The Mayor has entered into an agreement with a private company that offers to provide a 5 to 40% prescription drug discount to anyone who presents a card featuring the Mayor's mug at their local pharmacy. Anyone who lives in Los Angeles County can use the program which the Mayor wishes to take national.
No word on how the plan is paid for.

As usual, no evidence of finacial planning presented by the Mayor. Does he have trouble with numbers?
We need the City Council to maintain long term balanced financial plans so the impact of any new programs are evaluated in the context of overall city revenues and expenditures.
If the program is not financially sustainable in the long run, or causes the budget to go in the red at any time, the Council must either shelve it or cut something else.
Sounds like someone's sweetheart deal.
This is just what we need in Los Angeles; more ways to get people's hands on dope for less money, prescribed by some quack doctor, who's in the mix.
Let’s hope it benefits those who need it. People on a fixed income like seniors and those who are seriously ill and need help.

In the mayor's defense, this program probably doesn't cost anything beyond printing the cards, because the drug distributor is just passing on lower prices it negotiated with the manufacturers for really large orders. Thousands of additional L.A. customers increases its customer base, therefore buying power, and therefore leverage with manufacturers, just like WalMart.
However, if you Google "free prescription drug card" you'll see that several of these "plans" exist already. You might then ask yourself why the mayor needed to spend any time on this at all.
In fact, they all say they can offer up to 75% discounts rather than just 40%. I guess that means the mayor's toothy grin merits a -35% discount.
Hey, the "tinpot dictator" won a legitimate election, so where do you get off calling those stupid names and reducting the argument ot ad hominums?
He is doing something for the constituents; what are YOU doing, loser?
Wait four more years and run yourself; maybe you'll do as well as David Saltsburg or whatever his real name might be. Then you can continue your campaign to try to run down whoever else is in office trying to do a good job.
