Week Long Open Thread

must...read...Mayor...Sam.....

Expect a low posting week from the Mayor Sam blog. We're either buried in work, projects, or relaxing after the elections. There might be a post or two, but otherwise we'll see you next week as we gear up for the 2011 City Council race.

I wonder if the Carpetbagger from Wisconsin will ever allow comments on his blog? Is he a enemy of free speech? A socialist censor? Is he afraid of the people he seeks to represent? Doesn't he want their input? Joe B I hope you will BBQ this
hate spewing scoundrel for his crimes against freedom and America.

Following the elections and the fed meeting the Labor Dept. reported that 151,000 new jobs were created last month, more than double the forecast. Stock prices are at their highest level in 2 years. Yields on Treasury notes are at record lows. Gold prices are at all-time highs. We are in the strongest bull market since World War II.

So I'm really curious what Higby thinks. Does he give Obama any credit for this? Or do we thank George Bush? Or Sarah Palin?

Does he wish this will continue, or does he wish it to worsen so the voters will elect a Republican president who will makes things better after the Republicans helped make things worse so that they could make it better again?

Could there be shenanigans in the Attorney General election?

The Secretary of State's website currently has no data on the results of the election, but the left wing blog "Swing State Project" reports Cooley ahead of Kamala Harris by 62,258, and BarackObama.com sends out a panic email for volunteers to "protect the election."

What say you?

Carmen the Clown's flexing his muscles (for a change) and has axed the City Attorney's Office Neighborhood Prosecutor Program.

The Clown thinks we're stupid and is blaming the budget for the decision to close down one of the few really useful things that his office provides to communities blighted by petty drug dealing, prostitution, graffiti and vandalism. The real reason is his hatred for the Neighborhood Prosecutors, like Tama Galatzan, who developed strong bonds with local communities, councilmembers and the police. He's such a control freak that he had to shut the program down to keep control, even if it means hurting the communities that elected him in 2009.

Nooch the pooch thinks he'll be able to get away with abandoning the community by keeping a skeleton staff around to run the program, but with only a handful of NPPs left, the program will completely disappear and be forgotten. He hopes.

But we don't forget broken promises, and you can be sure that when Paul Krekorian runs for City Attorney in 2013, Tamar Galatzan will be lockstep with Krekorian to blame Trutanich for running the office by his ego, not his pledge to voters.

If anyone is as bored & tired of Phil Jennerjahn's self-serving campaigns, send a note to the City Clerk's office, Tom LaBonge's office, or the City Ethics Commission and let them know that Phil has already declared the he has never lived in CD4, and that they should subpoena his utility bills, just like they did to Richard Alarcon.

The truth is, Phil Jennerjahn is as crooked as Richard Alarcon, but he is not nearly as smart as Alarcon is. At least Alarcon wasn't stupid enough to BLOG about it.

Does anyone think that Alarcon will ever be prosecuted or that the DA will let ride until he is out of office and drop the charge?

"...as we gear up for the 2011 City Council race."

You MUST be joking?

What's to "gear up" for. Seven council races that are already over, for all intents. Five in which the incumbent is basically unchallenged (sorry Box et al., but it's true), one in which the heir apparent has raised enough money to just SKIP over City Council and run for Congress, and one where a "mini-Meg" rich dude plans to spend his kids' inheritance to unseat a popular incumbent, yet who is himself SO unknown in civic circles he'll probably have trouble coming up with enough signatures to even qualify for the ballot in time.

The sad part about this is -- because there is no REAL competition for any of these races, you blogging yahoos will TRY and paint one of these as an exciting pay-per-view fight, just to keep things interesting. Then, it'll end up in a knockout DURING THE WEIGHING-IN ceremony, before anyone even steps in the ring.

Save you breath; hell... don't take the WEEK off, take the next FOUR MONTHS off.

The next election in L.A. that'll mean anything to anyone is when we get to replace the "FAILURE" mayor (and probably end up with someone HE'S endorsing). And, it'll serve us right.

