Why Paul Krekorian Will Easily Win Re-Election

He meets with community leaders, listens and delivers.  Any other Clowncil members or wannabe Clowncil members doing that?

This is one race not even worth covering. However, I do hope PK agrees to appear in one forum. Incumbents should have to face their opponents in public at least once. They owe that to the public.

I think Bisani is running so he can help raise awareness on important community issues that otherwise would not have a chance to be heard.

Yes Joe, that's you in black and I'm in the red hair and red sweat shirt behind you ("MJ") signifying that Valley Glen took a back seat to solving for voter turnout in Sunland - Tujunga.

My two VG precincts were deeply in Paul's pocket (80% because we did door to door flyer campaigning).

The goal became, how do we cream Chris Essel in Sunland - Tujunga so she can get a higher paying unelected job than Paul (oh well). Nevertheless, you, Abby Diamond and many others made the election a great cake walk.

Well Tom LaBonge did for a while meet with neighborhood council members. But he kept running into accountability issues with the pesky public and of course there is that Tom Labonge convention center he wants in Griffith Park. He just stopped listening to the community leaders. Mr. Garcetti sort of did but never was much into it.

Michael, PK will win in a walk.
And yes, he has been attentive and outgoing.
But come one, the guy is from the machine.
Name the last stand up person in Sac-Town to come out of LA?
You mentioned in another post that he has been under a microscope, and he has been because he has money men to answer to.
I think in his first full term he'll be no different than any other Clown.
Call me cynic.

He'll win easily because no one else who's competent wants this job.

The city will declare bankruptcy this year or next. Guaranteed.

Still, I'd like to see a forum.

So Joe,

Doesn't some of your happiness with Paul stem from your easy access to him?

I live just a bit closer to the CD 2/CD 7 boundary, and Paul's office has been reticent to do things for those of us too close to that boundary.

Example - the deadly intersection at Foothill and Osborne/Little Tujunga side. We desperately need more traffic control there. A new school in the area has added a bunch of parents who feel it's no big deal to turn left in front of everyone if their kid might be late to school. Where is the left turn light? There is also inadequate striping on the NB Osborne/Little T side of the street, with people pretending there are two or three lanes there at their whim of the moment.

You look at the map of CD 2, and the boundary cuts straight across Osborne Place where the intersection is - the whole intersection is clearly in CD 2.

However, CD 2 wont touch it and sends you to Alarcon's office. It goes without saying how much traction a CD 2 resident gets in CD 7.

Meanwhile, we all continue to take our lives in our hands at that intersection.

Just one example.

MJ, there we were 5 feet away from each other and didn't have a clue who the other was! I'll recognize you next time.

To 1:45 pm. Paul's staff do read this blog. I suggest you give them a call and explain the situation just as you did here. Contact me if there's anything I can do to help.
Contact info is at sunlandtujungaalliance.com

This is coming from another part of CD 2. Sure Paul meets with the community. Sure Paul is a nice guy. And that is not enough to sit back and earn a seat on the horseshoe just by default either. (Yes, I wish someone else had the guts to challenge him).

Krekorian is untested in the one area that truly counts (putting aside budgetary issues) - development. In this case, in the eastern part of CD2. Do people know that a massive development is planned in Sherman Oaks, right by the intersection of the 405 and 101 Freeways? That when Krekorian ran for office he said to Sherman Oaks that he would not support ANY exceptions to the local land use laws. And that this proposed project seeks numerous exceptions to that same set of laws, besides other entitlements?

No, they don't. So, just remember Sunland Tujunga to keep a careful eye on what Krekorian does on this project. Because if he screws Sherman Oaks, he will do it throughout the District.

Sure, he can't be stopped for his first term, but he can for the second.

Krekorian has screwed the whole city when he allowed that DWP rate hike after it was established the DWP stooges lied to the council.

He also had a hand in watering down the rate payer advocate.

If you like paying higher DWP rates and want them to keep squeezing you, then vote for Paul again. You deserve it.

I agree, the DWP vote was a major mistake on Paul's part. He should have represented his people and voted to allow the motion for the Rate Payer Advocate to be put on the March ballot, so the the people decide how to vote for themselves. His excuse for not doing so was terribly flimsy and embarrasing. His claim that another ballot measure will handle the situation is a joke because of the way it was written to favor the DWP and city hierarchy. We the people got screwed again by the Mayor and the DWP, with the help of our city council of course. I'm disappointed that Paul didn't man up and Vote Yes in favor of the motion. He definitely has some explaining to do at a public forum.
I don't think people need to be more more enlightened regarding issues going on in this.city. We what we do need is representatives who won't sell their souls and who will stand up and fight to do what's right in order to make L.A. a truly solvent city regardless of their own agenda.
One mistake won't mean that I'm ready to kick Paul out of office yet and hope he learns from that mistake which was a biggy. But, I will be keeping an extra eye on him in the future.

I liked Krekorian the moment I met him. I wish he was my CM. He is exactly the type of elected representative that this city needs. Since taking office, he has not become big-headed and over-important - a contrast to Carmen the clown Trutanich, who thinks he's so special. I do hope that now that Trutanich has decided to run for DA, Paul will run for City Attorney and rid LA of the clown.

I called Paul's Sunland office on that Foothill-at-Osborne intersection too. Recently in fact. A guy in a tricked-out black pick-up turned left directly in front of me cutting me off. Two more cars did the same right behind him. Some had kids in their cars with them. Major child endangerment.

I was told it was Alarcon's district. The end. Apparently the councilmember's office did not want to investigate the situation at all nor work with Alarcon's people if needed to solve an ongoing dangerous situation.

Should we always call you Jeremy rather than the field office?

Petra,
Nope, our field office staff is more than capable. It may indeed be an issue that another council office needs to look into. I just want to make sure we have all the information so I can pass it on to the best person...

Paul voted twice for Michael LoGrande to be the new head of the Planning Department (as a member of the PLUM committee and on the full council vote), the SB1818 motion that he hyped in the press is stuck in his own 3-man committee (he blames Reyes, which is a crock), and he kowtows to the DWP b/c he's afraid of the DWP Union (they spent a ton on mailers when he ran against Essell and he got the message), and he's a Union man (they've supported him in the past and will continue to do so) so he'll never be able to fix the City's pension or budget problems (which will lead to draconian cuts to your services and sky-high taxes/fees/penalties). If you don't have a clue about Paul, you haven't been paying attention. I dare Michael and Joe B to post the truth about their boy.
