Hernandez Issues Call to Support for the Solar 8
Mayoral candidate David Hernandez has issued a challenge to his fellow candidates to support Ron Kaye and the Solar 8 in the lawsuit against them by the supporters tied to Mayor Villaraigosa over the group's ballot argument against Proposition B, a controversial solar energy measure.
No word yet if any other candidates are joining with Hernandez in his pledge to donate $1000 to the Solar 8's legal fund but I don't anticipate participation from candidate Walter Moore based on comments he posted on the Sister City Sunday evening. Moore's view appears to be that the plaintiff's case against the Solar 8 may have merit and that the focus should be on the measure itself.
Below is Hernandez's message sent to supporters:
My opponent in the March 3rd 2009 election has set his political attack dogs on these dedicated community leaders. Individuals like Ron Kaye, Jack Humphreville and Soledad Garcia and the others have been strong voices and supporters of our efforts to fight Prop R and yes the Los Angeles County Seal.
"As a candidate for Mayor of Los Angeles, I have pledged one thousand dollars to their legal battle. I have also issued a challenge to all other Mayoral Candidates to step forward and do the same."
David Hernandez
The attorney behind this attack is the Treasurer of the Mayors Re-election committee. He is also the attorney who represented the League of Women Voters and LA Area Chamber of Commerce against us in the Prop R Appeal.
As I began my campaign on December 12th, the day I qualified to be on the ballot, my funds are limited and I am very particular where they are invested. I do however see the fight facing the Solar 8 to be one which must be supported. We can talk and blog all we want but it must come right down to the basics. Unless they have the funds in order to put up a viable fight, we all lose.
As a candidate for Mayor of Los Angeles, I have pledged one thousand dollars to their legal battle. I have also issued a challenge to all other Mayoral Candidates to step forward and do the same. Put your money where your mouth is! Talk is cheap, but money talks loud and clear, so does the lack of it.
If you would like to join me in this effort, please respond to this e-mail with your contact info and we will see you in court on January 8th.

Hey David, what happened to Guilermo Huesca and his signatures to get qualified for the ballot? Some campaign manager you turned out to be!

Oh you better believe the movement is just starting. E-mails are going out citywide to everyone and covering all bases. Its about time people are seeing the corruption in city hall for themselves.

Higby, you shouldn't restate Mr. Moore's comments. Your assessment is unqualified. So much for your claim of impartiality. What else don't you like about him? Hm?

David Hernandez is a solution in search of a problem.

Yo David - will you get more than 100 votes out of this? ehh, maybe 50??
As the Great Philospher Bugs Bunny used to say, "eeeehhhhh, Could be"

Did David Hernandez turn into Bob Dole talking about himself in the third person?
David Hernandez knows full well what type of battle lies ahead. If we are to be successful we need more than the truth on our side. The Prop B 8 will need funding to pay for the vital resources needed to present a formatible fight.
As a Candidate for Mayor of Los Angeles I pledge to contribute one thousand dollars to the legal fight. As a Candidate for Mayor I challenge all other 8 candidates to match that amount. I know the current Mayor will not answer that challenge, but what about the rest?
David Hernandez

I'm about a thousand dollars short of the amount, but I'll be writing a 1000 word article about this issue in at least two local community newspapers, and have been blogging up a storm about the issue on ZD's BLOG LOS ANGELES blog network. If I win the lottery though, I'll match it, bro!
I HAVE NEVER SEEN SO MUCH ACTIVITY ON AN ISSUE SINCE I'VE BEEN BLOGGING. I GOT THAT SAME RON KAYE EMAIL FROM ABOUT 20 PEOPLE. PLUS, the blog coverage.
IT APPEARS THIS IS THE TIPPING POINT ISSUE THAT HAS REALLY GALVANIZED AND ACTVIATED THE COMMUNITY.

Walter you shouldn't post anonymously.
However I think Michael got it right. I read your comments. You think Ron Kaye's fight is a waste of time. I am sure you won't be giving a $1000.
Is that because Kaye wouldn't let you be star?

This could be a big issue, but won't, Just like Prop. R. your so-called RICO suit against the neighborhood councils, etc. etc. etc.
Keep on truckin' mr. two minutes. Keep going to council and keep the entertainment up.

Pardon my insolence for asking, but have any of you even READ the petition or the petitioner's brief in this case?
You MAY want to consider both sides of the story before reaching any conclusions.
You can find links to both documents at the "What's New? page of my website, WalterMooreForMayor.com.

So the mutt doesn't have a dollar to his name - there's a shocker.
As for Hernandez, you should probably stop writing your own "press releases" because it makes you sound like an idiot when you go from third person to first.

Dear 7:57pm, Walter didn't post that anonymously. I did.
Now don't go and do the chicken & egg thing. Walter didn't post that. I did.

