Big money is already flowing in the L.A. mayoral race
Possible Caruso run mobilizes mayor’s pals.

THE LOS ANGELES mayoral election is a year away, but Hollywood politicos are already coming out in force to raise funds for their favorite local politician, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.

And maybe it's just in the nick of time.

It turns out that shopping mall magnate and Republican moneyman Rick Caruso is considering running against the incumbent, which would turn the next citywide campaign into the best-dressed and perhaps most expensive mayoral race in history.

The guy couldn't act worth a lick.

Freakin' guy cracked up at everything. While people SAY that that's what was funny, it's just a truism that he simply couldn't act.

On that note, Tim Conway couldn't act much either. Nor Vickie Lawrence for that matter.

Carol Burnett was surrounded by talentless fools.

Our local electeds could have taken a lesson from his role as a corrupt politician in Blazing Saddles. At least if you're going to screw us, make us laugh at the same time.

Gawd, Rick Caruso, a successful billionaire, would be the pants off of Antonio.

I'm going to make a prediction: If Caruso gets into this race, Villraigosa might even pull out, for fear of getting his ass beaten so badly in the race.

Caruso in = the end of Villaraigosa's poltical career.

There's a sentiment against huge developers right now, and with Cooley the only other Republican in office, and more hands-off about illegal gangbanger criminals than even the local cops and Sheriffs, it's not much of a coalition. Caruso has no "base," but if he stirs debate, fine.

I'm not sure he wouldn't be just as bad on AB1818 and AB212, though -- even though his game is high-end housing, putting an end to ALL HOA objections would suit him just fine.

That's the Mayor Sam posters' thoughts for your consideration.

Going off the thread at the crack of the bat. Whatever the topic, this first post would have shown up.

... and nearly all posts absolutely and completely shunning the social convention of saying some good words about the recently departed. I liked him and he was funniest in the context of being with the whole bunch on the Carol Burnet Show.

R.I.P. Harvey Korman

Thanks for all the funny memories, especially in "History of the World, Part 1" one of the funniest movies ever made.

Wow, what a lot of star power already out there for Antonio. But Bratton's the "wild card?" I doubt he could be bought just by a party Carusu threw him -- he's not Rocky.

How could anybody call Carol Burnett's cast talentless? The show was funny, unlike a lot of crap on TV today that is passed off as comedy, both in series as well as standup. The cast made a great team and they played off each other well because there were having a good time and didn't let their egos get in the way. The comedy was clean and it poked good natured fun at real life that you laughed at because you could identify with it. A lot of today's comedy is about a political agenda which gets dated really quick.

Goes to show people with money are idiots and out of reality. Problem Antonio will have is people are sick of the illegals coming to LA and his support. OUt in the real world everyone wants Antonio GONE. Too bad Hillary screwed up and lost. I'm hearing people who are Democrats will register Republican because of the mess they have made of everything. Antonio has nothing accomplished to campaign on and will use LAPD. Cops hate him. I've seen buttons saying "ANYONE BUT VILLARAIGOSA"

I can't remember these guys very well, but what I do laud them for, is providing a real "family show" that parents and kids would watch together. No foul language, and even if you can't get the political humor of Comedy Central, you could watch it with your immigrant grandma.

Now no one watches a whole show together, that isn't "family time." The down side of everyone having a separate tv and computer screen.
