Breaking News: Doug McIntyre Live in LA Now!
Doug McIntyre's Red Eye Radio show, which had been airing tape delayed here in Los Angeles on KABC Radio will now air live from 10pm to 3am nightly.

I love Doug's show, but if this constitutes "breaking news," I'm an old Chinese lady.

Great news! Thanks for breaking it. Kevin James could have a battle on his hands. Only question is how long will it be before he's back in LA for the morning show? I hear that Tilden's show is VERY expensive...

No matter what anyone does, Bill Handel is king of the morning shows, and has been for many years. Bill is going to have that gig until he decides he wants to retire.

Have you heard Doug's Red Eye Radio show? It's a national radio show with open phones and no topics. Don't expect the same kind of local political show you are used to from mornings.
10:30am, it's not national in the sense that it's in 200 markets. Doug is in less than 20 markets. When people exaggerate about things they don't need to exaggerate about, all credibility is lost. It's a good show. It's not great. It'll be great when it's on in the morning drive slot, the only time in radio that matters.
McIntyre's RedEye Radio was good before and was totally local. The show now is still local on topics but there's a lot that you find common to all people in big cities.
The show is national when you consider there is no need to have to be syndicated to be heard now that the internet has (1.) radio shows streaming live, and, (2.) you can hear internet radio on smart phones with the new apps, so you have mobility as with transistor radios.
That makes for a wider based audience, and in the evening, there's a more mellow, slower pace that you can take to have a good time. It doesn't always have to be controversial and bitchy to be enjoyable.
And in this economy, just keeping a radio gig is "good," at least for the air personality. There's been lots of household names cut, especially over the last few years, so live and local is less prominent than before, when it was the regular way to go.
One thing about Handel, he's got the easiest podcasts to hear- good for the often zany 5am hour, "batched in HOURly segments -commercials," on iTunes, mp3 or "listen now," posted right away. Kevin's are tough to find and short, and KABC still is slow to post.
