Will Emanuel Pleitez find employment on the Third Floor at City Hall ??
"Soon to be Mayoral Staffer Emanuel Pleitez ??"
Speculation and e-mails are running rampant that CD-14 Political Newcomer Emanuel Pleitez has been hired for an unknown position by Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.
"> Just heard pleitz guy who ran against cedillo just got hired by mayor"
If the e-mails and speculation is true, this would be Pleitez second tour as a staffer for Antonio Villaraigosa.
Pleitez served on the staff of Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and briefly worked on the Senate Democratic Steering and Coordination Committee. Then he moved to the private sector, working as a financial analyst at Goldman Sachs. This experience helped qualify him to serve on the Treasury Department Transition Team for the new Obama administration.
Recently Pleitez had an "Q and A" with Eastsider LA blogger Jesus Sanchez in which he commented on his future job prospects and political callings.
Q. What are you doing now for a living?
A. I'm looking for a job or the next project to work on.
Q. Have you decided that you want to run for public office again? If so, what would you be interested in?
A. I have not decided to run for public office again, but if I were a betting man, I'd bet that I will run again. Instead of the question being: what would you be interested in, the better question would be what would I be best prepared or qualified for? If I would run again, I wouldn't know right now what that office would be.
If Pleitez were to return for a second go around with Villaraigosa, the timing and possible position, has and will cause speculation on the Mayor's reason for hiring the CD-14 native.
First, this is a payoff for Pleitez's success in the run for Congress and the damage that his upstart efforts caused fellow CA-32 candidate State Senator Gil Cedillo, who's above attack ad back fire and was met with consternation from many. This lends credence to those who thought that Parke Skelton and Eric Hacopian were a consulting "tag team" against Gil Cedillo through their respective candidates Judy Chu and Pleitez.
Second, Mayor Villaraigosa gives Pleitez job to keep him from running against Villaraigosa ally Councilman Jose Huizar in 2011.
Third, one theory has Villaraigosa looking for someone to "run against" Huizar due to some sort of falling out between Villaraigosa and Huizar.
Fourth, a "lame duck" Villaraigosa needs someone connected to President Obama to bring federal projects and cash to the city.
What ever the future is for Pleitez in the days ahead, the political tea leaves read "onward and upward", to where ??

I don't know this Pleitez guy, but my guess is that there are a few photos of everybody looked wasted like this. And if you aren't in some, it's the exception not the rule.
But what I do know is that Huizar is an arrogant, self promoting, do nothing. So I would rather risk getting another POSSIBLE arrogant, self promoting do nothing than another term with Huizar who factually is one.
All of those banana republic banners Huizar has on every public event flyer speaks volumes about him. And can he say the name Princeton a few more times?

The Saving Los Angeles Project needs to find a credible candidate to support in CD-14 against Huizar. The time is now to start planning who is going to run, line up the fundraising, and organize the community activists.
The hearing on the Autry expansion showed Huizar's weakness with his own constituents. The community in CD-14 has risen up in outrage over his lazy, do-nothing attitude about protecting the Southwest Museum from Autry's shameful actions.
Huizar may have said some things at the hearing to publicly appease constituents, but there is no guarantee that he can get the Mayor and Autry compadres to agree to an acceptable deal to assure the future of the Southwest. And if he is unsuccessful, his constituents and all those community leaders behind the Southwest Museum are going to fry him politically in the next election.

I was passing by the new police headquarters and was shocked to see the new Civic Auditorium named after Ronald Deaton the old CAO of the city. This is total BULLSHIT and DISRESPECT FOR LAPD FALLEN HEROES. Seems Eric Garcetti and Jan Perry decided to put forth this motion without ANY COMMUNITY INPUT. THE PUBLIC HEARING WAS CLOSED. READ THE IT YOURSELF. JPW DARE THESE ASSHOLES DISRESPECT LAPD AND FALLEN HEROES WHO DESERVE TO HAVE THEIR NAME LIKE DEPUTY CHIEF KENNY GARNER. HE'S A FUCKING CIVILAN NOT LAPD OFFICER. This was done behind closed doors last year Jan 2008. SNEAKY, ASSHOLES AGAIN. SCREW THEM RON DEATON'S NAME DOES NOT BELONG ON THE NEW POLICE HEADQUARTERS PUT HIS NAME ON ANOTHER DAMN BUILDING. ASSHOLES!!
.....enjoyed and appreciated, sometimes feared, but mostly loved and respected that greatest public servant, Ron Deaton; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that by the adoption of this Resolution, the Council of the City of Los Angeles hereby commemorates Ron Deaton's great service to the
City by naming the auditorium at the New Police Administratio,as the "Ronald F. Deaton Civi~ Auditorium."
NO DOUBT THE COMMUNITY WOULD HAVE SAID NO NO NO NO NO

If Pleitez ran a real congressional campaign, he would have done a VBM program, either by mailing out an absentee ballot application or going door-to-door collecting them. He didn't do either type of VBM campaigning which anyone knows is a must to be competitive in a election of that size. His campaign was all a deception and sadly, Pleitez probably deceived himself and his supporters.

Well, Jose and Ed Reyes still have their PLUM committee to attend to keep them busy with 700 to 800 Hardship Exemptions to the Medical Marijuana Dispensary Moratorium pending up to the time the hardship exemption was de-activated.
And now they have to fill
Jack Weiss' spot on PLUM. You can see from the membership components of the committee just why that backlog was not attended to as it should have been.
Now they are trying to do damage control but they are the damage, just 1/3 less now with Weiss moving on.
It's just business as usual at City Hall.

We saw what a bang-up job he did there.
On the other hand, he's no more or less qualified to hold public office than "Two-bill" Gil, "Man in the Mirror" Huizar and Mayor Cholo-tonio.

Treasury dept experience! Please! He was only there about a month, maybe two on the transition team before he exited back to LA to run for office. He's smart but way too arrogant--thinks he knows better than everyone -- It would have taken him a while to get heard in Congress-build alliances-- not good for the rest of us--
