The Billionaire Democracy

She's done it!

Meg Whitman has spent more of her own money on her campaign than any candidate for political office in US history! Her personal contribution to buy the governorship of California has reached a staggering $119 million and counting.

This is either one hell of a vanity project, and/or sadly, California may be about to be sold to the highest bidder.

Show me the money, honey! She's got it, Jerry don't. Let the lady buy herself a nice view in Sacramento! Let's roll back the regulations, screw the environment,
and have a big ole corporate shark frenzy rape of California!

Unfortunately Meg will end up being another Schwarznegger. She'll tell us whatever we want to hear, and then do something completely different. Too bad. A good outsider could have won this year, but I think once the voting public plugs into the fact that she's spent over $120 million dollars and hasn't voted in 30 years, they will figure out this phony for what she is.

Given the woeful, and I really mean woeful, choices that voters have had over the last 30 years, I don't blame Meg for exercising her right NOT to vote for anyone she does not like.

As for Meg being another Schwarzenegger, no, I don't think she's a phony democrat in disguise who just wants to be popular. Meg is someone who will know when to play her cards, unlike Schwarzenegger who screwed up when he took on the nurses and teachers and had nobody behind him.

Meg, please spend another $120M to make sure CA doesn't fall back 30 years into the grip of Jerry Brown and his f'd up notion of a perfect world.

I despise Whitman because of her lack of character and her support of abortion.
However, she is free to spend her own money as she sees fit.
Voters are free to reject her if they so choose.

Someone please call the waahmbulance for Joe B.

He's going to need therapy when his chosen Socialist gets the beatdown in November.

Jerry Brown is a 40-year career politician.

If he were ever to have had a legitimate job in his life, we'd know if he is successful.

Whitman EARNED a billion dollars by creating an INDUSTRY that created tens of thousands of JOBS.

The only jobs Jerry Brown ever created was GOVERNMENT jobs.

Joe,

Perhaps you can explain why the Dems are suddenly attempting to rebrand themselves ahead of the election?

Hmmm?

http://s3.amazonaws.com/apache.3cdn.net/8bfc8ae84515eeb561_lgm6bnb5r.jpg

I come from the corporate world, and can tell you that the ONLY reason for an entity to rebrand is when there is a problem, or stagnation, with the old brand.

Suddenly, the Dems went from Hope & Change to "Change that Matters."

That's because the FIRST brand, "Hope and Change" simply didn't work.

Ha ha ha
LOL
Good one!

Joe... I have mostly behaved myself on the MayorSam blog, but you're going to push me over, aren't you?

You still have not told me if Obama, having spend $800M, bought the presidency.

You still haven't told me if it's ok for a candidate to get 80% of their campaign funding from special interest groups and win.

I believe, not 100% sure- feel free to correct me on this, 70% of Brown's campaign dollars have come from special interest groups. With unions having agreed to spend and additional $50M on ads for him.

Isn't that buying an office too?

You can't have it both ways.

Simply, If Whitman spends HER own money, and you call that buying a campaign, isn't the same if a candidate uses special interest money?

Also, I could go out there and spend millions of my own money too on advertising... I'm not BUYING votes. You don't win with just ads... you need votes.
Is Whitman handing bags of cash to voters?

And if you want Brown to win, look at my comment on the previous post. That's how Brown can win, not by you attacking Whitman for being financially successful and free of special interest.

I'm sorry for breaking the news to you, Joe B., but Meg having all this "spare" cash means one thing in particular:

SHE IS A SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS PERSON, TO SUCH A DEGREE THAT SHE CAN SPARE $119 MILLION AND THEN-SOME.

The problem with government is that it isn't run like an EFFICIENT business. Few know how to innovate and run an EFFICIENT business better than Meg Whitman.

I realize that your Socialistic sensibilities can't comprehend this, but efficiency and innovation is what gave America such a great start in its early life. Efficiency and innovation built up this country to the point where people like you can subsist on whatever income you make for your family, and the freedom to resent success in others.

What has Jerry Brown ever done in the private sector? Anything? He has milked every public sector job for more than four decades.

If that's the best you've got, you should go back to the drawing board. Meg, as wrong as she is on the immigration issue, will be YOUR and my next governor.

I am sure you will wish her well, the way you wanted everyone to wish O'Bama well when he came in, right?

Say what you want about Meg Whitman, Joe, but Jerry Brown endorsed Barack Hossein Obama.

Obama is more divisive than any president in history.

If Brown thought Obama was the man to run the country, then his judgement is sorely in question.

I know you won't post this, since you can't handle dissent, but at least you know where one reader stands.

Sorry to disappoint you, but I think you're not going to get Brown as Governor.

It's unfortunate that Jerry Brown is using the Bell salary scandal in order to try and advance his flailing campaign.

As Attorney General for the state, he should go about his job, and prosecute the wrongdoers, and not use it as an opportunity to grandstand.

Brown doesn't know that doing his job well is the best advertisement for advancement. He should take Steve Cooley's lead on this.

Hey Phil,

Why don't you know - as a regular candidate for office - that abortion rights are a FEDERAL issue?

Don't you know that the right for a woman to choose comes from The Supreme Court of the United States?

What does it have to do with a gubernatorial candidate?

Oh, I forgot, you're the guy who claims to hate freedom killers, but you don't apply the rule to yourself when it comes to WOMEN's freedom.

Good luck trying to get out of last place in your next campaign by telling Angelenos that they don't have a right to choose.

Freedom hater! In fact, I'm going to pork my girlfriend without a rubber today and then abort the fetus.

We'll call the fetus Phil. And then flush him down the toilet. Fuck you Phil, you freedom hater.

Abortions need to be safe, and therefore, legal.

When you have dangerous, failed abortions, the baby is likely to:

1. Finish in last place in City Council or Congressional campaigns.

2. Fall on Day 1 of initiatives like trying to recall, for instance, a mayor.

3. Be unable to complete a single year of graduate school.

4. Fritter away $10,000 on a gambling expedition when he doesn't have the common sense to use the money for a necessity like a car.

5. Annoy people on blogs.

6. Deny people their freedom to choose safe & legal abortion.

7. Make a fool of itself by wearing a cowboy hat or daddy's suit.

8. Stand at a podium in city hall and demand the immediate resignation of duly elected officials, and to generate nothing other than crickets chirping.

Truly, unsafe abortion allows a fool to be a fool on a daily basis.

Oh don't turn this into another Phil bashing post - tempting as it is, and he doesn't even make it hard, there's always plenty of material where Phil is concerned.

But Joe B. and the democrats are in deep trouble and they know it. The country is "as mad as hell" now that Obama is proving to be "more of the same" and spectacularly worse than the Peanut Farmer in terms of not having anything but platitudes to offer us in the midst of economic and military issues that her said he would solve.

The woman Gwen Ifill calls "The Female Barack Obama," democrap AG candidate Kamala Harris, is being called a hypocrite by the LA Slimes, because of her failed 'Hope and Change' bullshit. Wait for it, Harris the Hypocrite also has a "Hope and Change" book out, lauding her accomplishments as a DA - quite an accomplishment; having the lowest felony conviction rate of any major city. No, that's not lowest crime rate, that's what happens when you are so inept that you cannot put bad guys in prison.

Dems are losing it, and when they put up "Hope and Change" candidates, guess what, they've lost it. Americans may be stupid, but not that stupid. Except for Phil.
