The Legal Defense Fund

HahnDetails are still being learned, but our fine Mayor appears to have created a legal defense fund to defend himself against the allegedly false allegations of corruption against him and his administration.

When asked about this disclosure on Thursday in an interview by John Schwada of Fox 11 News (not online, seen on Thursday 10:00 PM newscast) Mayor Hahn responded, "I didn't think I wanted to have to spend campaign funds on legal fees. This is a common practice."

WHAT THE F@#$! Common Practice? For whom is this common practice? Every example I have been able to come up with so far is other scandal plagued administrations and I can't think of a single one that came out well for the administration being defended.

Who would donate to such a fund? You guessed it. PRIVATE CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTORS. Now before I jump the gun, as the official filings won't be available until next week, who wants to guess who the donors are and what their ties are to Mayor Hahn?

For his sake, I hope none of them have contracts with or business pending with the city, because that is the very problem that got him into this mess! I think I'm getting ill just typing this...

Recall the post from the Fly on 1/14/05 exclusively on Mayor Sam's site:

"Truth or Dare:

JH: Was the meeting with a famous defense Attorney (for now nameless)to raise more funds for the re-election or.....? Is that a new "go between shadow" between you and TE or is it only the imagination? Also, how does cash get reported - Is there a special form????"

I guess we all know what that meeting was all about and where that cash is going. I don't recall any disclosures needed for a "Legal Defense Fund"!!!???

Shame on you JH. If you would have any class at all, you would quit while you still are a free man.

Hey, was that AV in Westwood today with his hat out.... Don't they have a massive contract with the city??????

It is COMMON PRACTICE for all fines to get paid by a legal defense fund with donations from private contributors.

Every City elected official will use this mechanism to pay their fines.

FLY where was AV in Westwood? People are saying he's looking pretty haggard. I think this is all taking a toll especially losing yet another endorsement last night at East Los Angeles Democratic Club that went to Alarcon. His afforable housing plan is a joke and yet another scheme for him to take credit for something he didn't do...

I'm telling you, Tony V. is down for the count. Labor support going to Hahn was no surprise, seeing as how he's spent the last four years practically giving labor free money, but it took the wind out of Tony's sails. County DNC going to no one was a huge blow for him. He's scrambling, and it shows. Evidence the bullshit housing project Chief Parker wrote about yesterday. Funding the trust fund? That's it? That's his big idea (which wasn't even original)? What a loser. Even though he didn't do anything, it didn't keep him from making a splashy press event about it; check his website for the release, he makes note of the fact it took place at a housing project deveoped by the Menorah Housing Federation. Now, I'm all for reaching out to all parts of the constituency, but doesn't Antonio's ploy reek of desperation? Come on, of all the voting blocs he laid claim to in 2001 or may this year, that certainly ain't the one. He's running around like a chicken with his head cut off, clucking in every single direction, but simultaneously, none at all. Have fun defending the little man now, Meat.

Unbelievable. Do you all realize what Hahn just said?

It is common practice for CROOKS anD CRIMINALS to have others pay for their crimes, misdeeds, punishment and legal fees for those activities?

Hey, prior poster. There is a difference(even though not much)of a fund that pays for technical violations, genearally of 'unintentiona' campaign violations.

It isn't or shouldn't be common practice for those 'other' categories.

What the hell has happened to Hahn's dicussions of his father's and his familie's reputation for integrity and honesty, etc.

That double talking, two faced, unscrupulous S.O.B is more and more sounding like some......unrepenting criminal. Now where is this grand jury ?

That DORK, DUMB _ _ _ _, who we call our Mayor, doesn't have the common sense to even know the name of our Heisman Trophy winner, National Championship MVP quarterback. What a fool he looked at USC when he first called him 'Mike' and then afterwards continuously mispronounced differently his last name.

Now I ask you, if the Mayor of our town cannot even be prompted and prepared before his USC appearance to do this correctly, is it any wonder that he has SCREWED UP THE CITY ?

Dump this guy, send him to any junior college and see if he can survive without his great father leading him by the hand.

What a fool. What an embarrasment to all of us he claims to represent !!!!!
