2010 Predictions

Janice Hahn will crush Dean Florez in the Democratic primary for Lt Governor and be poised to take on Republican nominee Abel Maldonado. However remarks made by Hahn during a primary debate with Florez will be taken as anti-Latino and tarnish her image with Hispanics who will flock to Maldonado providing him a margin of victory in a Latino year.

An elected Los Angeles official will be arrested by the LAPD, inside City Hall, caught in the act of a significant felony offense causing a political firestorm throughout the City.

Day to day management of the Los Angeles Convention Center will be taken over by a private company who will eventually make a buyout offer for the facility that the near bankrupt City can not refuse. A similar effort however by The Walt Disney Company to take over the LA Zoo will fail, however Councilman Tom LaBonge will face a stunning political loss when the City Council votes 14-1 to direct staff to find a lessee for the Zoo.

The bloggers behind the Griffith Park Wayist blog will put together an activist network rivaling that of the Saving Los Angeles Project. The group will quickly catch on with a membership base more diverse in age and race than SLAP and move forward in recruiting bicycle activist Stephen Box to run against Councilman Tom LaBonge in the 2011 race.

Former Mayoral candidate Phil Jennerjahn will earn the GOP nomination for the 33rd Congressional District but lose to current Rep. Dianne Watson by the lowest margin ever for a Republican challenger in that significanlty Democratic district.

Blogger Zach Behrens will be hired as an analyst for FoxNews Network and become the "house liberal" for their late night talk show "Red Eye."

Mayor Villaraigosa will team up with celebrity Chef Bobby Flay on an episode of the Food Network's "Iron Chef America" going up against a team of Wolfgang Puck and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

LA District Attorney Steve Cooley will easily garner the Republican nomination for State Attorney General and crush San Francisco DA Kamala Harris in the General Election.

The Los Angeles Dodgers will win the World Series in game five against the Oakland As.

Republicans will gain 7 seats in the US Senate and 35 in the House but not come close enough to recapture control. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid will however fail to garner re-election in his home state of Nevada.

The next big thing in the tech world that will be used by political candidates is a site that combines elements of text messaging and a calendar with social networking. The site will allow many grass roots candidates to quickly assemble groups of supporters to drive voters to the polls.

And finally more than half these predictions will not come true.

Mayor Sam,

How come in your 2009 predictions you DID NOT KNOW that a Senator cannot appoint her own replacement???

Ever hear of Rod Blagojevich of Illinois? Blago, the former Governor, appointed O'Bama's replacement. O'Bama didn't do it.

I guess running a political blog makes you wise with tech things, but clearly not well informed on political things.

Dumbass.

And thanks for wasting valuable morning reading time with predictions that were designed to deceive. Starting the year with deception is not a good indicator of where your spirit is.

A City Council Member perp-walked out of City Hall?

Please... I'm hoping it will be more than one!

Higby, I appreciate the support, and I DO realize what I'm up against. Thousands of personal home visits to explain to voters why Democratic leadership is destroying LA.

I also plan to go to City Hall and ask all the Council Members to renounce Socialism.

Tune in. It should be good entertainment.

"Former Mayoral candidate Phil Jennerjahn will earn the GOP nomination . . ."

Martians will take over the Mayor Sam's Blog and the only difference any of the readers will notice is that the new owners will be MORE in touch with the realities of L.A. life than before.

OH, and more of the their 2011 predictions will actually come true.

(Phil J. will never again "grace" a ballot unless he runs for the board of his HOA. He has way too much idiocy and damning nonsense posted here, on the record, for anyone to take him even slightly seriously.)

Janice Hahn will lose to Maldonado, who will have had six months in the job already by the time he runs. As a fiscally conservative Republican, he'll claim to be the fiscal watchdog while Janice Hahn hasn't seen a tax she doesn't want to raise or create. Like how she's been hot on raising our property taxes again for a NEW gang program she wants to have under her personal control, despite the questions about the one's she's overseeing.

Her "dream team" of Shallman the Slimemaster - perfect for Hahn, a grandstanding backstabber - and Gary South will be so shaken they'll offer to handle Phil Jennerdoodle's campaign pro bono.

