Blumenfield/Berman: "Beyond the Envelope"
The controversy continues for Assembly candidate Bob Blumenfield as the issue of a questionable independent expenditure committee set up by his father Michael Blumenfield and employer Congressman Howard Berman.Linda Sutton, a writer and active supporter of Blumenfield opponent Laurette Healey said "Of course, we have to really IMAGINE that there is no coordination between the campaign and the father across the street and the employer of 18 years. This IS a stretch, but, hey, can we really IMAGINE THIS???"

The Sister City had the opportunity to speak with a veteran of several campaigns who knows a thing or two about campaign finance law. Our source told us that "the actions of the Blumenfields go far beyond the envelope as it is usually interpreted. On just about every campaign where it has been an issue, the rules on coordination have been applied to mean that you can barely even have a social conversation with anyone affiliated with an IE. If one Blumenfield said to the other something as simple as 'We aren't getting much support east of the 405', that could be a violation. And if the parents were canvassing, they certainly know where the campaign is investing time and resources."
Is the District Attorney investigating?

Great Waldman story making the rounds today.
Stuart was walking the district and dropped in on the Healey Headquarters. Cancer survivor/Healey lackey Marcia Davalos booted his ass out of there for being obnoxious and handing out his own materials at the front door of the Healey Campaign. Next day, Mayor Sam hitpiece on Davalos shows up with "New comments have been disabled for this post by a blog administrator."
L.A. Times was right to endorse Blumenfield.
Comments are not disabled. Nice spin.
Oh - and it's not a hit piece on Davalos, it's a story about how the campaign is astro-turfing making it look like a high placed campaign staffer is "regular people" who supposedly support the candidate.
And to be frank, we DID NOT run some photos the campaign is using that we felt would be insensitive.

At this point, (3:30 the next day) there are still no comments. Not even the Waldman campaign's usual anonymous "Oh yeah, that's why I'M voting for Stuart Waldman" comment.

I just wanted to remind people of that, because slimey-ness and dishonesty, is all relative.

Bob and Lloyd can spin all day but it's not Laurette or Stuart that the Feds are investigating.
I didn't know that Antonio is now responsible taking over Chief Bratton's job now deploying officers. He should be training his so called Gang Czar that is made fun of all over the city for being an ignorant fool who has no experience and knows nothing about gangs. He says we should PRAY for them. Let a gang banger assault your kids and let's see if you think the same idiot Jeff Carr.
....The mayor also announced the deployment of 40 additional officers to "high gang crime" areas.
Berman narrowly escaped jail a generation ago. The youngsters here aren't even familiar with his check kiting scandal.
Berman's old, he's arrogant, and his brother is Cancer Man (aka Cigarette Smoking Man) from the X Files.
Last year, it was Martin Ludlow.
This year, Howard Berman.
Buh-bye.
Stuart keeps taking that tobacco money.... oh, yeah, that's an IE, too, so Stuart is no doubt repudiating efforts by big tobacco and big oil to support him with hundreds of thousands of very dirty dollars...

And he never had a single meeting with any party involved, did he? There was no communication between Stuart's king consultant and anyone involved with that IE?
You wanna know what's being investigated? I'll bet if I were in congress, I could get an investigation going.

Mayor Sam you have some crazy readers! First they get on here and say that "noone" reads your blog and post.
Then when "noone" posts comments on a story they find it incredible and impossible.
