What has become of one Henry Casas??

........... or as some have speculated, maybe the headline should be "What does Henry Casas have on Jose Huizar??"

Henry Casas (on the left in picture) is a Deputy Chief of Staff for Councilman Jose Huizar.

Casas is currently on "paid administrated leave" pending resolution of his trial for domestic violence.

Yet what drives speculation in CD 14 (which has the potential to become a growth industry with the antics of Councilman Jose Huizar), is why Casas is still collecting a pay check.

As with past episodes concerning staffing issues in Councilman Jose Huizar's Office, the rumor mill is moving into hyper drive on what is really taking place within the staffing environment of CD 14.

With the number of staffers and a greater number of ex. staffers, surely someone can elaborate further on the Casas saga......????

Nobody cares. Time for Red Spot to post a "conversation" like Mayor Sam does to get people to clickety click. Maybe a better subject would do the same.

Hahahahaha nobody cares about your beef with Huizar. You're just jealous because you must be ugly and un handsome.

There has always been a tradition in politics that a staffer involved in a dispute of this kind takes a paid leave of absence. That is because to fire them for apprearances sake encourages people to file suits knowing they can destroy the other persons financial livelihood. If he is guilty, he will pay the price in court where he is supposed to pay the price. Let's not trash a guy here when no one knows all of the facts.

Innocent until proven guilty?

If he is found guilty, the court will punish him and he'll pat the price, accept his punishment (fine) and Huizar will decide if he wants to keep him or not.

(After all, you can be a councilman and snort coke while driving a city car to make your purchase while wearing womens underwear. Found guilty? That's cool. Finish your term, go to rehab and then go back and work for T-W-O councilmen when you're done. Think Hernandez.)

If Henry is found innocent, he will return to work and Huizar will decide if he wants to keep him. I vote yes. He's a good staffer regardless of his personal life.

I'm sure that paid administrative leave could possibly mean that he is using up his sick and vacation time until there is a verdict.

Ok post here where we can check out that charges were dropped. Rumor has it that he pleaded to a lesser offense. That's our tax dollars if this out of control, ego manic is still getting paid but in city hall there is a double standard. Is Henry still driving his city vehicle? Where the hell is David Z on this story? Word is he's been bought out by camp Antonio.

Jan Perry staffer totaled city car and is still on staff
janice Hahn staffer cited for DUI and still on staff
Rosendahl staffer arrested for assault and still on staff attending meetings.

What the hell is going on in city hall with these young assholes out of control and not be reprimanded? Are these the ones Antonio doesn't try to lay off.

Disappointed Rick Coca went to work for the enemy after leaving from Daily News. Henry was a dick to community. He made the lower staffers announce him as Mr. Casas and he has an ego as big as Antonio's. No one liked him and Huizar has gone through over 18 staffers. They vent on Huizar being a dictator and treats staffers mean. He got rid of the gay staffers cause the rumors started swirling around.

Belinda don't work there anymore either. She quit. Huizar's web site is always out of date listing staff that's no longer there and doesn't list some current staff that are actually there. Way more people work in that city hall office than they list on the web site. I don't know why Huizar insists on trying to trick people or make it seem like something it ain't. Such BS.

I'm glad Henry is there. He was probably never the chief of staff in the first place. You just say what you want to make your stories sound good.

So he's not guilty. He keeps his job. It's all good.

You know what I find really funny about you 5:29? How incredibly uneducated are you about the process of the city.

What gives the Mayor the authority to FIRE council staff? Go read the charter or something. If it's too deep for you, have someone dumb it down.

But coming here bashing the Mayor for things not under his authority make you look like you don't know what you're talking about (which you don't), so people tune you out.

What about the thousands of dollars he's taking from the neighborhood councils in Cd14. Isn't there a ethics violation in that? They've paid him tons of money so they can show up to his events. Doesn't he have a $1 miilion discretionary fund?

whoa!!!! what is going on here?! I dont even know where to start! first off, who is redspot? a former staffer? higby himself? what's with the guy crush on huizar? i know he's cute, but come on! there are far more important issues, some of these comments dont even make sense! LA is more than just CD14! What about Bernie Parks? South LA is hurting for some proper representation, anyone care to comment on that?

Remember that before he was a DCOS for Huizar, Casas was his campaign manager for the last City Council election.

When do MOST of the ethics violations committed by CMs take place? (Well, the ones we find out about anyway). DURING election cycles, when the money is flying in and everyone is playing both side of the coin.

"OKAY, I'm on the clock for CD14 today, but I need to hit up this clown for a contribution or an endorsement, so I'm going to 'take a quick break' and handle this.

Council staffers take 50-60 "breaks" every from their city jobs, for the six months leading up to elections, to do campaign work totalling hours of every work day. And, as long as they say "I'm on a break" and use their own cell phones, etc., they're covered.

If you want to speculate, go where the action was. Casas knows all the excrement that Huizar and Parke Skelton pulled a couple years ago. No way he goes away empty handed.

The one who's "really" missing is Hidalgo, the "other" deputy COS. Where the hell did he disappear to. . . he was on the roster when Casas was placed on leave?

12:11 pm PATHETIC ATTEMPT to divert the dialogue about the Huizar corruption. Huizar has become a fat slob and losing his hair. What about the rumor Huizar has some of his Zaratecas gov't croonies in the Eastside and has diverted CLARKS Fund monet yo them. Zuma makes a good point in council asking where is all that money being tranferred to???

It is a known fact in CD 14 that Henry Casas had an affair with Celina Mancia, staffer from the Boyle Heights Office. Huizar discovered this affair in early January shortly after Casas was arrested for spousal abuse.

Of course his charges got dropped. He works within the LA City Major ' inner circle.

I had the opportunity to meet this person in person at Los Angeles City Hall and I can say this man, Mr Henry Casas, is rude and confrontational.

Instead of helping the person that visits him with the intention of helping and finding solutions, he goes out to meet constituents with the clear intention to confront, intimidate away from even attempting to reach officials, and clearly in this process he shows how ill prepared he is to manage , master and solve issues as well as showing poor communication skills.

He lacks basic investigative skills, and is very rudimentary when it comes to assessing a situation. He is quick to show a temper and being part of the City of LA staff, that is a major liability. This is Customer Service 101

He is definitely a liability, not an asset, to the City of LA.

I did not know anything about these charges, the spousal abuse charges, so reading about this after having met Mr Casas in person makes these charges more credible by reason of the aforegoing.
