You're right. I remember being at a meeting when he first ran where he specifically promised that.

It's all BS. Anyone with a brain knows that it's too late to run. But who knows, the current crop are so week, that there is definitely room for a viable candidate.

This helps explain why he's using his puppet Trutanich to allow Wendy Greuel to audit ONLY Rocky's old worker comp files, and to go back on his word to Chick and throw her and Woocher under the bus when it comes to the broader rights to audit.

They WANT to "find" anything on Rocky that Cooley can use against him politically. It's long been assumed within the DA's office that he planned this all along and wants Trutanich to run for his job.

This ambition has been surmised from other things too, like his obsession with chasing down Roman Polanski at huge cost and manpower when he's ignoring rape kit backlogs in his office and the Sheriff's office which would help get rapists and other criminals off the streets who ARE dangers now.

Each of those kits would cost a mere $1000 - HOW MUCH has Polanski, an old perv who's been no danger to anyone recently and in plain sight, cost us? How many really dangerous criminals could have been pursued in that time?

The war he and Trutanich are waging on medical marijuana and against the councilmembers and activists who dare stand in the way of their easy "victory" shows how out of touch they are with the voters of this state and public opinion.

They and their pit bull Jane Usher even falsely claimed that Jerry Brown the current AG agreed with them in an attempt to bend them to the Cooley-Trutanich will, when in fact, she quoted from a rightwing radio announcer's false summary of Brown's statement that most shops were probably illegal and a nuisance, what no one on the city council disputed. Bill Carter continuing to insist that Laura Chick's lawyer Woocher always meant to work for free/pro bono is another case of trying to score a political "win" cost what it may, as the case drags on. (And keeps the focus only on Cooley's rival, Rocky. Of course Rocky is a poor lawyer and was a poor official but using both the DA's office AND our city attorney's office this way seems inappropriate at the least.)

The Assistant DA's who are suing him for his union-busting their efforts to organize, alleging persecution and retaliation against them, will probably finally be listened to. His opponents in recent elections who claim drastic persecution to silence them, because they claim he only chooses cases he can win and drops those where companies are friends or good donors, paved the way for them but proved that one Asst DA alone or even two or three are squashed.

The idea of this man wielding even more power and then arrest-happy, loose cannon puppet Trutanich as DA, is truly terrifying to all freedom-loving Californians.

I don't want to give you a lecture on Journalism 101, since I'm IN field, but if someone is CONSIDERING doing something, it's not "breaking news."

Breaking news is when something HAPPENS.

If I'm taking a shit, that's breaking news. But if I'm just thinking about taking a shit, it's not breaking news.

more like 'breaking wind' than breaking news. cause if you are just thinking about taking a shit, then theres probably some wind breakage happening too.
I mean, isn't it the wind that signals that news.
just like on this blog. a little wind, then a load of crap... lmao

Evidentally Cooley thinks Rocktard is getting too close to bieng AG and knows that if he gets in he will wipe Rocktard's butt with all the crap that we already know, plus a lot more that he knows that we don't.

If I am Rocktard and Cooley gets in, I get out to spare my wife and family the utter embarassment of hearing it all over again plus more bad stuff.

This is not good news for Rocktard.

I'm not a complete idiot but I'm still not voting for Cooley. So if it has to be Delgadillo or Cooley, I guess Rocktard gets my vote.

The real truth is, I would never ink a spot for Delgadillo. I'll be voting for Kamala Harris.

Of course Steve Cooley will run for AG, and of course there will be no shortage of attacks on Delgadillo.

Delgadillo, like Jack Weiss, is not only wholly unsuited for the job, but just like Weiss, has a ton of shameful conduct in his past, and now that Trutanich has the ability to expose all of Delgadillo's dirty dealings, the hit pieces on Rocky will be unending.

The first hit piece actually came out last month when LA Superior Court Judge Terry Green overturned the Weiss/Delgadillo secret billboard deal that gave away 900 digital billboards to just three companies. Judge Green described the Weiss/Delgadillo deal as 'poisonous.'

Deja Vous all over again!

There goes 10:12 AGAIN with the libel that Weiss has anything at all to do with Rocky's billboard deal.

It's well documented to anyone but a political hack or total idiot that he only learned about it when the other councilmembers did, and was the one who raised the strongest and most immediate objections, starting with outrage that regular billboards had been given the right to convert to digitals - and with no extra fee.

Worse of all as even Christine Pelisek in the Weiss-hating Jill Stewart run L A weekly pointed out, Weiss was furious that there was no mechanism for citizens and the city to know which billboard companies were putting up which signs where - that in fact, Rocky had caved to the billboard co's demands that such info was "proprietary." The half mil $ that Rocky got from ClearChannel for his campaign was all his, and to allege as Trutanich and jane Usher did throughout the campaign and THIS idiot does now, that Weiss had any connection to Rocky, is part of the lies they used because they had NOTHING to run on in Trtuanuch's own record.

With Jane Usher going around sending threatening letters to bloggers out of desperation that the truth hurts, she should start with herself and Trutanuch's other paid liars and spinners.

Here we go.. shame on the LA County Democratic Party for setting him up for this run. All politics are partisan and now he is in a position to run over the party candidate that wins the primary and then run for governor in 2018 if not sooner!. The Democratic party nominee for AG will have to come out of what is expected hard fought and expensive primary and then face a well positioned and funded Republican Steve Cooley. Betcha dollars to donuts Harman will give way it what Republicans do and Dems have't learned.. What does Cooley have to sell his party? Simply that he is electable to the state office because Democrats have supported his election for a recond 3 terms in LA County where the Dems out numbered Republicans 2-1. LA County party Chair Eric Bauman and his lackies should be replaced for letting this happen moreover for allowing Hector DelaTorre sell them a bill a goods without taking a little time to verify the truth! Shame Shame Shame.. and Dems should support Dela Torres' opponent for Insurance Commisioner in the primary.

2:41, shame on the Democratic party for being in such disarray that they "set him (Cooley) up for this run."

Although Democrats outnumber Republicans in the county 2:1, they've shown the Republicans that they don't get out and vote, don't support their candidates, that the politicians themselves eat each other out of petty jealousies while the Republicans "vote as a bloc," as John Thomas likes to say correctly. They run as moderates and govern as extremists and party- first hacks, so shame on the Democrats, indeed. (With the exception of Schwarzenegger, who the Republicans hate as a true moderate, "Kennedy Republican.")

At 10:20 1/2 it's not clear but I meant that Republicans run as moderates then operate as extremists -- looking at Trutanich as a case in point. Claimed not to be beholden to rightwing groups that were his bread & butter like the rightwing arm of the NRA, the Rifle & Pistol assn. ha ha ha.

Their war on pot, instead of real criminals, filling up the prisons as real prisoners are ordered released due to overcrowding, dumbasses. pandering to create more jobs for the Prison Guard Union so they'll fund Cooley's campaign.

Chasing down old pervert Polanski because it's big headlines, especially nabbed at an international film fest - but letting thousands of rape kits sit in a backlog, at the DA's and Sheriff's Baca's office, because their multi-billion $ budgets had some cuts. Well maybe they should prioritize not pander as p partisan hacks.

Using Wendy just to audit Rocky's old books, to "get him" for Cooley in his run for Attorney General, is misuse of the office - and another reason Trutanich went back on his promise to Chick to drop the suit so the Controller can audit any office; HE doesn't want to be audited, and his lies about "saving IS a dumbass BUT hey "want" Rocktard. Who IS a dumbass BUT misusing both the city attorney's and Controller's offices this way FOR THE COUNTY DA when our city's broke, is way way wrong.
