Street Services Angers A Mayor

Probably not the Mayor you're thinking of, but this old dead one.

Last night I was on my way home and as I came up to my garage, a Street Services truck was blocking my garage. There was one worker snapping Polaroids of a telephone pole, while his "partner" was leaning against the truck sipping some kind of beverage. As I drove up and they could cleary see I was trying to park, they just sat there. (By the way there were plenty of places they could have parked other than in front of my garage.)

This begs a few questions:
  • Why would city employees seek to inconvenience a constituent?
  • Why does it require two employees to take a picture of a telephone pole? (Obviously it doesn't because remember one of the guys was sipping a drink)
  • And what the hell is the city doing using POLAROID cameras? Polaroid film is horrifically expensive and everyone uses digital these days!
Now, a small incident and a minor annoyance at best, but I leave it to amongst our many readers in City Hall who have the ability to do something about these things. Lets make sure our city operations make sense okay?

How about this one..

While waiting in a left turn pocket in Downtown a big yellow Street Maintenance truck directy infront of me decided to back up for the first car ahead of him becase it was blocking the cross walk. He crumpled my hood and push my grill and bumper back two inches, and had the gall to say he didn't see me behind him!

Anon: but pissed....

Just get rid of Yolanda Fuentes (i.e. Jabba the Hutt) and things will work out for the better.

Mayor Sam....

You are analyzing too hard...it is transparent. A politico is upset with you, will try to make your life miserable, if it means blocking your garage, they will.

Mayor Sam, welcome to the world of politics in the CD 14. These are the tactics we dealt with for years.

If you're interested in potholes, read this new (9-29-05) San Fernando Sun article on Alex Padilla's shenanigans on Pacoima asphault plant expansion. Once AGAIN, he flip flops from his position. Just like every single planning issue in C.D. 7, 'unexpected opposition' at public hearings throw Alex into a limbo.

No wonder you didn't get endorsed by Sierra Club, while running unopposed in March.

Alex Padilla wilts Montanez shines.

Street Maintenance GM is William Robertson. He's a good decent man trying to run a department, satisfy the mayor, the Board of Public Works and deal with employees. They couldn't pay me enough to do his job.
