Chick Gets Fraud Unit
The City Council has voted to give Controller Laura Chick the resources to set up her "Controller's Waste and Fraud Unit.""This vote today sends two very clear and loud signals. First, the elected leadership of Los Angeles is serious about eliminating waste and fraud. Second, whistle blowers have a place to go and be heard with a guarantee that their concerns will not fall on deaf ears," said City Controller Laura Chick.
"My audits have been a major tool of my Office in spotlighting problems in the City. This Waste and Fraud Unit will add to those efforts by acting as a very focused "Strike Force" to investigate credible whistle blower tips," said Chick.
The motion authorizes $240,000 to set up the Waste and Fraud Unit within the Controller's Office.
"It is our responsibility to the taxpayers of this city that Los Angeles conducts its business with the utmost integrity and transparency," said Councilmember Wendy Greuel. "We must provide the Controller's Office with the resources necessary to enhance its function as the city's watchdog and to ensure that our departments and agencies are accountable."

Sounds like another payback from Antonio for Chick's endorsement. We're millions in debt and yet they can find $240,000 for this fraud unit. Please, something very fishy is going on.
Remember Chick was the one who signed off on a $4 million check to Fleishman Hillard without even knowing what it was for. After the story broke in papers on padding of bills then Chick comes out after the fact.

This is a woman who speaks from both sides of her month. What about the trips she took while her former husband was on the Airport commission. What about the trip she took while she was on the City Council paid for by the Harbor Dept. Has anybody investigated Chick for her campaign fundrasising. Chick will do what is neccessary to move her career forward. I know people that will drop stuff on her when the time is right. The woman is has her sights on higher office and will step on people to get there. She has no backbone, her word cannot be trusted.
This is the woman who signed off on the Christmas checks for Las Madres that they used for turkeys and toys then she ran crying to Parke that Las Madres were putting that money into Nick's 2003 campaign. Then she ran to Parke and gave them confidentrial information on Hahn - yet no idictments yet. This is her pattern. She's is Parke's stooge and will do anything he directs her to do. Two snakes in the grass. It isn't long before karma strikes.

Acevedo is dirty as they come, he's been lucky so far and hasn't been caught. He knows very well his days are numbered, that's why he's taking a low profile. His finger prints are on all sorts of stuff from market issues to ripping the city off on a land deal and using his boys to help him land alot of deals. Everyone knows he'll sell his mother out to save his own skin. The funny thing is, Acevedo thinks he's the GodFather, but he's afraid of his own shaddow. He's hiding and hopes the DA doesn't catch up with him.
Chick should look at AV and see what the connection is between him and the Florida group. There was more than one meeting and everyone missed it. Why was Gastelum involved in one of those meetings the papers referred to. Shouldn't this raise questions. Isn't Gastelum the one that brought Wong down. Poor Wong, he just tried to help a friend and got sucked in to all this investigation. Chick should be looking at Gastelum, AV, Ron Martinez and where the links are.
Gastelum won't be touched. He's too close to Antonovich and Cooley won't risk his budget. But Art Gastelum is an interesting story. How does a Deputy Mayor under Bradley end up buying a Magic Johnson replica mini-mansion in San Marino? And how does Andy Camacho, who has restuarants in 3 city venues - Olvera Street, the Airport and Universal Walk, end up on the trust deed? And Ron Martinez just purchased beach front property in Ventura - a funny purchase since his wife Gloria Molina is supposedly allergic to the sun. And Ron and Gloria also ended up with some apartments in El Monte - remember Gloria went out of her district to oppose a Wal-Mart in neighborhing Rosemead. There is a lot of stuff out there, enough to write a book. Too bad their aren't any journalist with the intestinal fortitude or brains to scoop all this.
Ron Martinez is running all over town with his Korean girlfriend and Gloria doesn't even care. Ron was trying to get his girlfriend a concession at the airport. Miguel Contreras killed it and Ron was trying to go after Miguel like he did with Wong. Wong got hurt because the intended target was Gastelum. Martinez wanted to hurt Gastelum so bad,Wong just got caught in the cross fire. I think Gastelum is still being looked at and the wait is for something big against him. Whatever happen to that Clark Davis character? Wasn't he in bed with the DA's office and wore a wire and still works as a lobbyist. I remember reading he also got Antonio in trouble over that Florida deal. That Davis character is something else.
Andy Camacho, now that's a name in the past. Andy gave Gastelum his home in San Marino. How can a Bradley Aid making just $35k afford a home in San Marino? Gastelum thinks he's teflon and the DA won't touch him. That's too bad. Gastelum is greedy, look what he's done to friends let alone what he's done to his wife. She can't even be a part of the circle like Gastelum has his kids in at the office. What a joke, but you know that Gastelum is smart, so far so good. NO DA, NO charges against Gastelum
Gloria doesn't care because she has her little fem all sequestered in that South Pasadena apartment. Pat Bond, Gloria's late consultant and the one who took her from being a mini-skirted secretary - 'a la Lewsinsky - to being one of the most powerful Latino politicians in the country - what a sad state Latinos must be in - anyway, Pat Bond always said that Ron was going to ruin Gloria's career.
Why hasn't the DA gone after Ron Martinez. The word is he's got deals everywhere. OH, I forgot, Gloria can hurt Cooley's budget. Ron Martinez went after Miguel Contreras and got hurt when his girlfriend didn't get the coffee concession at the airport. Ron has alot of resources to buy property in Manhattan Beach and in Ventura. Where is that money coming from. He's not working and Gloria doesn't make that much from the County. What about all his DUI's, he gets away with everything

You forgot about Ron's cocaine conviction in Arizona, where he's from. Rumor has it he ended up in California to escape a child molestation charge that came along with his cocaine bust.

Yes she does, and from my exprience she smells like one.
Ever notice that Chick has to wear special shoes. She has this disease on her feet that prevents her from wearing regular shoes. Isn't that too much, kick ass chick can't even wear regular shoes. Oh yeah, she used her ex husband to get elected to city council, then dropped him like a hot potatoe. Just like chick, use you and spit you out.