David Hernandez is a stooge (a patsy) for the Latino establishment in LA.
Think I'm crazy? I can prove it.
David Hernandez challenges Measure R, the unlawful Term Limits extender. He enables Alarcon and the Council to raise lots of money under the "legal defense" provisions. David Hernandez loses in court.
David Hernandez says he is going to "manage" the campaign of an Alarcon opponent. Alarcon gets some press, and uses it as an excuse to . . . raise more money.
David Hernandez says he is going to fight to preserve the LA County seal. Enabling Gloria Molina, etc. to raise lots of money for their legal defense funds.
Anyone sensing a pattern here?
Now this. Does anyone think David Hernandez will succeed? And help me out here all: there were at least one to two OTHER things that were set up just like the ones above.
And if the above is not true -- then what an inept guy.
To those against the Clowncil and our terrible Mayor: With "friends" like David Hernandez . . .

David,
I would be happy to help out the Solar 8, ... as I agree that this ill-conceived money grab of 3 billion in taxpayer dollars is a BAD idea...but I need to conserve all my funds for my print campaign for Mayor. I will be happy to address the issue when we are at City Council meetings.
I can even put the video on my website like I did here....
www.philjennerjahn.com
I hope to see you at the County GOP meeting when we each make our pitch to the leaders for the party endorsement. Thankfully, we won't have to compete with that disloyal Walter Moore, who stuck his dagger in our GOP party backs, and disavowed the GOP when it became convenient for his political career.

Trujillo, you have been kicking ass on the blog these past few days. I've been getting a real kick out of it.

Phil Jennerjahn is an idiot.
Walter ditched the GOP because they refused to offer him any support in the last election. In fact, they backed Democrat Jim Hahn.
But I shouldn't hold it against Phil for not knowing this - he probably wasn't living here at the time.

Watching the sniping between Jennerjerk and Wacko Moore, sadly seeing David Hernandez's bumbling and stumbling, I hate to say it but Zuma Mutt is looking better all the time.

Besides Trujillo Mitch is kicking ass on Jim Algore on the blog too. Fun stuff when City Hall isn't too busy.

Another aZuma prediction going down...

Right, and you think you're gonna win the mayoral race too...you really have the pulse of the community don't you aZuma.

Did I declare that I was going to win? Please post that, because I would like to see what I said. Because I don't remember seeing or hearing that.
I would like to pull the biggest percentage as possible. Not only as a voter statement to Villaraigosa and City Council, but to hopefully force a run-off.
If some people think I can possibly get 10%...and some of these other mayoral candidates are so big...then maybe ZD's extra 10% will force a run-off.
AND, a lot of bad City news that will reflect back on the mayor and his first term will be hitting between now, and March.
So, who knows what can happen. Maybe I'll get in front of the right crowd, and they'll like what I have to say, and after they research what I have been saying and blogging, some more support could come my way. Maybe some extra media exposure, closer to the election, where I can raise serious awareness of what is going down with the mayor and everything that all you blog readers already know about.
So maybe whatever percentage anyone thinks I will pull, it may end up being bigger, between and March. (But I still haven't said I was going to win on March 3.)
BUT YOU DON'T FEEL THIS MEASURE B AND THE SLAPP-ISH VILLARAIGOSA LAWSUIT, MORE THAN ANY OTHER ISSUE IN THE PAST TWO AND A HALF YEARS? (That's how long I have been following and blogging?)
Check the internet, fool. And to everyone else...you can stop sending me the blog post about it...I ALREADY HAVE ABOUT 20 COPIES FROM PEOPLE WHO HAVE FORWARDED IT TO ME. (Nothing has ever produced this much email into the ZumaTimes inbox.)
I hope you are just trying to spin (emphasis on "try"), because if you really think this ain't no big deal in the blog/activist/nc/homeowners world...you are the one without a pulse, my friend. Remember, I am rubber, you are glue...na, na, na, na, na...
This whole solar plan has already backfired and it ain't gonna reflect to good on the mayor for re-election.
Check out LA Weekly's new article on the BONDoggle, loser.
And, of course I hope to make it into the January issue of the Boulevard Sentinel and The Voice with an article about it.
AND DO A GOOGLE SEARCH, *%$$!@%!
YOU LOSE, CARL MILLER!

aZuma,
If the measure passes, I promise to shower every day for a week. If the measure fails, can you make the same promise?
Anonymous said:
Zuma has my vote and the votes of many other community activists. Wait till we start spreading the word, Zuma's votes will multiply quick.
Unknown said:
Yes, if the measure fails, I promise to take a shower as motivation and incentive for people to vote "no" so it will fail. That's my campaign promise to voters. Vote no on measure b, because if it fails, ZD will take a shower for a week! That should motivate all the councilmembers and their staff to vote "no" when they would have voted "yes."
Unknown said:
Maybe I can talk about the mayor's vindictive city hall and the solar measure b on the national news in early January '09? You gotta figure ZD is gonna get some national media attention in the new year.
