LA Weekly: Returning to "Weekly of Record" standards
In the recent past, this blogger has taken the LA Weekly and Editor Jill Stewart to task for losing the likes of investigated reporters Jeffery Anderson and David Zahniser to other mastheads and some would say, less discerning copy editing.
But in the recent weeks, the "Weekly of Record" is striving to live up to the moniker bestowed.
This week Jill Stewart has two posts on the "Rocky vs. The Chick" and "Ace dumping Villar for Brown" that are must reads.
In this week's edition, Max Taves takes a cynic's view to MTA's $40 Billion Dollar Tax Proposal and David Ferrell has the latest on the proposal by the Great-grandson of Col. Griffith to bestow historical status on Griffith Park.

If you read Stewart's commentary on the origins of the Fleishman Hillard scandal, then go to the commentary at patterico.com that Ron Kaye links to today, you'll wonder why it's taken this long for this shit to come to light. It's ironic that Stewart's other commentary is about Ace Smith. Connect the dots.

The LA Weekly is a piece of shit. All it is is shi shi Westsiders whining about foie gras, dumbass Bush and condos.
It wouldn't exist in the real world but it survives because it's paid for by all those Westsiders who frequent the boob job joints and porn/prostitute outfits that make up like 90% of the weekly ads.

What is wrong with "boob job joints", every woman should have the right to increase her breast size !!!!!
And I will fight to the death for the right of women to have large breasts !!!!!

Large breasts are fine. Do not want to think of them on Jill Stewart.

I mostly find the Weekly boring, but occassionally there are gold nuggets scattered in the affected verbosity.

12:02, if you're hetero, why do you care about the face attached to the large implants?

They had a fine series recently on the lengths Weekly writers go to get laid. One woman, resorted to a threesome with her "best friend" and friend's husband. After she got too into him, they dumped her. One guy lurks around in grocery stores looking for "cougars" because he's heard they're looking for young guys, but apparently not nerds like him. A companion piece to one about cougars, and a class taught by a guy -- none of them featured look too hot. Between that and Jonathan Gold's search for the perfect plate of pig's intestines, truly fine reporting.
Only good writer they have: Steven Leigh, who reports on the city's attempts to ram dense affordable housing everywhere.

The MAx Taves hatchet job on Villar was priceless! I love to re-read it over and over and over...because it validates everything I ever knew for the past 20 years about this phony, scammy, swarmy, oily, greasy, lying piece of scum!
Also, it's great sport to go back and re-read the hundreds of David Z. columns when he was at LAWeekly! He was truly a genius in those days! He gets it with the corruption in city hall!
It's patently obvious that the AMERICAN citizens of this city hate the guts of Villar and his gang of 15, and would depose him in a heartbeat next year. However, we have to prepare for massive voter fraud! Villar is going to win by implementing his fave tactic if we don't stop him.
We need to get election monitors all over the barrio areas and check the ID's of every voter. Also, the absentee ballots will be critical! Villar's posse is pushing absentee ballots for obvious reasons.
Villar & Co has brought UNTOLD massive corruption to this city...unlike ANYTHING we have seen before! It's the corrupt politics of Mexico at work...and it's the only way he can win...at ANYTHING!

The Weekly's main circulation area, and target audience is not the westside, but the Echo Park-Silver Lake area.

They have a lot of boob jobs and hosebags there too.
They just bathe less often than the westsiders.

Isn't Jill Stewart the one who anonymously bags on Higby all the time?

LA Weekly broke the story on the gang program corruption on Hector Marroquin and LA Bridges wasting millions of our tax dollars and the assholes in city council giving them more. If they continue this type of factual reporting now that the LA Slimes is down the toliet and Daily News right behind because of the immigrant shit they've been having it could well be the only credible newspaper in the 2nd largest city in the US

Jill Stewart doesn't bag on Higby all the time.
She's great at connecting the dots ans she's like a pit bull when she's on a story.
Jill is not shi shi anything.
Plus she's from the Valley so she has a good grasp of important issues.
