Outtakes from CD 14: "Team Rudy continues to expose Councilman Huizar's DWP voting record".

Councilman Jose Huizar continues his stellar record of supporting the agenda of "Political Papi" Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and DWP Special Interests.

COUNCILMEMBER HUIZAR VOTES TO MAKE DWP MANAGER
UNACCOUNTABLE TO RATE PAYERS

LOS ANGELES, CA (November, 27, 2010) – Councilmember Jose Huizar voted to deny Department of Water and Power (DWP) rate payers real accountability over the DWP. In a 7-7 deadlock last Tuesday, Huizar voted against a ballot measure that would have given the City Council the power to fire the DWP’s General Manager and would have also given them the power to remove the Mayor’s appointees to the DWP’s Commission. The measure would have required a two-thirds majority vote to remove the General Manager and DWP Commissioners.

“I was disappointed that the two-thirds provision for the board of commissioners and general manager were rejected at the very last minute. These objections should have been brought up by the department during the six public hearings, including the meeting held by Huizar in Eagle Rock,” said Jack Humphreville, President of the DWP Advocacy Committee.

The city council will have an opportunity to break the 7-7 deadlock and vote on the proposed measure again on December 7. Huizar claims that this is nothing more than an over reaction to recent DWP frustrations, but he deceived rate payers when he failed to speak out on the issue during the public meeting he hosted in Eagle Rock.

“Rate payers are tired of the business as usual attitude in the DWP. As your councilman, I will listen to your concerns and I will fight for ratepayers and demand real reform and accountability at DWP,” said Rudy Martinez, candidate for City Council District 14.

OOps, Snarf. It'd be FUNNY if it wasn't so SAD and perdictable. Red Spurt, Rudy M. apparently failed geography the same way you failed speelunk, (and grammur, and punktatuon).

The link you left for his campaign site lists ALL kinds of CD14 fixtures, like the eighborhood councils, as well as THE MUSEUMS in CD14. including this one:

Autry National Center – 4700 Western Heritage Drive, Los Angeles CA 90027

(from "City of Los Angeles Council District 14" at http://www.rudy2011.org/rudy-martinez/cd14.php)

First off, that's gonna come as a HUGE shock to Tom LaBONG, that he won't be the King of Griffith Park anymore if Rudy M. gets control of CD14. The flipper-'n-chef (not a typo) is apparently going to annex that portion of a non-contiguous council district.

THEN, it's gonna be a HUGE shot in the arm to the infamous SOUTHWEST SOCIETY and your buddies Carol HOCK-us (eat al.), because that MAKES their case, that moving the SWM to GP isn't REALLY moving it out of CD14.

(Although this may just be a trick to get the Mt. Washington Tony V. lapdog posse to switch sides. Let just SEE how it works).

OH, did I also mention he's got Heritage Square listed as being in CD14, as well? PLEASE don't anybody tell Ed P. he's losing that part of Council District 1! It'll just BREAK his heart.

Once again, we start with a TOTAL neophyte who's biggest claim to activism is that his business sent a check to the Eagle Rock Chamber once a year -- someone who 3 months ago DIDN'T even know what district he lived in, and we're expected to just JUMP IN and love 'em to pieces, just cuz' someone like RS hates Huizar's guts, and twice-trounced loser "Tricky Nicky" Pacheco is listed at the TOP of his list of supporters?

Sorry, been there dun' that. I'm tired of voting for "anti's" that end up getting lost driving to City Hall for the first six months, hire out-of-towners as staff... people who think they're coming to work in "EAST L.A." and that they'll be able to get their cars worked on by "Chico and the Man" while at the office, because they SAW that on TV-LAND reruns.

Nope, nope, nope. Never again.

So how come Rudy doesn't list "Scott Johnson/Red Spot, Recoating Securtery of LB32 Neborhood Counsil" among his list of supporters?

Ashamed?? (I think so.)

Or maybe he's just too young. It appears a large portion of those signed up as Candidate Rudy's early supporters (or maybe "early bird" supporters?) live in assisted senior living facilities around the district.

Are Rudy's people trawling the old folkkes homes in CD14 with petition forms to try and catch the senile while their Aricept is on it's last legs? I hear that is one of the best ways to locate what's left of the Republicans on the eastside (average age = older than Leslie Neilsen).

But tell me, did someone really name a old folks poor-house in Eagle Rock after the corrupt and not-maligned-enough Art Snyder... he of the record-setting ethics violations fame?

Wow, not that takes Chuutspaw.

No it's not named after Art SNYDER, the controversial former councilman for Dist. 14 (aren't that all). According to the list, they live in Art SYNDER Villa in ER (either that is someone else with a similar name, or else Scott Johnson filled out the paperwork for them when he wasn't posting missppellings here).

Okay, so the Huizar haters are now gonna pile on here and say this is all Rudy-bashing, but before that you got to admit - this is funny.

One of the big, stinky "cultural" issues in the district for the past half decade was about the "theft" of the Southwest Museum collection by Autry to fill up their empty museum barns on Labonge's district, and now the "top" challenger for the CD14 position thinks it never left.

Laugh, a bit, before you bash back.

This is hilarious. Kind of makes you wonder if the new challenger's staff has sat him down and even filled him in yet on what the district's hot-button issues really are? Or, is that being saved for the night before the first big debate?

Does he even know yet what "D-W-P" stands for in these press releases going back-and-forth?

