Walter Moore Endorses Mary Benson for CD2!
Mayoral candidate and Mayor Sam comment fave Walter Moore is endorsing Mary Benson for Council District Two.Mr. Moore's statement:
"I strongly support Mary Benson for City Council. The entire city would benefit from the election of Mary Benson to the City Council for District 2.
I've known Mary Benson for over a decade. She's level-headed; she cares deeply about the quality of life for LA. and its citizens; and she's got integrity, integrity, integrity. The last thing this city needs is another career politician jumping from one office to the next, or politicians who rent apartments in an area to qualify for the ballot. Mary Benson has lived in Council District 2 forever. She's running for office not because she wants a career in politics, but because she cares about her city, which is our city.
If you want someone honest, dedicated and qualified on the City Council, someone who will fight for the public interest instead of special interests, Mary Benson is your candidate."

I would like to learn more about these candidates. I only know that Chris Essel is a former Paramount exec and hasn't been involved in anything. I like the comments about Paul K. too.
boy, seems some people didn't like the negative posts on PPL police union, Trutanich and Ron Kaye on previous posts about Chief so they threw up 3 threads all in a row to hide them. We're not dumb we all read them.
Will Mary Benson soon be coming out with campaign hats and yard signs?

Last night, I learned Benson was someone to watch when I noticed Krekorian, Galatzan, and Edsel quoting her and saying outloaud they agreed with her.
1:54 is right: how fast Higby and his bloggers are throwing up threads to hide another huge f-ckup by their boy thug Trutanich who is on a vendetta against Bratton - determined to dig into the AEG affair until he finds something to harass Bratton with.
While the whole world praised his and LAPD's excellent handling of the Jackson funeral and the Lakers parade, only Trutanich and Zine attacked him out of jealousy and spite. While Weber went along with them, against the itnerests of the rank and file cops PPL is supposed to support.
If the Times has any balls left they'll dig into this - personal vendettas are what Nooch's agenda is all about, first Rocky and some councilmembers but the way he's been harassing Bratton is shameful.
As for Benson, she's a S-T person, but what does she know about Studio City or Sherman Oaks? And would she have the guts to stand up to Trutanich/Zine/Parks/Smith/ Rosendahl when it comes to protecting the new chief from their harassment and Trutanich's?
Well of course Benson looked good last night......IT WAS HER HOME TURF. No other candidiates are horse people. and it was HER group hosting the event. PLEEEESE give us a break. She couldnt win if she were the ONLY candidate.
I've seen Mary and friends stand face to face against the Army Corps of Engineers, and win.
She's doomed!

I have no doubt that Mary Benson can hold her own and put Greig Smith, Dennis Zine and Bitter Bernie through the wringer.
I don't see why she can't learn about Sherman Oaks and Studio City. What makes her different from Tamar, Paul or Chris learning about Mary's side of town.

So how does that affect Walter Moore and his endorsement? I've never met Walter nor have I voted for Walter.

i appreciate walter moore's take on the issues. some of us still care about what is best for los angeles and would like to see it do well both legally and constitutionally.

As part of our evolving successes we have seen this year in removing corruption in Los Angeles with grassroots representation, Mary Benson's demonstrated leadership in environmental and water issues make her the candidate, once in the runoff, who will defeat - whether it be Krekorian, Galatzan, or Edsel - in December.
Isn't Walter Moore the attorney for Mary Benson. In other words, isn't Mary Benson a client of Walter Moore?
And you have all the three contributors of this blog agreeing what a great lady she is and not all candidates are allowed to be mentioned.

Why would a highly placed Democrat Assemblymember - the majority whip nonetheless - drop a seat to which he was just elected and run for an area that he is only marginally a part of?
So that he can then drop CD2 and run for Mayor.
So that he can then be put up for governor.
Needless to say, the reason Krekorian would not address anything specifically or make any promises to the community at Tuesday's forum is because he couldn't give a rats ass about CD2. Except to use it, that it.
Walter Moore is not Mary Benson's attorney.
They did meet that way more than a decade ago when her company hired him for a case. That is long over, something like 15 years ago. You would know that if you really did the research.