Steve Cooley will NOT crush anyone because his years of crushing the innocent, those who don't have the money or "juice" for him to spring or refuse to prosecute -- like the USC jocks his puppet Trutanich got his rep for "winning" on with this influence peddling -- will FINALLY come back to haunt him.

Paul Lisker, Deborah Peagler, two poor people he and minions like Livesay kept in jail decades longer than they should have to hide prosecutiorial midconduct and mistakes, and even the money he's wasting on Old Perv Polanski while real rapists who are a danger on our streets NOW are uncaught because he and his buddy Drama Queen Baca refuse to spend money testing the DNA kits, claiming poverty. Preferring to use it for high-profile cases that serve their political purposes. Other documented cases which the Times helped him hide will come out - Jim Newton and Rob Greene won't be able to crush his opponents for him this time.

The way he's abusing our City ATtorney's office by getting his arrest-mad puppet Trutanich to use Wendy Greuel to "get Rocky" on the worker's comp old stuff while having proved a liar and demagogue in his promises to help the Controller audit all records, will be used against him to expose more of their shenanigans.

The Assistant DA's who are suing Cooley for harassment, institutionalized persecution of those who don't go along with his self-serving selective prosecutions, they claim, and his aggressive union-busting will finally do what his last opponents couldn't because of being derided by the Times. They'll have justice.

Despite Cooley benefiting from an ineptly managed Democratic Party which unlike the Republicans eats its own and doesn't unite, despite his opponents being Rocky and Kamala Harris who they'll paint as an illegal gangbanger-loving San Francisco liberal, despite Novey the political advisor for the PPL and the Sheriff's Deputies (recently fired in same capacity for the state prison guard's union, which wised up), who pushed them so hard for Essel, he'll finally be seen as the Crook of California thanks to money and powerful unity from the medical marijuana community and Hollywood, which will finally wake up to what dangerous clowns he and Carmen are.

Democracy and sanity will make a comeback start in California. Cooley and Clown Carmen will go back to where they came from, Carmen to his house in Belmont Shores Long Beach, back to selling out for rich crooks and criminals. But he will leave a legacy in L A politics: when you lie and make promises you don't mean, then attack and even threaten to arrest and sue those victims who call you on it, it will be called "Doing A Nooch" or, just plain "Nooching."

How about the most "obvious" prediction of all . . . with Newsom out of the race, and Jerry Brown still something of a joke to many Californians from his days as "Gov. Moonbeam," Villaraigosa (now about as useful to L.A. as tailfins on a Prius), will change his mind as always and jump back into the race to replace the Governator.

You can bet your bippy his "consultants" are saying they can make a caricature out of Brown, and hang him with his decades-old weirdness in time for AV to show well in primaries.

It will be 1994 redux and the Republican wave will sweep meg Whitman into office, along with Steve Cooley and Abel Maldonado.

Boxer will lose her Senate seat, probably to Carly Fiorino, although Chuck Devore wold be a much better US Senator.

People (read this as "voters") have had enough of Obamacare, Dingy Harry Reid and Pelagra Pelosi; they may all go down, although Pelosi may be able to keep her seat due to the demographics of her San Francisco voters.

Obama is going to have a Republican Congress to deal with as long as he is President; it is the only ay to keep his Socialist/Communist ass in check.

Higby, you are wrong about that. The responsiblity would fall to the Lt. Gov in office at that time. It's a little something called conflict of interest, idiot.
And Feinstein won't win, either.

I guess you know even less about government than appears.

My prediction is that Jack Weiis, aka 11:51am, will land a deal with CNN as co-host of a political commentary show to rival and replace the former Fox Hannity and Colmes show.

Weiss;s co-host will be British cockney right-wing nutjob David Berger. The show will be produced by Ace Smith with direction from John Shallman.

The working title for the show was rumored to be "Money Talks, Bullshit Walks," however talks with AEG's Tim LIEweke to release his claim to the title have stalled over money issues.

It’s too early to predict, remember the City Attorney and CD 2race, but only time will tell, who the actual winners will be after the elections.

The voters are becoming well informed on the issues before casting their vote, and NO longer are fooled by the twenty second media sound bites or colorful campaign fliers.

The best prediction is to wait until after the elections for the results.