The DA race is proof positive that the liberals are hypocrites to the bone.

Even when they appear to want the full flush of knee-jerks in office running the state, they still want "CONSERVATIVES" protecting them from the "bad boys" that their own philosophy insists aren't "really" bad (just misunderstood and poor, right?). It's society's fault... poverty made them bad, right? We build too many prisons, right?

But y'all still want the hardass GOP sheriff-type standing by the front door with a loaded shotgun, while you hold your "kumbayah" hand-holding pinko rallies.

Who in their right mind -- and not suicidal -- would vote for a squishy San Fran politician to lead statewide LAW enforcement?

“Tardiness is but one symptom of a troubled political leadership.”

Since October 14, 2010 when L.A. Daily News reported, “ Los Angeles City Council's tardiness a sign of disrespect” nothing has changed.

The Los Angeles Council continues to DISRESPECT citizens, who pay their salaries, as councilmembers continue to violate their own Council Rules with NO CONSEQUENCES.

Can one of these council members display leadership and introduce a MOTION to take away council members cars, who are habitual violators of their own rules. How about Former Police Chief and current Councilmember Bernard Parks?

OH YEAH, this will work. . . they're "tardy" -- that'll get them booted out of office.

4 years ago a challenger tried to show that the incumbent in CD14 was GONE from the office some HUGE number of days on junkets, vacation, "business" trips, etc.

That challenger lost, miserably, even those most people probably believed the charge.

Give 'em demerits, then give this up.

What a joke! Half the people who vote couldn't tell you the difference between their Councilmember, County Sup, State Rep, State Senator, or Congressman. They may know the names, but any councilmember out there will be happy to tell you how many times a day some "voter" complains to them that the federal IRS is taking too much of their money, or that their STATE highways are too crowded. . . like they have anything to do with it. And vice-versa, STATE reps hold coffees and get an earfull all the time about potholes and tree trimming.

Higby,

Do you have a fax number? I will send you a copy of the letter that I am going to send to the City Clerk's office.

The letter will address Phil's admission that he never lived outside of CD-5, as well as a direct challenge to his assertion that he is a "political consultant."

I cannot email the document to you because it will show my name as the licensee of the Microsoft software.

I encourage others to do the same.

Did anyone pay attention to the fact that today Wed the Stupid Council will be voting to overrule the community plans? If LaBonge votes to support this I will go all out to get him out of office. It will show which council clowns are completely in the hands of developers. Voting yes means screw the community I am with the developers. Voting no means I support the community I represent and am not in the hands (pockets) of developers.

Are you Joe B?

Kamala D. Harris (Dem) 3,886,014 45.8%

Steve Cooley (Rep) 3,895,569 45.9%

November 10, 2010 4:00 PM

4:00PM The respected and prestigious "What Would Reagan Do?" Blog has already projected that Cooley will win by about 9,000, based on voter trends in the 36 counties that broke for Cooley, 17 that rolled over for Harris, and 5 that were about even.

So obviously the figures are going to sway one way and another over the next few days, as all the uncounted votes are tabulated.

I wouldn't be surprised if Kamala Harris even takes the lead when the rest of the moronic counties that supported her give up their figures. But when the rest of the sensible counties, the ones that supported Cooley overwhelmingly, provide their figures, Cooley will win the election.

Then, and only then, can you people start your "Cooley Stole The Election" mantra, and because we've heard that line before, we know where that will get you.

Cooley wins, get over it.

You should be more concerned that the new House Speaker has already indicated that he will not be using Nancy Pelosi's private 757 to fly home from DC on our dime.

He's using a regular airline. Poor Nancy's going to have to fly Jet Blue, and they don't want her scrawny ass on their leather seats. Rumor has it that they're re-hiring Steve Slater to be flight attendant on any flight Pelosi takes with them. At least Slater knows how to deal with uppity empowered empty-heads.