As a restauranteur, does he maybe think it stands for "Don't-Want-Pasta" (as a side dish).

Or maybe as a house re-inventor, it's for "dinettes, wainscotting, and patios".

To all the Mr. Martinez haters just ask your man to answer these questions that Huizar's constituents are now asking and sending emails.
Why did Huizar VCOTE YES to reopen more pot shops knowing that his CD14 has more gangs then any other area?
Why did Huizar VOTE NO to place a ballot measure giving city council more power to FIRE the DWP manager?
Why did Huizar VOTE NO to give city council power for FIRE the Mayor's corrupt DWP commissioners?
Why hasn't Huizar done anything about the huge issue of illegal vending in CD14 for years? Other then downtown LA, MacArthur Park no other city council person tolerates illegal vending like Huizar.
Why did Huizar LIE about the trash fee hike saying it was for more cops knowing it was going straight into the general fund?
Why did Huizar LIE and tell constituents lies about Measure B the solar ballot measure when it would cost the city millions?
Why did Huizar, Garcetti, Reyes sit on their asses for 4 yrs and allow over 1,000 pot shops to open?
Why did the LA Weekly name Huizar the laziest city council member?

Hmmm, 10 comments, 9 are anti-Martinez (or anti Martinez's Website?), and one is Anti-Huizar (basically restating the same short-term single-vote, single-issue as the thread).

Maybe in L.A. rich guys CAN'T buy enough votes to win a City Council seat?

If the only support he's able to muster are the same 1-in-4 voters that fell in behind Pacheco (twice) and then Parra, only to go down in flames the last 3 CM elections, then it's already GAME OVER and Rudy Martinez has just wasted the profits from flipping a small block's worth of old houses on guaranteeing another term for Jose Huizar.

I'd bet $150,000 on it (if I had it), and apparently Rudy doesn't anymore.

Its a whole new ball game this time round. Huizar lacks a record and that's his problem. He has nothing to speak of which is going to hurt him. The constituents are about as fed up as Bell and Huizar will get a horrible rude awakening that won't be pretty. CD14 is the sleeping giant that is ready to rise and get noticed citywide. Better watch out.

"sleeping," yes, that's the only correct statement in your post.

If Rudy Rich thinks his personal $150,000 is going to WAKE UP CD14, he's got a disturbing wakeup call coming himself, BIG time.

(btw, that's about 50 cents per constituent). Or, if you want to look at it a different way, about $1.50 per district household - stretched out over 3 months time.

Good luck with that math!

OR, he can concentrate his $$ bux on the "likely voters" (which is most likely what Hacopian told him in this morning's meeting, while he was pocketing one-third of that himself, for a few months work).

But first, ask Pacheco how that "likely voters" strategy worked out for him last time.

"If we can just make them GOOD AND MAD, then the vote for someone else, right?"

Wrong, the more mud slung, the more people realize it doesn't really matter which model-year clown sits in the seat, their lives will hardly change.

That's not apathy, that's just conserving energy -- when you realize the only thing that changes is the name on the ego-centric big blue signs on the street outside -- year after year, on and on.

(Let me know when Rudy's "position" materializes on anything specific about CD14 beyond 'I'll be available and transparent' --what they ALL say, during the CAMPAIGN!)

YAWN!

It appears some of his positions on being clear and transparent are coming to light. About as clear as cigarette smoke.

Yeah, uh huh, buh-bye, Rudy Rich. It's all over but the taking out the ashes, now.

Thanks for playing. Now the incumbent can stop "pretending" he's in an "election" and get back to earning his exorbitant salary, and we won't have every goodwill seasonal event turned into a political STAGING.

As a consolation prize for sending in your nomination petition FIRST, RR, you can also be the first challenger of the March election to be YANKED out of contention before 2011 even starts, before the first debate, and before the holidays.

That head-spinning feeling is NOT from the second-hand smoke, by the way.

Take some meatpies home with you, from the deli table... they're "crow" from an ancient L.A. politics recipe.

Okay, buh-bye! You're "done" now. The good news is your cash infusion to your 2-week-long campaign was a "loan" -- so you can use it to speculate ALL over L.A., to your heart's contempt.

3:59pm - You may have noticed on Thanksgiving, Rudy Martinez had a disgusting, tasteless photo op made while serving meals to the homeless on Skid Row. Beyond the question (for which the answer is NO) about whether Martinez has ever, EVER shown his face in Skid Row before NOW, when looking like a caring soul who gives a damn about the little people is important for campaign photos, it's notable for anyone who's keeping track, MIDNIGHT MISSION IS NOT EVEN IN CD14.

Martinez decides to go have his "good guy helping the poor" shot made on Thanksgiving in Skid Row and doesn't even choose a service provider that's actually IN the district he's running for?

There are LOTS of shelters and service providers located in CD14. Midnight Mission does great work but so do so many others. And to choose one that's not even in the district he's running for shows ignorance of the district on top of the pandering and photo-op driven "good deed" he's trying to document for his campaign mailers while using the least fortunate among us as the pawns.

And the fact they they clearly don't know CD14 at all is made even worse since Martinez's campaign communications guy is George Gonzalez who used to work for CD14! Shouldn't he know where the district boundaries are since he used to work there? No wonder Huizar let him go. Nice "pickup" Martinez. You're like the idiot / reject rebound room.

Ick. Ick. ick. Ick. No thanks, Mr, Martinez. I've had enough of you already.
