Los Angeles Politics Hotsheet for Friday

Nearly 70 cows were injured or killed when a cattle truck overturned on the 10 Freeway in Redlands Thursday afternoon. The LA Times reports the truck, which was carrying over 150 heads of cattle, overturned about 2:30 p.m. near the University Street exit. No cows got loose and no humans were injured in the wreck.

If you want to know if the City is going to close your favorite medical marijuana dispensary in June the LA Times has a map for you to check out. Nearly 450 pot shops will close under a new City law.

Billboards not jobs are apparently the main issue in Los Angeles. Handwringing over grandfathered supergraphics permitted on LA Live and the Ritz-Marriott Hotel downtown at CurbedLA. However, check out some nifty pro-AEG spin from a bloggin' commenter.

Always classy Ugly Betty Pleasant gets a woody over Bernard Parks again. Parks was late to the DWP vote and Betty thinks that would have made a difference. However let her lover boy Mark Ridley Thomas spend like a drunken sailor and Betty is silent.

This Saturday is Fire Service Recognition Day. Many local fire stations in Los Angeles are holding open houses. Click here for more info and show up to thank our first responders.

It's too bad that an ASSHOLE who wants to recall a DICKHEAD isn't letting us know SHIT about how many DOPEY volunteers he has to try to gather 240,000 VALID signatures.

By my count, that ASSHOLE, whose name is PHIL JENNERJAHN, needs to have 36,000 VALID ones by end of day today, and 40,000 VALID ones by MONDAY MORNING.

In the meanwhile MR. I'M FOCUSING ON THE RECALL AND DON'T CRITICIZE MY "METHODS" IS BLOGGINB ABOUT VDLADIMIR PUTIN???????????????

Thanks, Mayor Sam, for allowing people to EXPOSE FRAUD BOY PHIL JENNERJAHN every day until he comes clean, quits, or the deadline and Congressional race passes. Then we get to beat him up for a few months until he cries. And make no mistake, he WILL cry.

Excellent news out of Arizona!

Arizona is ending a groundbreaking and contentious program that put speed cameras along Phoenix-area freeways and in vans deployed across the state.

Opponents have argued the cameras open the door for wider "Big Brother" surveillance and are more about making money than safety. The program has been the target of an initiative measure proposed for the November ballot.

Even Gov. Jan Brewer has said she doesn't like the cameras, and her intention to end the program was first disclosed in her January budget proposal. That was followed by a non-renewal letter sent by the Arizona Department of Public Safety this week to the private company that runs the program.

Scottsdale-based Redflex said Thursday that the 36 fixed cameras will be turned off and the 40 vans taken off highways on July 16, the day after its state contract expires.

Mayor Sam,

Thanks for recognizing the importance of continuing to expose the Jennerjahn Fraud, and the Jennerjahn Goofiness, as long as they are "in play."

Too bad that "anonymous" can't deal. Maybe they'd prefer a Red Snot bottlecap of your always-good morning Hot Sheets. Speaking of that, please direct Scott-the-Stalker to not post until 4pm. He can have the evening, but he shouldn't ruin the day time with cd14 & huizar/reyes stupidity. Talk about repetitive!

It's ONLY a "slow news day," Higby, because you are SO out-of-touch with the city you live in.

There's a reality in play, when news is slow, that most people can't grasp.

It means that, for once, more GOOD is being done, than BAD -- but the media ONLY reports BAD!

It's HARDLY slow news day!

In addition to Phil being a moron, which is amusing if not newsworthy, the Times isn't endorsing Boxer.
