Mayor Sam Exclusive: Is Los Angeles County Supervisor Gloria Molina eyeing a return to LA City Hall in 2013?

A longtime political operative has told Mayor Sam that Los Angeles County Board of Supervisor Member Gloria Molina  is seriously considering a run for her old CD 1 City Council seat in 2013.

Molina, who many consider the top Latina politician in California, served on the City Council from 1987-1991 when she continued her historic trail-blazing by becoming the first Latina elected to the Los Angeles Board of Supervisor, after achieving the same distinction in the State Assembly and City Council.

Currently serving her last term on the Board of Supervisors, if Molina were to decided on running again for CD 1, possible challengers include Assemblyman Gil Cedillo, current CD 1 City Councilman Ed Reyes Chief of Staff Jose Gadea , CD 14 Councilman Jose Huizar Chief of Staff Ana Cubas and local businessman Jesse Rojas. No doubt this field would thin out if Molina declares for the seat.

** Another political observer opines that Molina returning to the Horseshoe would be huge, but does she really care to......

** Further speculation ...... Does a potential Gloria Molina return to CD 1 in 2013 set up Molina to achieve history again in 2017 by becoming the first "Latina Mayor of Los Angeles"?

Your thoughts..............
