for resignation at the news conference.

Who: Mayoral candidate Bob Hertzberg

When: TODAY Monday, February 28 1:00 p.m.

I heard that, too -- from Hertzberg's people. This is a pretty good indication of how little respect there is within local media for this race. You would think we had 5-6 Rodney Dangerfield's running around stumping for Mayor.

Hertzberg is sounding a bit desperate, now that Villaraigosa is cruising and feels assured of a runoff spot. Hertzberg needs to appear to be the angel of reform hovering over the current admin. to make a last-ditch push to move ahead of Hahn for the other spot in the two-way. This could just as easily backfire - if there's nothing but smoke. I'm not sure his advisors are doing him a huge service here, but maybe he has nothing to lose. He can't win in a paid media shoot-out.

Mayor Sam please complain to LA Observed. It is calling your site an "anti Villaraigosa gossip blog". This is not anti Villaraigosa "gossip" - this is a genuine outpouring of anger against a councilmember who has used his constituents for his own political career and personal agenda!

Bob lost when Antonio got in the race. You couldn't have Hahn & Hertzberg in a runoff with Antonio in the race. And for all Hahn's problems he is the incumbent, has lots of money and there are no idictments in sight. So, it's clearly a "Hail Mary".

Tell that to Bob, he's picked up quite a bit of the anti-Villaraigosa crowd on the Eastside in recent weeks, since they don't want to see a 2001 rematch of ADV vs. a weakened Hahn, and (they feel) Hertzberg's the next best opportunity to keep Antonio out.

"This is not anti Villaraigosa gossip"

Whatever, folks. Keep telling yourselves whatever you need to believe that.

Just take a step back and read through these comments. The anti-Villaraigosa sentiment is way, WAY over-represented on this blog. And most of it is gossip and innuendo -- very little facts.

This blog is becoming a caricature of itself.

The previous poster is missing something. if Villaraigosa wins the election I cannot believe you will say, "Villaraigosa was way over represented." No, you will say he had overwhelming support. I say to you that the reason this site has turned "anti Villaraigosa" is because lots and lots of people from the eastside are genuinely upset with him.

What a two face hypocrite Bob is turning out to be. He has the nerve to send letters to Hahn and the media saying he doesn't want this campaign to be NEGATIVE. Bob is desperate and did horribly yesterday on Channel 4. I'm sure his people would love to think that he will get a lot of votes on the Eastside but that's not true. I know of a slight handful of people. Bob is starting the negative campaigning and he just lost my vote

Unfortunately for any Villaraigosa "lovers" that might want to post here in opposition (none from his district as far as I can tell), their campaign rarely gives them anything factual and positive (post 2001) about their candidate to counteract criticism. Their entire focus has been on destroying Hahn's chances. If they have accomplished that, or nearly so, it doesn't appear they made any plans to bolster their own candidate's chances of succeeding him -- they assumed he would be crowned king as soon as the old king was "dead" but many people seem to want to erase 2001 entirely and start fresh without either of that race's candidates as their choice.

Good PR move, however, to do this from his Eastside campaign office, rather than in the Valley or somewhere else.

SHAME ON YOU BOB. WHAT A MORON. IF HE THINKS THIS WILL GET HIM MORE VOTES HE'S SADLY MISTAKEN. HE COMES OFF FAKE AND NOT A GENUINE PERSON. ANYONE WHO WOULD SUE THEIR OWN FATHER AND NOT WANT TO PAY CHILD SUPPORT FOR HIS OWN KIDS NEEDS TO TAKE ANOTHER LOOK INSIDE HIS OWN LIFE BEFORE THROWING STONES.

And if Hahn did take Hertzberg's "advice" and ask some of his people to resign, the media would say Hahn was desperate and pandering for last-minute votes.

Everyone knows Bob is a total loser. He's been on another planet with his school break up plan. I agree with previous poster about him not wanting Hahn to be negative then coming out negative himself. Who made Bobble Head Bob judge and jury? He took money rom special interests in Sacramento and lets not forget he also took money from BFI. He wanted to split LA. He is a very strange weird man.

He's looking like an idiot especially after making such a big stink last week about telling Hahn not to make this campaign negative. Bob can't be as stupid as he looks. I love the way Laura Erickson on Channel 4 nailed him yesterday about TAKING MONEY FROM VEGAS. Bob said he can't remember. Please be a man and own up to it Bob and the money from BFI. I'm waiting for his Karma to come around.

I give Laurel Erickson so much credit for being tough and throwing out hard questions yesterday on Channel 4. Not only did she make Alarcon come off as a bambling idiot (he did horrible) but nailed Antonio on taking money from casinos and his reply, Well it was ony $2,000 out of $2 million) as if that still makes it right. She caught Bobble Head Bob totally off guard with her question about him taking money. Previous poster you're right on the money. By not answering Bob looked as if he was hiding something.

Very disappointed in Huggy Bear Bob. Why would he stoop so low after saying he didnt want this campaign to get negative? Agree with posters that Channel 4 threw hard ball questions and Bob came off weak and as if he was lying. Blood left his face as the camera showed him stumbling for an answer

FROM MEAT:

I think Bob is right on for calling for those resignations.

Especially since the pipe trades are about to dump 250k in the mail bashing him. And Carrick has dumped the OR file to (linda) breakstone for her bash bob exclusive on wednesday.

Bob is gearing up for one of the toughest political fights of his life in the next 8 days.

This city is about to be reminded why Hahn has to go --- and unfortunately for this city he's bringing out the guns on Bob.

This only strengthens Antonio's hand, which is why Hahn was hellbent on passing the sales tax legislation so he can campaign on that and not have to defend his negative campaign on Bob and his gotti-like administration during the entire exhaustive general election.

Wearing lil jimmy down, inch by inch, day by day, he's going to wish he never heard of being mayor, when MEAT and company are through with him.

can i get an amen!

MEAT you are so full of yourself. All Hahn has to do is remind people why they didn't vote for Antonio in 2001. Cause he not only supported a drug dealer but took money from the family. He's taken money from his neighborhood councils, taken money from Fleishman Hillard and has major baggage that is about to come out. Think of all those women MEAT. I know you can't really be that dumb. I know you know and are praying they don't come out. Good luck

FROM MEAT:

Umm all i can say is please, please go negative on Antonio.

Go negative so i can tear mr hahn a new one -- the voters of Los Angeles are going to know the REAL JIMMY.

The anti-semtic jimmy.
The Anti-woman jimmy
His prowness at home...the wife is playing on a different team now.
His record of actually letting criminals goes -- you bash Antonio for a letter, i have evidence of him letting killers right back on the streets to kill again.
Why do you think he only does press conferences with cops, so that when the "real" info comes out it won't be taken seriously because lil jimmy is sooo pro-cop.

This is the same guy that supported Chief Gates -- i think the endorsements Hahn got today need to be reminded of that, and they will be.

So while everyone claims to have the real evidence, i actually give you some snippets of whats coming up from the internal depths of Hell for little jimmy.

So bring it on, keep on bringing it on, give your worse, because it will only put a huge smile on my face.

Hahn did well tonite , parks , did well , antonio did well too, hertzberg did well, and alrcon was way back in the 80's. They all hit on th eissues of homelessness. Boy they all started blaming sacramento after calling Hahn making excuses , they all know the truth , they will have to face termemd out assembly people when they run for reelection if they win. ANd then they will wind up looking like whining excuse makers , because it is true. Los Angeles is caught up in the steal , from local city coffers conundrum.
