Our Official Predictions for 2009
At the end of each year we offer up predictions as to what will happen n the coming new year and often with little accuracy. However so far we've wrapped up the disaster of our 2008 predictions, logged your predictions for 2009 and now present our official prognostications for next year:
- Dianne Feinstein will announce her campaign for California Governor in early 2010; Antonio Villaraigosa will announce prior to the March primary he has chosen not to run for Governor. Some will suspect a Villaraigosa-Feinstein deal; if he gets out and she wins, Feinstein will appoint Villaraigosa to her Senate seat.
- The LAUSD will teeter seriously close to bankruptcy; the number of charter school starts will increase. Both the LAUSD and the UTLA will play even harder ball to block as many charters as possible.
- California's budget and credit crisis will ultimately lead to the loan foreclosure of some major LA Community Redevelopment Agency projects. This will seriously strain agency receipts of tax increment financing leading to a near financial meltdown for the CRA.
- The California Supreme Court will declare Proposition 8 unconstitutional; it will eventually get to the US Supreme Court but not until 2010 or 2011.
- Racial gang violence in South LA will increase in the new year causing several nights of rioting and warfare, leading President Obama himself to come to LA to negotiate the peace. During the visit he will offer what many perceive as a major snub to Mayor Villaraigosa.
- Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger will announce he is running for the US Senate Seat occupied by Barbara Boxer.
- Zuma Dogg will receive more votes than Walter Moore in the March primary.
- Obama's Attorney General Eric Holder will announce his office is seeking major indictments against SEIU, starting with Local 721 as the result of a serious investigation into labor union corruption.
- Nick Patsaouras will defeat Wendy Greuel for City Controller.
- Home Depot facing significant revenue losses will install new corporate management who will freeze store expansion plans ultimately putting an end to the retailer's effort to build a store in Sunland-Tujunga by the end of the year.
- Former KABC talkshow host Larry Elder will be selected to take over the radio program of the retiring Bill O'Reilly, ironically eventually returning him to the station as his Los Angeles affiliate.
- Patrick Range McDonald of the LA Weekly will win a Pulitzer Prize for his investigative reporting of Mayor Villaraigosa.
- Alaska Governor Sarah Palin will announce she will challenge incumbent US Senator Lisa Murkowski in the 2010 Republican Primary.
- District Attorney Steve Cooley will announce a felony indictment of a major Los Angeles elected official on criminal but not corruption charges.
- Educator Louis Pugliese will narrowly defeat San Fernando Mayor Nury Martinez for Board of Education.
- Former Presidential candidate John McCain and his wife Cindy will be selected to host a daytime talk show.
- The Los Angeles Dodgers will defeat the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the World Series, game 6.
- The US Department of Transportation will place Metrolink into receivership and take over day to day operations following a major investigation that shows serious mismanagement and corruption at the agency.
- Ron Kaye and the SLAP movement will announce the formation of another effort to lead the San Fernando Valley to secede from the San Fernando Valley, however this time it will be a highly coordinated effort with similar communities in the Harbor, Westside and CD14.
- The race for the 5th Council District will culminate in a runoff between candidates Paul Koretz and David T. Vahedi and will be so close the election won't be certified for as much as two months after the polling is complete.

#19 - hahaha!! Unfortunately, other districts won't help the valley, especially not CD 14. The dolts you listen to, and the ones your protege red spot promoted are not the movers and shakers in the eastside. No one pays any attention to them, except for you and Zuma (who only pays attention because they feed him)
No one will go near Villaraigosa at this point. Why don't you think the Obama team stayed clear of him? He has low performance numbers and Ace Smith is trying desperately to counter attack. Too many people are now aware of the clown we have as mayor. He will campaign on other people's accomplishments and say he is the one that wanted more police. Fact is HE voted AGAINST having more police as a councilman because he didn't want HAHN to get credit. In other words WE WOULD HAVE HAD MORE POLICE 4 YEARS AGO IF VILLARAIGOSA WASN'T SUCH AN IDIOT.
Soon Matt Dowd will go back to New Zealand.

