Paul's office in S-T is up & running. Where is Chris Essel's?
Fellow Citizens,
On Tuesday, December 8, 2009, the City of Los Angeles will conduct the Council District 2 Special Runoff Election. This election will determine who will represent all of us on the Los Angeles City Council for the next 14 months, at a minimum, and potentially for longer than a decade.
We believe that Paul Krekorian is the person who should fill the seat on the City Council. His successful track record in public service demonstrates his ability to identify issues, come up with creative solutions, and work hard to get them implemented. We need this fresh approach in City Hall.
Paul will be ready to take the CD2 reins on day one and tackle the many issues facing the City of Los Angeles. His strong record on the environment, support for saving the Verdugo Hills Golf Course, and willingness to buck the status quo will serve the citizens of Council District 2 well.
Join us and vote for Paul Krekorian on December 8th.

With all due respect Joe, you and Phil have done nothing but volley campaign-type posts from the candidates that enlighten us on nothing, since we've seen these things a hundred times already.

Well well well, we see again the S-T so called leaders of the community back a loser. They were behind Tamar before, we saw how that turned out. Face it people- Its Essel on the 8th so get used to it. How nice it will be to send Paul packing back to Burbank. You can tell Paul sees this one slipping through his slick fingers. I used to work for Joel Wachs in CD2 and I know this district really well. I can tell you if any candidate named "Krekorian" can have all the ST leaders rapped up against some one name "Chris", that tells me this is all over but the counting.

Kudos to ST leaders. Most of them backed Mary Benson (great lady) when it counted for her, and endorse against Essel in the second round.

However I must say that I am not pleased by the Essel campaign up here.
It is stupid not to have an office in the Sunland Tujunga area, this district is not just Studio City and Sherman Oaks.

The Los Angeles Times reports on a woman who was murdered by her estranged boyfriend as two LAPD officers sat in their car outside her apartment. Once alerted to the attack, the officers went to the apartment but a metal security door prevented them from entering. One officer shot through a window and struck the suspect. The woman and the suspect were taken to a hospital where they both died. The reader comments to the story are dominated by, what else, people blaming the police for the woman’s death, most often in a semi-literate fashion.
It remains to be seen what failures, if any, were committed by the LAPD in this case, but there is one government agency that unquestionably failed this poor woman, and thus far I’ve seen no reporting on it. The estranged boyfriend had been deported less than a year ago after convictions for various felonies, but he nonetheless thought nothing of returning to Los Angeles and resuming his criminal habits.
The officers of the Border Patrol strive bravely to do their job even as the country lacks the political will to see that job done effectively. Save some outrage for those who, for political reasons, allowed this evil man unfettered passage into the country.

Phil, what is YOUR track record? If you subtract the REALLY embarrassing dropping out of college/law school, and a last place finish in the mayor's race, and very funny food table write ups, you've got nothing.

At this point Chris' campaign goal is to confuse and discourage voters so much as to not vote. This is her only path to victory.

Krekorian is going to have a real problem now that Sheriff Baca has joined the battle and endorsed Chris Essel. It's bad for Krekorian that only the police union are behind him as the big endorsement from Trutanich went to Essel all because Krekorian voted to let 40,000 criminals out of jail early.
Krekorian was right to let them out because they are all low-grade criminals who made a few silly mistakes and keeping them in jail is a waste of money.

Plea bargains are the norm; a first offender in almost every situation is given misdemeanor status or, if nothing like that is available, they get suspended sentences with a probation that includes a little county jail time, maybe.
They need to be bad guys and girls to get to State Prison, and you don't want one of them, let alone 40,000 of them hanging around in your neighborhood and endangering you and your family.

AND illegally, both in terms of being a thug in direct VIOLATION of their contractual agreement, and in HOW he did it, by extortion, and abusing our city staff and the power of his office - if that shameless rightwing DA weren't his puppetmaster stringing him along to do his dirty work in his political vendettas, charges would have been filed already.
IF the Council weren't cowards who have no idea what the hell they're doing, they'd ORDER Nooch to leave AEG (and any others in similar situations) ALONE. OR ELSE.
