FREE 4th of July Celebrations in Boyle Heights and El Sereno!
My family and staff would like to invite you and yours to join our 4th of July Celebrations! Two great events have been planned. One in Boyle Heights and one in El Sereno.
We will celebrate the birth of our nation and the spirit of our community.
There will be live entertainment and lots of great food! And most importantly, both events are FREE!

Sounds more like Cinco de Mayo. Maybe that's why this on on the 5th?
The birth of which nation is being celebrated with Mariachi music, and bands with Latino names? Far as I know the birth of our nation has to do with guys with so-called "anglo" names who fought the real Anglos.
This was a fucking joke. People at Hollenbeck Park said the fireworks were less then 10 minutes long. Then he had the tax payers pay for the El Sereno parade and fireworks show. This is hilarious because the gang banger Mayor's vision is for a GREEN LA and morons like Huizar, Reyes, and Parks who all had fireworks shows in their districts are sending toxins in our air and polluting it. Yeah right nice way to have a green LA. This is the stupidity of who represent the city. Idiot Huizar didn't even think of taking the ducks out of the water before his fireworks show.
If he had taken the ducks out, they would have gone to his home for a late night snack.
What is this costing the City? I here that each show is over $20,000. Is this coming out of Clarts? What happen to eagle Rock, now 20K show for them? Huizar is a joke, this will cost him on his next election verus Cedillo.
Mayor Sam you should do a thread on the 4 True Angel volunteers. One from CD 14 is Huizar's bitch boy Sal an ex gang member who does nothing but kiss butt to politicans. Of all the great volunteers in the city many who are on neighborhood councils from all over the Mayor picked the 4 biggest lapdogs.

More like 8mins. Both shows looked like they should have cost ONLY $200 dollars. I've seen better shows in my back yard. I hope the tax payers didnt pay for this. Please tell me this isnt true that we actually paid for it.

the money is fundraised to pay for the fireworks. its done on the 5th because its 1/2 the price.
If the councilmember didnt do it, then you would write he doesnt care about the community.
he does it and all you can write is that its on the 5th? and that it borderlines 5 de Mayo? the talent and bands were local. El Sereno's former music teacher is a member of Chico, one of the bands, etc. the woman who sang the Star spangled banner was incredible.
The councilman has a great event for families with a fair that allows locals schools and organizations to fundraise, and sure, its no Queen Mary fireworks show, but its still a great family show in the neighborhood.
Enough with being petty.

What happened to Eagle Rock? Don't we deserve a fireworks show? We use to have them at the Yosemite Park. We could have had them there and or at the Eagle Rock Parl. All the people in our town could have watched, instead we were left out. What is wrong with Huizar? The mayor ditched us, after outing Pacheco who was a responsive representative with lies and false promises. Then we get Huizar who is constantly MIA in our neighborhoods. Wake up Eagle Rock! Stop voting in losers to represent us.
And did you read the article about the mayor hiring someone? I thought there was a freeze on hiring... I guess as long as he can hire who cares who gets fired...

No its not! It's coming out of the Clarts fund. The fund that is suppose to be used for community benefits. Doesn't seem like a community benefit to me, they didnt have one where I live in Hermon. I guess us white folks are left to fend for ourselves. Damn barrio pimp.

Eagle Rock gets its 20 thousand big annual event from Huizar for the huge music festival he sponsors every year. Plus all the street closures and street cleanup afterwards it's probably worth more. Would you rather stop doing that event so Eagle Rock can have a stupid fireworks show like the CD14 barrio hoods? No thanks, the music festival ROCKS.
