Battle of the Blogs

RH_AVNot to beat our dear friend Mack Reed over at LA Voice to the punch, as I'm sure he will give a much better breakdown of the websites wars, but Villaraigosa has re-entered the blog wars after a failed attempt during his initial site launch.

It remains to be seen what threshold of comments they will allow, as I'm sure much of the comments here at Mayor Sam regarding Villaraigosa would get filtered before reaching the public on their bandwidth, but if they take a lesson from Hertzberg's blog, you will see that they leave even critical comments up for all to see.

It will be entertaining to watch as the blog wars heat up, as even after all of the energy Hertzberg has devoted to his web presence, they still don't generate near the comment traffic we do. This is probably due to the anonymous nature of this site and the fact that I'm sure both campaigns can IP track, but we shall see.

On another note, you will also notice that after once calling the Google Ads a cheap trick (*article below), Villaraigosa has wised up and followed Hertzberg's lead yet again, and has purchased Google Ads. They are roomies yet again. Small world, isn't it?

Hertzberg Rides on Web Coattails of Political Foes
You've heard of politicians riding the coattails of influential figures in their party, but Los Angeles mayoral candidate Bob Hertzberg has figured out a way to ride the coattails of his political foes.
Web surfers who type Jim Hahn's name in the Google search engine and press enter will find a sponsored link to Hertzberg's campaign website, http://www.changela.com .
"Want a better L.A.?" the changing, paid link said on one recent day. "Bob Hertzberg for mayor, to change L.A."
The second website listed is the mayor's official site, http://www.lacity.org/mayor , and the third is his very out-of-date campaign site, http://www.jimhahn.org , which touts him as mayor-elect and sports a three-year-old Times article on how he spent his first day in office.
Using the same search engine, type in Richard Alarcon, Bernard C. Parks or Antonio Villaraigosa, the names of three other major candidates, and the same Hertzberg ad and link pops up. Alarcon's website is http://www.alarconforla.com ; Parks' is http://www.bernardparks.com . Villaraigosa just announced his candidacy this week.
"It's just another cheap, dirty trick," said Ace Smith, a political strategist for Villaraigosa.
Hertzberg political consultant John Shallman defends the strategic Internet buys. "If those guys had been out there and thought of it first, they probably would have done it themselves," he said. "It's smart and it's aggressive."

Loverboy, I agree with you. What a lousy topic. On the issue of you voting for Antonio when he has such a lousy staff: who do you think hired them?

You all know damn well there is no way Antonio will allow the blogs like Mayor Sam. They will make sure they say something positive like "what a good job he's done" LIE..etc.etc. Don't ever disagree with Antonio at a community meeting. Hell, I've seen him be extremely rude and outright ignore you while you're still talking. Without a doubt he needs a good whipping for bad manners.

What an asshole Antonio really is! Again using his own communuity for his own personal gain. People are outraged that Antonio scheduled a give back gun day in Boyle Heights on the same day and just down the street where he's having his moblization volunteer event. Does he think we're really that stupid? I hope the Recall people are out there cause you know Antonio is using getting guns back from gangbangers to attract the press and then using the press to get to his volunteers. Asshole. Many of the recall volunteers live right in that community. I say it's time to come out!!!!!@@!!!!!

I don't know if Antonio thinks we are stupid but he knows the press, especially the L.A. Times, are never going to criticize him, so he doesn't care. Does anybody know why the Times is so Villaraigosa friendly?

Maybe the Times is pro Tony V. because in comparison to Hahn he is the better candidate. I keep seeing comments on Tony V. using his staff on his campaign. What about Hahn using his staff, commissioners, the full time ones and the others to raise support and money? Is anyone paying attention to his own use of city employees??? This is ridiculous. Media should take a look at his staff's schedule and see whether they are taking leaves to help Hahn win thus saving their own as*#s and jobs. It's still early too, haven't seen anything that hasn't already been said. Maybe Hertzberg or Walter Moore is the better candidate...stay tune

Now that you see Cynthia Ruiz on Antonio's host committe for his birthday (who the hell has a host committe for b-day?) maybe you'll accept the fact that she was openly campaigning for Tony while she was a commissioner. Antonio doesn't have any plans of his own. When is Huggy coming out to slam him on those AB bills he's taken credit for? Huggy said it was going to get "personal" with ANtonio but we're still waiting Bobby.
