Open Thread for Tuesday
Today's Open Thread: Your views on the biggest contest since THE THRILLER IN MANILA; that of the Westside White Guy, also known as the Alleged Fraudulent Prize Winner of Record, the dude who is always OBSERVING WEST LA AND HIS LIFE AND THE LA TIMES, always ready to use his "blog" to cut down anyone he feels the personal need to, versus that Champion of Justice, the Georgetown Guru, the Prince of Princeton, Walter Moore! Moore is now scaring the elites in LA enough to merit a swipe from an angry, old suburban, Anglo refusenik from the Valley.
Kevin's bitching about Walter's point at Ron Kaye's blog that the OLD GRAY HAG ON SPRING STREET is aggressively marketing its properties to a Spanish language audience and benefits from the growth of that market (nothing wrong with that, that's capitalism) but that the business strategy is coloring the coverage of the Times' illegal immigration question. Moore may have a point, but there's probably more of an unwillingness by the Times to upset the apple cart and not challenge the hegemony of the orthodox liberal elite. Not something you can easily see from Mar Vista. Or Spring Street.
Blog away, dum dums.

I typically don't like Celeste Fremon because she one of those groupie Father Gang Banger supporters and make excuses for the criminal activity of gang bangers saying they have no jobs, etc. However, I got an e-mai to her website and love her take on David Z having the guts to go after the gang programs. David makes some very valid points and basically slams the Mayor for basically not overhauling the scam of some of these gang programs.

MS: "always ready to use his "blog" to cut down anyone he feels the personal need to..."
that's funny Higby. makes my day, that you feel that way.
Matt Dowd got the big 'cut-down' on this very 'blog', in what would appear to be a personal need of your own good self.
ouch.

I agree, Miss Doll. If that is Kevin Roderick, then he bears more than a striking resemblence to Nikita "we will bury you" Khrushchev in his younger days.

Walter may be right about the Times when it comes to adding Hoy, and the choice of some illegal mother's hard life, to tug at the hearts of bleeding heart liberals and other illegals and all Hispanics. That's how they "think" all right: not with the big picture in mind, of how unfair this is to everyone else who's "stood in line" to get into this country, including people with skills and educations we NEED (unlike them), the unfair financial burdens placed on us as a society, and now from Reyes and Alarcon and some at state level -- they openly want to destroy the very nature of our society, insisting that living side by side with the Glassell Parks who we subsidize, is to OUR benefit as progressives.
BUT it's naive to think the editor would admit it. And some writers do get in their little licks, like even Steve Lopez and Tim Rutten admitting, during the course of other topics touching on illegals (like schools, gangs) that they're a major financial burden. THAT in itself is something -- a reversal of the claim by the MExican pols like Alarcon,Reyes, Huizar, Cardenas, Cedillo, all of them -- that illegal immigration is a net huge benefit.
Roderick is right, that the only way to effect change is withing the system, and subtly, not with a sledge hammer.

Someone should tell the Mayor that if he did lift Special Order 40 the LAPD could question Matt Dowd about his activities and deport him.

f*ck the mayor. come and get me. venice beach.
MAKE SURE YOU PROVE MY GANG AFFILIATION FIRST.
THEN CHECK FOR ANY CRIMINAL RECORD.
THEN HAVE AN IMMIGRATION OFFICIAL OR A JUDGE DETERMINE MY ACTUAL STATUS.
then you can talk to me.