Here is another prediction for you.
If Phil Jennerjahn wins the election for Mayor in 2009, he will have the new City Attorney subpoena the personal records of Mirthala Salinas (cell phone, text, and email) to find out exactly how and when Antonio Villaraigosa was spending our City time and money when he was supposed to be doing his job as Mayor.

Phil I like you but you're not going to win.
And why bother with Mirthala? It was a sad, sordid tale but I don't think dredging up her personal records accomplishes anything unless you know of some specific larceny committed by the Mayor that you can prove.
The girl made a very bad mistake and paid greatly for it. She has a new man and has moved on.
While Number 19 might very well be the best hoped for of them all, the idea that Tony, the Clownsil, and the bureaucracy would ever allow the Harbor Area (PORT OF LOS ANGELES) to slip away from, is far too hard to even imagine.
San Pedro was a city unto itself before L.A. helped bankrupt it during its efforts to take control of the harbor and the money changing hands there.
Sadly, San Pedro and Wilmington is stuck to Los Angeles and Tony would probably use force, if necessary, to keep the two areas in the fold.
Now if the container business ever moved to Ensanada, THAT would be another story and you would probably see Los Angeles government stripping itself of the two areas faster than anyone could say, 'farewell'.
Our only hope in the area is to try, in 2009, and get L.A.U.S.D. broken up and allow Wilmington, Harbor City, Lomita, and San Pedro to form a District that can become manageable.
Who is David Vahedi in CD 5? Is he related to perennial loser Tyrone Vahedi?
Ritter Simon will win it in the primary because the business community will finally get serious about local elections.
Here is another prediction for you.
If Phil Jennerjahn wins the election for Mayor in 2009, he will be unable to have new City Attorney subpoena the personal records of Mirthala Salinas (cell phone, text, and email) to find out exactly how and when Antonio Villaraigosa was spending our City time and money when he was supposed to be doing his job as Mayor because it does not fall within the purvue of the mayor to instruct the City Attorney to issue subpoenas.
However, if the Wisconsin cheese boy IS by some miracle elected as mayor, the earth will open up and swallow him, rendering the point mute anyhow.

The reason why, if I am elected Mayor, that I will be investigating the Antonio-Mirthala issue is because it is all about UNETHICAL and unprofessional behavior by both of them.
I would never criticize Antonio Villaraigosa for falling in love with someone else who was not his wife. I think it is unfortunate, but these things sometimes happens.
What I am concerned about it the utter hypocrisy of this man. He came into office and immediately said he wanted to clean up the ethics in this city... and then he turns right around and does something as stupid and as scandalous as this!
He allowed her to continue reporting on him for a long time when they had no business putting out that false front to the viewing/voting public.
Salinas is ruined. She will NEVER again be seen as an objective or professional journalist.
Villaraigosa is now widely viewed as dishonest and a man you can't trust. He had a professional responsibility to tell the media that Mirthala shouldn't be covering him any more.
He didn't do that, and now he will have to answer for that lack of good judgement, lack of ethical behavior, and lack of professionalism.
This town needs to be cleaned up.
Vote for a Conservative for a change.

My predictions -
Prop B will pass
Mayor V will be reelected
Prop 8 will be overturned (but won't go to the US Supreme Court because it doesn't qualify, there are no Federal issues involved)
Wendy will win the controller race
Jack Weiss will win as City Attorney
The Mayor Sam toads will continue shouting at the wall about all of the above but won't lift a finger or donate a dime to ensure i doesn't happen.
Dear Clueless Phil:
The Mayor cannot instruct the City Attorney to do anything. That's why the position is held by a separate elected official.
Hypocrisy is not a crime, so good luck to even the City Attorney trying to get AV's personal phone records.
You spelled "judgment" incorrectly.
I predict Trujillo will continue to kiss ass in City Hall and spin away on Mayor Sam and other blogs.

Oh really!!! You obviously haven't been out in the real world where people in this city are upset over the poor leadership of our Mayor. Antonio tried to spin with the help of Szabo and Ace that he wanted to stay in LA and didn't want to be on the Obama team. Yeah right!!! Antonio would rather stay here in LA then go to Washington?
