cities business. Many of these awards could be given at Chamber, school award assemblies, club and organizational luncheon meetings and dinners. Instead they bore us and take the time of working people who have quality of life issues infront of the council. No one cares about some international star, community activist, winning soccer team, or whatever. Instead the person of the year from communities, teams that win their league or state champs, etc would be ok. But these puffers have to stop.
Off topic but an interesting side note.
To those Huizar supporters who took down Pacheco's banner and signs from his campaign office on York Boulevard, just thought I'd let you know, the AM/PM video cameras up the street caught you. That's over $500 in stolen property. Go ask Huizar what this means legally, he's a lawyer, right?
City council meetings should be a "reality tv" series. They are embarrassing to this city. They are never in their seats on time. Once they do get there all they do is talk and act as if a meeting isn't taking place. What happened to the maturity of grown adults being respectful of a process. There have been meetings on Fridays where no business takes place just all those presentations. I'm glad Steve Hymon pointed that out. Maybe they'll get sued again for wasting our tax dollars and time.
