José Huizar supports ballot measure, which will bring better oversight to the Department of Water & Power
LOS ANGELES (Nov. 19, 2010) — As the City Council ended its debate on what provisions to include in a March 2011 ballot measure on oversight for the Department of Water and Power, the final product looked a lot like what Councilmember José Huizar first offered up as a solution two-and-a-half years ago. (How come no one backed your "symbolic efforts" then?).
The City Council voted Wednesday to create an Office of Public Accountability “to provide public independent analysis of department actions, as they relate to water and electricity rates.” (Not the same as Ratepayer Advocate, IBEW's Brian D'Arcy would be proud as the Rudy Martinez Campaign points out).
In July 2008, Councilmember was the first Councilmember to call for an oversight position at DWP. His legislation came after concerns over several rate hikes by the DWP following 15 years without any price increases and asked to establish a fully independent ombudsperson position “to provide independent and neutral analysis on future proposals for rate increases and rate restructurings.” (But you did vote to raise rates, correct?).
In 2008, neither the DWP nor the City Council was ready to engage in a conversation about creating such a position. This summer, following a contentious battle over rate increases and allegations the DWP withheld delivering $73.5 million to the City’s General Fund, the tide turned and several other councilmembers called for such a position. (Empty rhetoric in form of "Coca Puffs").
“While I had hoped we would have gotten here a lot sooner, I am pleased that the voters will now have the opportunity to create an oversight position for the DWP that in the end will benefit everyone involved, most importantly the ratepayers,” said Councilmember José Huizar. “This new office will help the DWP, City leaders and the public engage in informed conversations about rate adjustments and long-range energy projections in a timely, thoughtful and deliberative manner.” ( Did you take the lead in calling for reinserting the language that gutted the Ratepayer Advocate powers? I think not).
Since 12 votes were not secured, the City Council will need to vote once more next week on the Office of Public Accountability, along with another measure to give the Council the power to fire the DWP General Manager as well as remove members of the DWP Commission via a vote. (Meanwhile Council President Garcetti flip-flopped and reinserted the language that you voted to gut. Great show of leadership Huizzy!!).
Your thoughts..............

WTF? Huizar is deflecting from the "real" issue and that is he VOTED AGAINST placing on the ballot a measure that would allow the City Council to FIRE the Mayor's appointed Corrupt Commissioners. Huizar is not rep'ing the people voting against that. Now, it will again be taken up on Dec. 7th. Email Sleazy Huizy and tell him to VOTE to place the ballot measure so the PEOPLE CAN DECIDE NOT HIM. Huizar just proved he's still a lapdog to Mayor.
LA Slimes..Council responded to the rate hike fight by proposing a ballot measure that would give members the power to remove DWP commissioners and the utility's top executive by a two-thirds vote. Although that plan received eight votes last week, Councilman Richard Alarcon said he and his colleagues have been lobbied by the mayor to abandon it. That change of direction irritated backers of the plan, who said the council would embarrass itself by capitulating to political pressure. "If we vote this down today, we look like a bunch of politicians," said Councilman Tony Cardenas.Alarcon disagreed, saying the council has found plenty of other ways to embarrass itself.
Supporters of the ballot plan were Cardenas and council members Paul Koretz, Paul Krekorian, Tom LaBonge, Bernard C. Parks, Jan Perry and Bill Rosendahl. OPPOSING it were Alarcon, HUIZAR, Janice Hahn, Ed Reyes, Herb Wesson, Dennis Zine and council President Eric Garcetti.

How long after the holiday will the adults starting posting threads here again, and give Lil' Scottie J. a much-needed bathroom break?
He's obviously very constipated.
When the best you can come up with is deconstructing someone else's obvious spin by saying six different ways "not true" and "he's LYING" then you're pretty hard up for material.

Phil is crying this morning because he was hoodwinked by the Los Feliz Ledger.
Like a dope, Phil showed up to the interview in a suit. Of course, that also makes you wonder why Phil has time, in the MIDDLE OF THE WEEK, to go for a do-nothing newspaper interview.
If Phil is, as he claims, a political consultant, he shouldn't be able to break away IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WEEK, for an interview.
What a child, to run for three different offices in a single year. A true moron and an asshole, Phil couldn't get a single signature after two hours. So he quit. AFTER TWO HOURS!
Sum tough politician!

Why is Phil Jennerjahn bagging on the poor little Los Feliz Ledger?
He is an ingrate because he didn't like their sound reporting on him. It took this "look in the mirror" for Phil to see that people loathe him.

City Council on Wednesday approved an amendment allowing up to 140 pot dispensaries to stay open and gave dispensary operators a six-month extension to comply with city regulations. An ordinance passed earlier this year would have shut down roughly 400 dispensaries.
GUESS WHO VOTED FOR THIS? HUIZAR KNOWING THERE HAVE BEEN MANY ROBBERIES AND HOMICIDES WITH THESE POT SHOPS.

I think Phil is as much of a fool as anyone, but Cliff Pileggi sounds like a fine upstanding young gentleman. Let's hear what he has to say.

I have no personal opinion on, or animous toward, Phil Jennerjahn.
But one must wonder how he still thinks he has an opportunity to get finish anywhere other than the basement when the people who are most frequently involved with him see him as the Town Idiot.
Or, for that matter, why Phil thinks that based on his track record, he will ever fare better, let alone win? Isn't two last place finishes, and one quitting without any signatures, enough embarrassment?

"Phil Jennerjahn is a slacking underachieving misanthrope, quitter, cheater and THIEF."
hmmm, sounds to me like he may be OVERqualified to be a local L.A. politician, based on that.
It really isn't necessary to be both a "cheater" and a "thief" -- one of those is usually enough.

CLASSIC Scott Johnson trying to be anonymous--complete with singular/plural mixups and misfired commas. Scott, you have a lot of nerve referring to ANYONE as "Town Idiot". At least Phil can write complete sentences! Pick on someone your own size, you over-fed illiterate, and fix the title of this post. (if you can't figure out what's wrong with it, walk outside and ask a third grader. I'm not telling.)

Is this the man you want running your District?
....Councilman Jose Huizar provided a glimpse into that disarray last week, as he explained his opposition to a proposed ballot measure that would let the council fire the top executive at the Department of Water and Power."I previously voted no on this item and today I voted yes earlier," Huizar told his colleagues. "But now that it's up for reconsideration," he added, "I'm going to be consistent and vote no."

IS THIS THE MAN YOU WANT REPRESENTING YOU??? HE HAS NO ETHICS OR MORALS OR CONSCIENCE
......Confusion was on hand two weeks ago, as council members sorted through 13 ballot proposals in a 48-hour period. During those deliberations, several council members attempted to defeat a plan by HUIZAR TO PROVIDE MORE TAXPAYER MONEY FOR POLITICAL CANDIDATES.
NO TAX PAYER MONEY FOR CANDIDATES. THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS AND SHOWS HUIZAR LACK OF ETHICS
